[ Nocwich has an ambiance that's hard to beat, in Nico's opinion. It's gloomy in the best ways: it makes the trees look epic in their twists and crags, and the distant lights of the town are orangey-warm and inviting.

Walking along the edge of the woods, Nico inadvertently sneaks up on a young man in the darkness. ]

Sorry, I wasn't expecting anyone else to be out here this late - early? Kind of lose track here.

[ Then he sees it, the glint of a few curved metal bands, and his eyebrows disappear under his hair. ]

Are you dating multiple people?

[ He knows what wearing a ring on a chain means, okay? It's what his boyfriend did with Nico's ring. ]

It's cool if you are, I never met anybody who did that wasn't a god. You're not, are you?

[ Steve jumps a little, not expecting someone to appear or at the very least to have noticed someone approach. he's more distracted than he was aware. ]

Uh- early. Have you been up all night or what?

[ Steve's hands drop to his sides, not even thinking about what he'd been fiddling with, which is why the question gets a very immediate confused look. ]

What? [ Steve's not dating anyone, last he checked, but the question throws him into a very sudden thought spiral. did he say something somewhere to make someone think they were dating? he remembers weird miscommunications like that happened to him when he was back in school every now and then, but this is so... Steve blinks a couple of times. ]

No, not a god. [ not anymore, none of them are.

he just...can't wrap his head around any part of that last bit, especially because he's not even thinking about the rings on his chain. ] Sorry- sorry. What? Why do you think I'm dating a bunch of people?

[ The teenager gives a shrug and grins at the guy. ]

Who can really say? I think Nocwich has the right idea. Mornings should be theoretical, and sunshine can be an opt-in experience. If you don't wake up til noon, staying up late doesn't count.

[ He... might've messed up asking about the rings. Nico's not really sure why he's being asked why he's asking. It's obvious, right? Ugh, there's a temptation to just melt away into a shadow and reappear somewhere out of eyesight where he doesn't have to answer awkward. ]

You're ... wearing their rings? That's what people do when they're dating. Do they do that here? Do they even have class rings here? You can use other rings, though.
