[ Percy won't finger-guns at Will if only because his hands are occupied with cookies. But he huffs a laugh in response to Will's compliment because it's nice to be appreciated for his humour when certain individuals, such as a certain wine god in question, certainly do not. ]
I'm here all night, try the veal, and don't forget to tip your waiter.
[ While munching on a golden Oreo (not his personal preference but still good, as Percy would never refuse a free cookie) he shakes his head as though he, too, can't believe that Mr D managed to infiltrate his subconscious. ]
Trust me, it was not intentional. You'd think after everything, he'd remember my name and, I dunno, keep it consistent but nooo — but maybe that subconscious annoyance triggered something, even in there.
[ There's a whole lot else to be annoyed about but he does admit: ]
Honestly I kind of hesitated coming back here. It's so connected to the Singularity, it feels a little bit like I'm double-dog-daring it to do something to me again.

I think the only person's name Mr. D actually remembers is Nico's. I know, it shocked me too the first time he actually said 'Nico'.
[Unfortunately, his own name had not followed that, so, Will was sure his name was still Wallace or Winston or something.] One day you're going to meet someone actually named Peter Johnson and be really, really confused.
And I hope on that day, someone has a camera.
[That photo would go down in demigod Camp history. Will could just about imagine the look of incredulity on Percy's face.]
I don't think the Singularity is like the Gods, Percy. I don't think it trips you up because it gets bored.

[ Percy laughs.
But it sobers quickly when he thinks again of the Singularity, and this place, and 800 years of pretty confusing, low-key terrifying memories. ]
It might not be like the gods, but it tapped into something that made us gods. It might not be able to ... do something to us directly but it's got influence.
[ He knows next to nothing about it, but he can garner that much anyway. He'd seen the pull that it had on Annabeth, and on others that he tried to help. ]
What happened back there ... I turned it down for a reason. [ He huffs, quickly correcting himself. ] I mean, I turned it down for a ton of reasons, but I never wanted to be a god. I still don't.

And yet the Singularity influenced you enough to turn you down that path. That's wrong, man. It took your will away, your choice. That is kind of what you mean, right?
So...why? What's the point of it all?
[And yeah Percy, he caught your little slip up there. Annabeth. And you know, not wanting to be an asshole god.]

[ Percy scrubs at his face, like thinking about this any further and any deeper is going to bring about a massive headache and some extra crappy feelings to deal with aside from all the other crappy feelings he’s got building up from both his actual life, and the aftermath of having lived as a god for 800-some years. The decisions he’d made, the things he’d forgotten, the things he’d chosen to forget … ]
I think we’re still trying to figure out what the point of it was. I couldn’t tell you, man. Maybe one of the older gods got ticked off with us, thought that this was a good way to show us what we were toying dangerously with. But I don’t know enough about this place to come up with any conclusions yet.
