shadowthief: (What am I seeing)

Inej practically holds her breath as the pigeon focuses on them. If it flies away, they're doomed. It'll get much farther, much faster than they can.

"I've never tried, but there's a first time for everything?" she glances at him, clearly unsure how well this will work, but definitely willing to give it a shot.

She takes a moment. Two. To take a deep, calming breath and center herself before she slinks across the roof. Slow. Careful. Movements sinuous and cat-like. The closer she gets, the slower she moves because birds are inherently skittish creatures. She's only a few yards away when the pigeon suddenly takes attention to something. No, no, no. she thinks despairingly. But a moment passes and it resumes preening itself.

She glances back at Jesper for a moment and shrugs. She's going to go for it, they can't catch the bird if they don't try. She edges closer and cups both hands close, wide enough to capture the bird once she's near enough. She has a plan in mind– get right up to him and quickly clamp her hands around the wings. Easy enough, hopefully.

Despite people's inability to sense her presence, apparently this does not extend to birds. Or perhaps it caught a glance of her hand at the edge of its vision as a warning. Regardless of the reason, the result is the same: Inej is just behind the bird, hands moving in to capture him, feathers grazing over her fingers, and then he flutters up and out of her reach (admittedly this is not hard, as she is not very tall).

"Oh, come back, here, you pigeon!" she mutters, staring up at the bird, squinting against the sun to watch it float effortlessly just above her. "I think it's taunting me," she says, looking back at Jesper. "Cheeky pigeon." She folds her arms across her chest.
