OPEN - Eclipse
The kids pull him out of it by clinging to him and Jesper tries to adjust with his eyes. It isn't easy but this is when it comes in handy, his constant wandering of the city streets. "It's alright," he says, really uncertain if that's the truth. "Let's get you home." He only remembers one or two of their homes, but maybe they can all stay in one. He can't leave them here. He doesn't need his father's disapproval in his head to know that much.
"Anyone here? I need help. Walk slowly, little Crows." There's eight of them so it is going to be quite the journey, and he knows he could use at least a second person, they can't all latch onto him on the walk. But he'll make it work on his own. It wouldn't be the first time. He could use the help from someone else though. Regardless of that, he starts on his way, being clung to.
After managing to drop the kids off with parents who agreed to take them all in safely, who knows how dangerous staying out there for each would be, Jesper is relieved to only worry about himself now. That hyper-awareness bleeds away and leads him to end up stumbling around more, possibly running right into someone else in the process. Ketterdam is usually very dark and he's used to not being able to see easily, but this is on a higher level.

In the commotion, she's managed to liberate a lantern just to make sure she can see clearly while the townsfolk panic. Thankfully, in a technologically advanced (in her mind) city like Cadens, there are plenty of light sources popping up within a few minutes, dotting the streets as people scurry to their homes and loved ones -- or, as many others do, just stand around marveling and gossiping about what might be causing this, how it's an unexpected scientific phenomenon, or staring at the ring of what's left of the sun while shading their eyes with their hands.
It's a little alarming and annoying more than anything, but she offers her assistance to those who seem more shaken if they look like they need it. Hearing someone actually calling for help nearby, Ciri quickly follows the voice, holding her lantern aloft.
It's gun-guy. Surrounded by a gaggle of frightened kids.
Well, shit.
"Everyone accounted for?" she asks immediately, without even bothering with any sort of preamble.

He thinks he might be able to make it by using his powers to tell where objects are, but it's difficult without someone else. So when the light is seen and Ciri comes closer, he lets out a big sigh of relief. Sure they had a tense first meeting, but she's deeply competent looking. "Say hello and thank you to Miss Ciri, little Crows." A few of them do echo thank you to her, their little eyes wide. They're boisterous during the day in the city, but something like this makes them children yet again.
"Just give Uncle Jesper a second, yeah? I'm not going anywhere, don't worry." For all his sass and attitude usually, Jesper shows genuine kindness and anxiety for them, ruffling hair as he steps only a little away from them to come closer to Ciri. They stay nearby, some grabbing holds onto his jacket ends. "I know where at least two homes, but there's eight of them." He's frazzled, speaking a little quieter to Ciri.
"Can you help me walk them to one of them? Maybe the parents can help from there."
no subject
"I'll help."
And then, to the kids, she adds, "We'll get you home, okay? Stick close. Hold hands with a friend. We don't want anyone getting separated. You're safe with me."
no subject
"Everyone grab hold of this to stay connected to us, and then hold onto each other. You're safe with us." Hey, it's a team effort. He would've found a way without her light. Probably. Maybe. Just very slowly. And with a long more banging into things.
"This will be a daring story of adventure tomorrow, Crows. We don't want to be pigeons, do we?" They all scurry up to hold onto his jacket, they'll stretch it for certain with their sticky little hands, but it'll be fine. It'll be worth it and it's very easy for him to smooth out and clean his own clothing considering his powers.
"Okay two of them are Terry the butcher's kids, east side of the residential area, right by the red path past Meg's inn." She's been here longer than he has so that's probably plenty instruction on where to go, but he learned the city quick.

