"Uh, yeah, America is really big. Millions of miles big." It's hard to impart just how massive the country is, really. Especially to someone without any context at all.

"It's a country made up of fifty different states and those states all have hundreds of towns and cities in them. One side ends at one of the biggest oceans in the world, and the other side ends at the other biggest ocean in the world. It covers an entire continent from side to side."

Nadine shifts in her chair, settling herself more comfortably. She can take a long break, if she wants.

"Usually if you're traveling really far, you'd use a car or a train or an airplane. They all can go really fast. But most of those weren't working anymore and I had to get from right on the ocean of one side to more than halfway across the country. It was a really long time before a car came along that would run."

And that wasn't taking into account all the abandoned cars and other debris on the streets themselves. It hadn't been a fun trip.
