Do people usually lie a lot where you're from?

[ She supposes they had to. It's not like her own world is entirely innocent - it's not. But lying herself isn't something instilled by her values or her nature. She doesn't think of it, at least so much in truly straying from the truth. ]

[ At least she listens, a patient and curious pupil even if it just adds more questions to the pile: ]

Well, uh…yeah, kind of. I kind of assumed it was a universal thing, though.

[ Lying is a common occurrence everywhere, right? You can lie to be a dick, lie for the greater good, lie to get out of trouble, lie to get someone else in trouble, lie to spare someone else’s feelings—it’s a pretty powerful tool!

You can also lie for the sake of a joke. ]

But, hey, that could bet a lie.

[ He grins ear-to-ear, punctuating the fact that he is indeed joking. ]

I dunno. You just…kind of know. It's about how something makes you feel, you know?

[ He smiles lightly, but he doesn’t seem very convinced. Lies are necessary sometimes, even about important people. ]

The Spirit's are always really friendly and the world is so much more beautiful than our own. Not that ours isn't, but there's something about it - it's so vibrant. There's so much to learn and see.

[ He believes her, he does! But it's clearly something she's seen, and because he hasn't, he can't confirm if what she's saying is true. It's cool, though. She clearly thinks highly of it. ]

I guess... I both get it and don't get it? You just say something you like is cool? Does that mean something you dislike is hot?

Uh…no, actually. Hot…also kind of means cool to. Among other things. Multi-function word.

[ His eyebrows knit together and he seems to really be considering the logistics of 70s and 80s slang for the first time in his young life. ]

I guess for the opposite of cool we’d just say it sucks. Or it’s bullshit. But, uh, don’t worry about it. My point is—spirit world? Metal as hell.