sounds good!
OPEN - Horizon - Crow Club section
The gambling tables are the hot spot of the club with what appears to be card games and dice specific to Jesper's world. There seem to be an unlimited supply of kruge (Kerch money) and other coins that will work so no one runs out of funds. A silent NPC dealer is there at all times. People visiting will find that if they sit down and think of games from back home, the table will start to change and their games from home appear on it. Want to play normal poker? Go for it. Want to play Uno or Sorry? It'll be there!
Something similar happens when you go to the bar. An NPC bartender is there and will bring you a drink, and as soon as it gets into your hand, it will become whatever your favorite is. If you choose to get something from Ketterdam it's mostly ales.
The doors that are open for people to walk through glow so a visitor can know where to go, walking into a bedroom that Kaz Brekker owns which is not Jesper's but he's often there, or out of the club entirely to a place beautiful and green. Jesper can be found here at each location, sometimes sitting playing cards, sometimes nursing a drink, sometimes lounging in the back staring off into space, and occasionally quietly sitting in Kaz's room. He looks much the same as usual except he's in a bright green suit with a lime shirt underneath and a pair of pistols with pearl handles.
It is a lively and active kind of dive club, and for some reason everything in it smells like waffles.
Open - Horizon - Van Eck Mansion
There are other key locations in the Van Eck Mansion. Once you walk in, there's a beautiful entryway and doors toward a library, a sitting room, and a music and art room. In the sitting room you will see a giant portrait with a dark-skinned woman wearing green hunter clothes and the pistols that her son usually carries with her. She looks very much like Jesper so it's easy to make the guess who this is.
In the front area, there is a giant portrait of a wolf, and this location also smells like waffles all the time. Feel free to sit casually in any of the rooms and enjoy some quiet time. In the music room there seems to be flute music playing at all times, without anyone there. People can play the piano or find that there are instruments they know how to use there they can pick up. Part of the room there are multiple canvases and paint that a visitor can use to create something for themselves.
The bedroom upstairs is the only place that is closed off, but someone can knock on the door. Otherwise they can find Jesper in any place, either lounging in the sitting room, staring out the window in the music room, and there is a shooting range in the back. Surrounded by the outdoor beauty, it is the only very Jesper thing, with a variety of guns that people can pick up and use themselves on the targets there.
In this area Jesper will also be practicing his powers of telekinesis with bullets, tossing them back and forth. He's less anxious about it in here and he's showing great promise. There are also patches of clothing, fabric, wood, glass, anything a Durast can start manipulating. It might seem like an odd combination of things to have out there in the open, but upon further inspection, a visitor can see that they are all modified or morphed into different shapes.

She walks through the front rooms and the expansive halls of the Van Eck estate and smiles at the little details that Jesper has conjured up, all just so. He's so much more observant than people would ever guess. She follows the path through rooms to the door to the garden out back and hangs in the doorway for a moment, just watching him work on shifting a piece of wood into... she's not sure, she can't tell from here.
Grisha abilities are fascinating, in a way the rest of the world fears or desires to weaponize, but Inej just finds it beautiful. Zowa, that was the Zemeni word for it, and Inej felt it was probably the most accurate. Blessed. Touched by powers beyond the greater world's understanding. Touched by Saints and Gods so many no longer believe in.
She makes careful note this time, unlike so many others before it, to make some noise as she approaches. Only once she knows she won't completely startle another year of life out of him does she finally speak, "What are you making?" she asks, perching on the edge of a stone bench nearby.
no subject
And Jesper's never really thought that they were, not exactly. His father made him fear them, the world made him fear them, but they were useful to Kaz, and they helped him secure an impossible shot to 'kill' Kuwei at the moment they needed. The telekinesis feels easier to him, more active, the bullets and the zipping objects around. It is the material part that requires more effort and time.
He does hear her, or maybe he feels her, it's difficult to say in here. Jesper does know how extraordinary Grisha powers can be, he never felt like he was a part of them. He heard that Durasts in Ravka loved working together, that they were collaborators and came up with inventions together. Jesper is starting from a place of imagination, he's still never had any training.
Jesper glances up and shows her wood, several pieces of it in fact. "Mag has some rotten wood, I think I figured out how to get it out and replace it, but I don't want to make it worse."
She's the owner of the inn he lives in and he likes to please her, like any good momma's boy. This is a specific skill he will no doubt be able to use to fix other things too. It's simplistic, maybe even a little boring, but it's a start. Wood is fairly easy to work with.
no subject
She smiles a little, a tiny thing, a knowing thing. To think that Jesper both, goes out of his way to help whenever he can, and has such a low opinion of himself because of precise failings he can never let himself forget, is almost a sad thing. She will just have to remind him of that first truth more often. "That's amazing, Jesper. You get it down just right, you could help people with renovations of all sorts." And that, she can't help but think, would bring some very decent coin into his pockets.
"Are you pulling the rot out, or...changing the broken parts into health ones again?" She knows even less about Grisha abilities and how they work than Jesper, and she thinks if he's going out of his way here to learn more about his powers, to use them especially to help other people, she should encourage it. Engage in it with him, even if she can only watch.
no subject
He feels that rush of pleasure at her compliment, now that is something that may actually get him to blush someday. "I suppose I could do that. It won't be difficult once I figure out the best way. That could be good coin." His mind goes there immediately too, obviously. They both know that surviving means needing the essentials. Some day he wants to get them a better place, and yes, he considers them a unit. She moved to Cadens for him, he wants her to be happy that she did.
"I'm afraid fixing the rot is a little over my head at this point. I think I know how to do it, but it would be difficult." Jesper has never actually discussed this with her or anyone else this closely before. It still feels strange to do, but he's tried to come out of his shell more. And it's Inej, he can tell her anything. At least with her it doesn't feel like he's going to get sick, the way strangers can.
"I'd have to change every part of the rot that way. I'm pulling the rotten wood out of it." Jesper concentrates and shows her, the wood seeming to soften and change to something loose in front of her eyes, pulling it but not like someone would snap wood off. It's some telekinesis, gripping the pieces he's identified and removing them. It feels difficult, he would be sweating in the real world, but it's easier here somehow. He tosses the rot aside to the ground, leaving behind the part of the plank that is still good, a little jagged in some places so he seems to smooth it over with a brush of his fingers.
"Theoretically the idea is that I take healthy wood and replace it, and then ... blend them all together into a strong piece?" Jesper takes a breather, letting himself relax, wiggling his fingers out of it. "But I'm guessing."

