"Stop!"

His voice is sharp and commanding, the same tone he uses to order his troops on the battlefield. He doesn't expect Ronan to obey, but he hopes the boy at least senses he's serious.

"The Rune woke me up. Something tried to grip its power... That was you, wasn't it?"

Ronan stops. Not because Sasarai commands it, but because the accusation is one that's better confronted now than later. Right now, he's fairly certain he's the first one Sasarai's mentioning this to, which means it's a problem that can still be contained.

With a sigh, his shoulders sag and he shoves his hands into the pockets of his robe, looking a bit like a sheepish child caught stealing from the cookie jar. He turns around slowly, lips pursed and head cocked just slightly to the right.

"What makes you say that?" he asks.

Sasarai walks up to Ronan so that he doesn't need to shout and stops a few paces away.

"I can feel the effects of the Singularity on the earth."

He kicks a leg forward to tap the floor in front of him with his toes.

"And right now the magic around you is flickering wildly. So what happened?

Ronan runs his fingers over the small orb tucked in his pocket. Sasarai is a problem he could solve very easily, if he can move fast enough. His enchantment is powerful enough to wipe not only the memory of this encounter but also much of the time leading up to it.

But if he's not fast enough, then he'll have attacked a supposed ally in the middle of the castle, and he'll have to answer not only for the act but for the reason behind it.

Abandoning the orb, Ronan draws his hands out of his pockets to fold his arms, instead. "I can't feel whatever you're feeling," he says, shrugging. "Maybe your Rune's fucked."
