[It's a little weird seeing him without the wings and claws, but he supposes it might be weird for Eddie seeing him without the feathers and with normal human eyes. He smiles brightly at him, and reaches out to clap him on the back.]
I know where the song stuck in my head's from—it's from London. Little ballad I heard in the pubs, so we weren't too far off. [Although he won't tell Eddie that it's about a murder that Jacob himself committed.] It counts if you think it counts. Did you ever figure out what that melody you were thinking of was from?

[ He grins his Cheshire grin and dips into a low, theatrical bow. He’d never met Jacob prior to their time in the crater, but he finds himself falling into an easy and immediate camaraderie with the other man. Those memories of a time that never truly happened are difficult to deal with, and there are a handful that Eddie finds himself either not addressing or growing numb to, but it's times like these where it becomes clear that it’s really not all that bad. ]
Oh! Shit, yeah. It’s, uh…it’s from a movie? It’s just, like…kind of a novelty track?
[ He pauses and eyes Jacob for a moment, and while he doesn’t know for sure, he gets the vibe: ]
But, uh, I’m gonna take a wild guess and assume you have no idea what any of that is.

The mention of a movie gets an eyebrow raise from him. Then it ticks higher at the mention of a novelty track.]
Not a clue. I imagine these things came about after Her Majesty Queen Victoria's reign?

[ Luckily, Eddie is familiar with the way that timelines aren’t exactly linear around here. He’s from 1986, but it seems like no one else really is. Some people are from earlier, and some are from much later. Its’s not a strange thing anymore, and he barely bats an eye when Jacob reveals that he’s from Queen Victoria’s time. ]
Uh…after, yeah. But you’re not far off from experiencing your first one. I think.
[ He’s not the biggest history buff, but he can’t imagine movies became a big thing until a bit later. Even then, it’s unlikely he’ll ever get to see Ghostbusters…sad. ]
But movies are great if you ever get a chance.

There's a relief. If I ever chance upon one I'll make sure to experience it for myself. [A beat.] What is a movie, anyway? So I'll know what to look for. [He's from 1868, so he's familiar enough with photography and the general forward lurch of technology. He's fascinated, though, by how technology advances after his time, and kind of leans a little closer to Eddie in interest. Tell him more, man! He's an enraptured audience.]

Oh! So, uh…
[ He pauses, brow furrowing as he tries to think of a decent way to describe a movie. They were a common, everyday thing for him, and while he’s had the chance to see a few in the Horizon thanks to Wanda, it’s still something he feels he took for granted back home. ]
It’s like…a play? But you can watch it anytime you want and the performers aren’t in the room with you. It’s a recording—like, a flip book with all the pictures put together? It works sort of like that, except there's sound as well. Or, eventually there will be sound. That doesn't come til later.

So something like a daguerreotype that moves, then?
[Hey, he's got it!]
What's this about sound coming later? You can set these movies to music, now, too?
no subject
[ He beams like he has any idea what a daguerreotype is, and quietly wishes that he’d hung out with the photography students a bit more than he did. But he can form an assumption, and his assumption is correct—it’s a type of photography. ]
Oh, so the first movies were silent. Like, you’d see it happening but wouldn’t hear any talking or sound or anything. They’re write the dialogue on like…these cards in-between? And I think they brought in orchestras to play live while the movie played. But later on—
[ He makes a grand gesture, grinning wildly. ]
You get the dialogue and the music. Maybe I can set up the proper viewing experience in the Horizon sometime.

[He is imagining a much more exciting movie theater experience than what the average moviegoer usually experiences.]
Let me know when you do, yeah? I'd love to get a look at one of these movies myself, see what they're like with my own eyes. They sound so astonishing.

[ Eddie loves live music--and why wouldn't he? He's a musician. While the movies he knows may not be presented with live music anymore, it's still something he can appreciate. ]
Absolutely, dude. You'll get the first invitation.
[ He beams, already beginning to form plans in his head. Sorry, Jacob, the movie is going to be This is Spinal Tap because it's the only movie he has memorized from start to finish. ]