Open - Around Cadens + Event
He is often in the inn since he agreed to help out there for room and board, either bartending or cleaning up tables, or carrying heavy stuff for Mag. He's cheerful and will chat up anyone there. "How's your day?" or "What's going on?" are common questions toward anyone who comes in, and he genuinely seems to want to know. He's picked up some duties for merchants carrying things and the like, having learned from Geralt that it's a way to start making money that doesn't include being killed by monsters. Right away, at least.
While Jesper stays away from gambling areas, he hustles people regularly with darts and he shows off his incredible aiming skills there. No matter what challenge he's given, he accomplishes it, but not to the extent people can tell there is any magic involved.
Sometimes Jesper can be found wandering the academies, listening in on lectures or eavesdropping on student conversations. While he offers no opinions or thoughts himself, he follows along well, and it seems he's more there to observe than anything else.
If anyone has met Jesper, they probably know he is very high energy and seems to never be able to sit or stand still. He's always twitching or playing with a Wheel of Fortune pendant in his pocket. However, when the strange change comes upon the Summoned out of no where (Bad Moon Rising), something seems to change in him. He becomes calmer, more relaxed and peaceful. His powers are shut off which means his physical changes due to his powers are gone, and he is very distraught whenever that changes and he goes back to his nervous energy.
hustling!
"Ah, that's impressive. But could you throw it straight up and catch it without looking?"
[ooc: sorry for the late tag in! I hope this is still okay.]
Totally okay and yay!
He raises an eyebrow when Wen Kexing comes over, gray eyes rather direct and bold as they size him up, as he does most people. He has yet to waste his time with boring people here so far, but that's the fun of being somewhere new. Possibly the only fun out here.
The answer of course is yes but he has to consider how realistic it would be. "You know, I'm unsure, I suppose the only answer is to try and find out." He twirls the dart between his fingers. "Is this an official dare, mate?"
no subject
"If you make it, I'll buy you a drink. Is that enough to make it official?"
He misses his fan at this point. It would look more impressive if he could issue the challenge with a casual wave of the hand fan in front of him, to give his words the added air of a gentleman, but he has to settle with a wave of his sleeve instead. It doesn't look nearly as dramatic as he likes, but he keeps his chin high anyway.
"If you don't make it, will you give me something in return?"
no subject
"What do you want for it? And don't make it sound too good or I might miss on purpose." Jesper winks at him, glancing toward the others. They have somewhat of an audience, just in the way that people are enjoying the hustle and like seeing a new challenge. He thinks it's likely he'll have to throw this challenge, otherwise people might guess the truth, but he does like to live dangerously.

Mag's! Probably backdated to early April, sorry for the wait ;;
She still manages to walk in like she owns the place though, as she pushes the door open and sweeps inside with a long and easy stride. Casts her aureate gaze across the collection of close-gathered tables until she spots one of the inhabitants in particular. Tall? Check. Dark-skinned? Check. Clearly an 11 to anyone with eyes whether they're attracted to the male gender or not? Also check. She flashes him a crooked grin.
"Yo, wingman! I'm here for the titties," she announces with apparent ease as she strides on over to him, quietly hoping that she does in fact have the right guy. If not, this conversation is gonna get weird real quick.
No sorry only excitement!!!
Jesper is extremely vibrant and alive, he practically glows with it. He's always in motion, laughing, joking, so at ease as if he's always been here. He clocks in a new arrival, at least partially because she's tall, almost as tall as he is, and game recognizes game when it comes to sweeping confidence. His eyebrows go up when she speak and then he bursts out laughing, clapping his hands in delight.
"Now that is an entrance!" It may have gotten her a few looks from the visitors, but who cares about that. Jesper now gives her a full look, head to toe, gray eyes curious and warm. "Damn, girl, you are stacked." Jesper is tall but he's skinny as a rail, and here Gideon is with her incredible biceps. "That's hot." She said she's interested in women - titties - so he isn't going to hit on her himself, but still. Damn.
"Okay so we're looking for a girl who would love you to bench press her."
\o/
"Thanks for noticing. Hours of blood, sweat and tears go into maintaining this beautiful body," she drops the pose, shifts her weight until she's leaning against the closest vacant table, "and fuck yes, that's the kinda woman I wanna meet."
She ignores the dull twinge behind her breastbone, and the fleeting image of sharp and point-chinned little goblin face that springs into her mind as she says this. Harrow's her necro. They're necro and cav, bonded right down to the bones of themselves-- but anything else doesn't bear thinking about. Swiftly then, she pushes these thoughts to the furthest reaches of her consciousness.
"Do you have anyone in mind?"
sorry was out of town! just got back
"Hmm, I don't know yet, you haven't told me your type. Any preference on age, personality, et cetera? It's fine if not, sometimes none of that matters." She doesn't sound like someone who wants to be a beggar and a chooser, but on the other hand, she deserves someone good. Especially if she's been trapped away from hot ladies all this time. Tragedy. "Are we looking for a hook up or something real? Because hook ups are easy, we can go to a tavern right now."
Not Mag's Inn, she'll throw something at him if he keeps flirting with all the people who come in there. This isn't a place to pick up girls, it's a place to sleep. It's the place Gideon would take someone back, if they don't bring her back.
no worries! I had guests all weekend myself!
Am about to be out of town for a week, so might be a slow reply, but I love them your honor
\o/ and no worries, I'm often slow and always happy to backtag!

