She can't help the smile the whining of her name brings to her lip. Why is it, she wonders, that she surrounds herself with ridiculous boys? Ridiculous people, honestly, Nina's hardly any better than the rest of her friends. But she loves them all dearly, despite the ways on the surface it might have seemed they wouldn't fit.

You could have become anyone, and I shudder to think what you would have looked like under someone like Pekka Rollins." Kaz had his failings, his monstrous capabilities, but he had a code of a kind.
