Which is a strange feeling, given how much chaos has unfolded across all of Abraxas recently. Steve's fought off monsters that came through the shards made in reality; he's tried to help unsuspecting natives from falling into some abyss that opened up at their feet; he's done a lot of talking with other Summoned as they tried to figure out how to fix all this, and even spoke with gods.
Now, though, they've come to their conclusions, they have a plan, and all they can do is wait. Some will be staying here, others returning to their homes. While everyone seems to have the choice to do what they want, their choices are permanent — meaning it's time to say goodbye to a whole lot of people.
On top of that, Steve doesn't actually know what will happen to him when he steps through the rift. Where in time will he end up? Will he be separated from Sam and the others? It's impossible to know, and so they're just going to have to take a leap of faith.
He sits somewhere in the crater under the shadow of the Singularity with a simple sketchbook in his lap. It's not much, but if he can make some sketches to leave with those who are staying behind, it'll be something. A nice memento.
When he hears footsteps approaching, he glances up to see that it's Hilda. He shoots her a small smile, then gestures for her to come sit if she wants. ]