Closed to Inej - Pigeon hunting - Eventual Fail!
The thing is, he has no idea how to hunt pigeons. If he had a gun, he could shoot it down, but obviously the man does not want it harmed. He has hunted birds in the wild, but in a city like this? And to catch it? More difficult. So he had to ask Inej, since she is far better at this than he is. He did manage to get a box that he thinks could house the bird, he's used his gifts to make a stronger frame for it and a nice open slot to go in and out.
Inej also comes in handy because the street was giving him no way to search, so with her help, Jesper scrambled up to the roof of one of the buildings in the main square, having heard that the pigeon was seen nearby. For now, they're just looking around, trying to catch a look of it. He frowns though, peering out into the desert sky.
"These buildings aren't as easy to jump across as Ketterdam, are they?"
Okay they might be easy for Inej, but he needs simplicity. This is going to end up a scramble sooner or later, but he'll try anyway!
no subject
Hunting pigeons is certainly not a typical part of her usual job description, but... she supposes taking to the roofs will be more effective than standing on ground. Jesper's feet are not as adept as her own, but he holds his own scaling up the side of one of the buildings and she tugs him up the rest of the way once he's close enough.
"I think it's the lack of consistency in the architecture. It's all a bit random," she nods a little as she glances to the skies, unsure of how they were meant to even find the bird in the first place, nevermind catch it. "Did he tell you the sort of places the pigeon might like to hang around?"
no subject
"I was told to look around the market because it might be looking for crumbs, although from the way the man described it, it may only want the finest of crumbs." No average pigeon, a very spoiled one. Not so spoiled that it knew how to get home though, lost out there trying to survive. Jesper wonders if it voluntarily decided to fly the coop, literally, but that's not his problem.
They are currently at a good enough spot on a roof overlooking where the best bakeries are, he was looking for bread and the like since apparently pigeons like that. "It's big and white, has this high collar feather thing around the ears." So not in any way the type of pigeon Jesper's ever seen or heard of. He puts his own hands by his ears like he's making the collar in question. "I know this is stupid but he has influence."
no subject
"A mercher pigeon, then." She jokes again, laughing lightly. If they don't have a little fun with this, they'll go mad, so she doesn't feel bad about mocking a bird.
That description does nothing to make her previous statement less true, either. "Jesper... I chased a goat of good tidings in Solvunn... why not a pigeon?" She smiles brightly at him. "Getting favor of people in the city is not a bad thing." Especially if they want to get out of Mags' and into their own place someday sooner rather than later.
no subject
Jesper laughs, also always someone who likes to look for the fun in things. "Exactly like a mercher. So it'll stand out." They can look around right now and see ordinary pigeons, so the fact it stands out is a great thing. It'll be much easier to spot it even if it won't necessarily be easier to grab it. He does think it's funny too that they're hunting 'pigeons' when that's the slang for clueless Ketterdam visitors. Ahhh, memories.
He looks at her with such fondness. "This is why I love when we work together, Inej. You're endearingly positive." And so is he. They both have their spots of darkness like anyone else, but they're also both game for a great many thing. He'd have gone mad without her. "Okay let's ... try to get over to that roof." They'll need to keep figuring out vantage points.
He is not as good as her at roof jumping, but he can at least tolerably use his very long legs to sail from this to the next. He just lands a lot louder than she does, disturbing people underneath.
