[Viktor is satisfied, yes, though of course there's some discomfort in knowing how many of the others worry about him in this particular way. It's difficult not to feel the slightest bit resentful, that everyone else might prefer him as he was, when that someone was fragile and sick. Perhaps it was more comforting, for everyone else to know that he was limited.

But his help is needed now, so he pushes those thoughts out of his head, a process made easier by the very procedures that Cid worries so much about.

It doesn't take him long to get at the inner workings of the Orchestrion, and soon he has the delicate pieces laid out on his work table. He's a little loath to continue with this train of thought, given that he's sure Cid doesn't want Viktor tooling around in his brain, but he does wonder what other options there might be.

It doesn't have to. [Only go one way, that is.] There are methods of...sectioning off certain neural pathways, or preventing them from activating. It could be that the memories are there, you are just unable to access them.
