( Jesper can do many things with his abilities but he really only uses what he thinks is useful. One of these days he hopes to surprise his friends with corecloth, the Durast-made bulletproof clothing all the Grisha have back home, but that is a work in progress. He is curious to hear more about these demons, or at least Dean's version of them. They do have demon-adjacent creatures back home. )

We had creatures called the volcra back home, they terrorized Ravka for a long time, but they were all killed along with their realm a few years ago. They used to be people, so they were turned into that, but couldn't be turned back.

( Very horrific, with that in mind, but they've been more of a story to him than a reality. When Saint Alina died to destroy the fold, that was that, as far as he currently knows. )

Oh I just found out about your hell. Matt explained it to me. He said that is where the dead people go who are evil, but there are demons too?

Yeah it wasn't their fault though, they weren't bad, just people. The story goes that this evil fellow named the Black Heretic ripped a line in Ravka, turning it into two parts, and creating this giant tear of pure shadow. All the people who lived there were turned into volcra.

[ It happened only two years before it, the end of the Fold and everything, but there also is an element of it that sounds like an old myth or a story told many times, rather than something that happened. ]

There was a woman, Alina Starkov, prophesized to end it, and she did. She destroyed the fold, the volcra, and the Heretic, while dying herself. That was two years ago or os.

[ The confusing part for him being of course that he met Alina Starkov right here in Cadens. She didn't look at all like the story told about her, but that would make sense if they didn't want her to be assassinated. He didn't tell her that she was destined to die though. Rude. ]

Blind guy. Nice fellow. I thought maybe he made hell up, but you're saying it's real.

[ As if Jesper didn't just say a ridiculous story about monsters and prophecies. ]
