[ His expression shifts to one of mild concern, looking at all the building supplies. It's gone a moment later, and he shrugs off his jacket, tossing it over one of the unpacked boxes. ]

No fuckin' clue. Maybe it's some The Village shit, like they don't even know what's really happenin' everywhere else.

[ She decides to take it slightly easier for a bit, and goes to sit at one of the tables, where wrapping paper and boxes sit. All of the presents under the trees are just decoration, but they still require real wrapping. A cocktail manifests next to her. ]

Grabbing one of the flat end pieces and a longer side piece, he stairs to nail them together. It's slow going because he really doesn't want to smash his damn fingers. ]

You never saw that one? It wasn't as good as Sixth Sense. Anyway, it's like this real old village, right? Like in the 1800s. And there's monsters in the woods around them, so they can't ever leave. But then people get hurt and they need medicine, so they send this one chick to the next closest village to get help, and when she leaves, you learn that it's actually modern times, and the whole thing is a crazy cult lead by a few guys who basically decided to hide from the world, and they raised all their families believin' it was the 1800s. The girl never even learns the truth. Come to Sam's next movie night, I'll play it.

[ She carefully measures the wrapping paper, cuts it with a single glide of the scissors. She spent a few Christmases wrapping gifts to raise money for the high school back home, so she's quite good at it. ]

I only ever went a few times. Pratt had one theater, and it only had two screens. I had to drive an hour to Wichita if I wanted to see a movie in the real theater, like with the big seats and stuff. But Sam's is real fun. [ And definitely not functioning as therapy, nope.
