[ sam is much of the same mindset of the singularity - he will worry when it's been going on longer than it should, but it is not his area of expertise. the singularity, while not on a schedule, does tend to have a pattern - and sam finds his skillset more beneficial to the aftermath. he doesn't love being so reactive, but there's only so much he can do in a place so influenced by magic.
for now, though, his horizon is dark and wind-buffeted. he knows the house will survive (it has survived many a hurricane season before now) but that doesn't mean he has to like it. doesn't mean he wants to spend his time amongst it. so he ventures out instead - it has been some time since he's last visited wanda's domain, and she is the person he seeks out now, anyway. he wanders down the familiar green tunnel, but is pleasantly surprised to find where it leads - a loft, in new year if the view through the windows is anything to go by. sam doesn't recognize it, but that doesn't bother him all that much, especially when a very happy puppy comes bounding up to him. sam squats, because obviously he has an affection tax to pay. ]
Knock knock! [ he calls out, even as his hands are already on mary, his smile growing. ] Who's a pretty girl... your momma home?
( wanda is up on the loft, doing her own thing, when she hears sam. of course she knows that he's arrived prior to his announcing as much, but she's a little busy reorganizing some tchotchkes on a shelf. mary is enough of a distraction in the meantime—
mary, who wags her tail and happily stomps her front paws on the floor at the attention she's getting, sniffing over sam because a new person means a new friend.
it gives wanda enough time to lean over the railing, looking down towards the front door. her hands are free, now, as she walks to her left towards the stairs. )
I'm up here. ( and the dog yips. ) You've never met Mary before, have you?
[ he hears movement, and then is looking up to see wanda leaning over the railing. he smiles up at her for a brief moment before his eyes are back on mary. ]
No I haven’t. Hi, Mary, I’m Sam. [ mary bounces, yipping again as she bounces close then away again - very excited by the new person, it seems.
sam plays with her for a few more moments as he listens to wanda make it down the stairs, finally pushing to stand. ]
I like what you’ve done with the place. Guessing…Hell’s Kitchen? [ he leans his head towards the closest window, smiling playfully. ] Matt influence?
( she echoes, allowing him to have the answer he might feel smug about. it's a certainty that her big brothers from back home have been able to see how this relationship has developed, despite wanda's efforts to keep herself cool and untouched by emotion.

stepping closer to sam, she scratches between mary's ears and then puts a hand to sam's arm, squeezing lightly. then she makes her way towards the L-shaped couch. )
There's a chapel if you go down the stairs, and a gym in one of the doors in this hallway. I got my garden up on the roof. ( she picks up her feet on the couch, just as thunder booms outside. this crazy weather is sure to continue. ) At least it's resistant to storms.
[ she is correct there - he does feel smug about it, his smile lingering as wanda closes the distance and squeezes his arm. he knows her well enough to know that she's contrarian for the sake of it, something that reminds him of sarah more often than it doesn't. ]
Oh great, 'cause that's definitely not religious trauma. [ a friendly enough joke, but also may or may not be another easy jab. truth is, sam likes matt. likes matt a lot. but they both know on whose side he is going to remain.
not that it matters that much - wanda and matt are happy, and wanda can take care of herself if she wasn't. it still makes sam feel better to say it, just an easy little joke.
she settles on the couch and sam moves to follow her - falling to sit on the other side as his eyes go to the windows. watches the storm as it rages, as thunder booms. ] You've got a good view of it up here too.
