Oh. I think my dad liked those books. [ unfortunately she wanted nothing to do with her dad as a youth (a younger youth) so she's perhaps behind on hereditary mortal nerding. ] Something about elves and a magic ring? Couple of wizards. I think they might have made some movies some years ago.

[ she missed out on a lot of movies too, however, by virtue of living at camp year round. she is not well connected to any kind of pop culture. ]

[ annabeth looks pretty pleased with herself when he says it sounds right, but she also just looks... happy, both that it worked and that she'll be able to read it more easily. ]

Thanks. [ a beat. ] It's pretty cool that it worked. I feel like there's tons more I can add to my list to read now, so I'll consider opening the door for more recommendations.

[ Meanwhile, Eddie has missed out on a lot of movies by virtue of being from the 80s, but he’s been lucky enough to have the Lord of the Rings films introduced to him via Wanda. He has his critiques…but they were incredible. Far better than the animated version he’d watched when he was younger where no one seemed to be able to agree how to pronounce Saruman. He’s still pissed that he died too soon to see them properly.

But that’s for another day. For today, they’ve got comic books. He grins, clearly pleased with the outcome of the entire situation. ]

[ she and her dad have been trying, but it doesn't make her early childhood any less awkward. her catch up movie exposure comes in the form of old hollywood movies lately, at least when it comes to her dad's nerding. ]

[ it's fine, they can both be pleased with how this turned out, even if she rolls her eyes at the required reading remark. ]
