[ you're not getting out of this, dean-y boy. sam knows where you live. he's just going to wait for the exact moment to strike. plus, the more time they have the more evidence he's going to have against you. put it off as long as you want, bud.

and dean's not wrong - sam has definitely gone directly into mission mode, a kind of furrow to his brow, a kind of tension to his jaw. dean answers the questions he asks and sam finds himself nodding, because yeah - dean's not the first nor will he be the last person to mention demons.

the fact it's just demons isn't as useful as he would have liked, but also, sam's not picky here. any kind of defense, especially if they're talking about the levels that dean is coming from, well. he nods. ]

Alright- something's better than nothing. [ sam decides not to elaborate on what his specific is this go around, and instead moves to find a spot to sit closer to where dean's got his set up. ] Does it matter where you get stuck, or size?

( He hates everything about that, thanks.

He shakes his head, one short, jerky little motion. )

Nope. Open season. ( Pause — he holds up a finger. ) One exception. I'm not putting it on your ass. I love you, but I don't love you that much.

( If Sam wanted it on a cheek he probably wouldn't be sitting down right now, but listen, let the comedian work. )

still, sam is nodding the moment dean says nope, already going through the options of what he would be alright with over the course of things, when-

sam snorts, once, before he points at dean very seriously. ]

You haven't earned the right to get up close and personal with this ass, bud. Nice try though. [ sam is reaching over to pull free the fabric of his shirt from his trousers, pulling one of his arms free and turning just so that he's giving dean the space at his back shoulder. ]

Alright, so I have to ask- how'd you find out about these? The fact they work, I mean.

The question that follows slowly wipes that grin from his face. He busies himself with the prep for Sam's shoulder with a quick alcohol rub-down. Something to do with his hands, somewhere else to put his eyes. )

My brother got possessed, once upon a time. Spent a week like that before we figured it out. The demon riding around in his skin tried to get me to kill him. ( And hot damn was that a lifetime ago, Jesus. ) After we figured it out, we uh- we had this friend. Father figure, I guess. Total freakin' genius. He dug up this symbol in some lore. Tried it on a charm necklace for a while, then figured it was safer to get a little more permanent.

sam settles easily enough as dean starts in on the process, and it's probably a good thing for dean that sam isn't facing him. can only tell from his tone, really, how much weight the stories carries. sam frowns, shakes his head. ]

[ because what else do you say about it? ] Don't know much about demons beyond Sunday School from back in the day, but I guess that's why it's a whole biblical fear. Possession, pretending to be the people you love... [ sam is only going to shrug if dean hasn't actually started the tattooing yet. ]
