It's fishing.

Arthur knows how to fish. He's happy to help!

Only it's not until he's loaded into a boat and asked just how good he is with his axe that he understands exactly what sort of 'help' he is here to give.

Well. It's sort of fishing. Just fishing for sea monsters.

Right. Not a problem! They're just animals he's not familiar with. He wasn't familiar with plenty of animals from his own world, particularly in the ocean. There's probably sea monsters back there. How would he know? The water around the islands was poison before Arthur was even a legal adult.

These waters aren't poisoned. They're a vital necessity - it's why he had joined in their defense. Losing the fish had been the first step in Wellington's decline. He knows firsthand what losing the fishing population does to a civilization. He wasn't able to do anything for Wellington Wells. It was too far gone, too lost and out of control and lacking in resources. Nothing could help it.

Solvunn is doing quite well, and he'd like to help keep it doing so. He quite likes Solvunn. It offers all the community structure and pastoral whimsy of Wellington Wells, but without all of the terrible things. Is it something of a cult? Probably. But it's a much nicer cult than the last one he'd been in.

So here he is, with fishing gear and his carpentry axe, in a boat heading out to deal with sea monsters.

This is just fine.

"Er...lovely day for it?" he offers to his companions in the boat.

[idk if you still want to do this since we'd have to finish in...8 days? but I can make an effort!]

Teddy's last experience with the ocean had been less than spectacularly fun, what with the, you know, hacking a leviathan into pieces as it tried to kill them and also being left alone in the boat while the two half-sea-things jumped in. But some part of it must have hit that little "accomplished: goal of helping people" part of their brain that doles out the dopamine, because when they see Arthur being encouraged out toward one of the little skiffs, they grab one of the long knives that are kind of around the boats for various rope-cutting and fish-cleaning purposes and head along with.

They laugh at his awkward tone, and lift a shoulder. "Sure better than it is on the other side of the storm wall," Teddy offers with a little bit of a grin. "Have you done this before, or is this your first time out after them?"
