hey your weird dragon could be useful you know!!
So it is that he’s dumbfounded by the thing that bounds past him. It is a little like he imagines a dragon must be, but it has no wings to fly, and if it’s alive, it’s no kind of flesh he’s ever seen. But it’s nothing like a wight or a White Walker, either.
He tries to take it in, momentarily stunned, and as he recovers himself, he realizes that the beast has a rider. Red hair, some braids — that causes a different sort of surprise, a little pang that he thought he had put behind him. It makes him frown. She could turn up here… and some days, though it shames him, he wishes that she would.
But this woman isn’t her, and that shames him a little, too. He is small next to the rider and her mount the way he was always small next to a mammoth, and for a brief moment, he feels smaller.
“— What sort of beast is this?” he calls out.

It's only when he calls out to her that she realizes she's nearly clipped someone, doubling back and momentarily looking the slightest bit apologetic.
"No beast. A machine."
Generally, she's decided that gauging someone's general technological level is best to get out of the way, first. If they're familiar with the terminology she uses, then she'll know what playing field she's on.
"Never seen anything like it, I'm guessing?"
