OPEN ❥ making masks
...then it lends to reason he must really like masks!
[ She explains as she blots some bright red paint on the misshapen blob she's molded into a face. Sort of. ]
So, mayhaps if we make him something more appealing, he might be willing to trade the mask the council needs with one of ours.
[ Himeka looks up from her project with a light smile. ]
Would you like to help?

Henry's artistic side makes him curious, he must admit. The rest of him balks against being so hopeful and going out of his way to assist, despite the communal nature of Solvunn itself — though maybe being in this world for so long is exactly the reason why get gives it some thought, just a passing beat before he replies.]
And is that supposed to be more appealing?
[A glance down at the blob of what she's already working on.]
It's a face, right?
[Be nice, Henry.]

Everyone, but especially the Summoned, get a +5 friendship modifier. ]
That's the idea, yes.
[ Despite her obvious lack of skill, she looks down proudly at the mess she's made. ]
Well, it's going to be a face. I hope. It's about the right size, right?
[ She holds up her hands, putting her fingers into two mirrored Ls to frame his face and then holds it over the blob. Measuring. Very precisely. ]
...Alright, it may be a bit bigger, but mayhaps our goat friend needs a bigger mask.

That was never the reality presented to him. But here, in Solvunn, there is often time aplenty to examine and encourage and explore long-dead talent. Even if it's as something as silly and meaningless as making a mask; the very thing that Henry derides other people for wearing (metaphorically), hypocrite as he is.]
I think the nose needs work. [There, he gave a criticism without being overly mean about it.] If you don't mind, I can help you straighten out the features just a little more to look more... face-like. I've been dabbling in art now and again, so I think I can manage it.

Unfortunately.
But she is aware enough of her shortcomings when it comes to art. When he mentions the nose, she purses her lips as she tilts the mask to the side. ]
It's a little crooked, isn't it?
[ It looks like a potato. ]
Oh, would you?
[ Himeka looks up again, her tail swishing behind her with new interest. ]
I'd love to learn from an actual artist.
[ She assumes, of course, that "dabbling" is enough to make him a true blue artisan. She scoots a little too the side to make room for him to sit if he wishes, even though there is plenty otherwise. ]
no subject
Well, I don't know if I'd qualify as a "true" artist. [Still, he holds out his hands in an offer to take the mask from her, to truly look it over.] It wasn't exactly my profession back home. I guess you could say I'm just an amateur.
But there's so much free time in Solvunn. We all should pursue potential that was otherwise quashed back home, right?
["Quashed" is a rather strong word, but. It's accurate.]
no subject
We all start out as amateurs, don't we?
[ She would never go as far as to say she had a knack for cooking. Even in the early onset, it took a lot of practice, determination, and undercooked loaves to get it right. ]
Though I suppose anyone who had a passing interest in farming will be doing well now.
[ Her gaze flickers back down to the "mask". ]
I was thinking it would feel more comfortable with a mask of something familiar. So I tried to make it look like a goat.
