EVENT #2 IC POST

Event #2
On July 11th, all of the prisoners and honored guests alike will be marched outside of the castle grounds, to a lightly forested area with a bright blue portal shining in the distance and flanked by a group of four Thornean mages.

Ambrose's Speech

"Good afternoon to you all. I suppose this is a little overdue and on that note, I am sorry. There's a lot to get done, and a lot at stake, and I find myself trapped between my duties to the crown and what I owe to you. I thank you all for your patience, save for one individual among you," he says, shooting a glare to Jon Sims, who is heavily guarded to an extent that the other prisoners are not, "But in light of a recent altercation I think it best that you all know what's going on."

"What you're about to see is an ancient artifact known as the Singularity. It has existed, as far as we know, since the dawn of time. Not only is it the source of all magic in this world, it is the life-force which sustains all other universes. If you've ever wondered why our magic seems so terribly powerful compared to yours, or why some of you have no magic at all, it's because the magic in this world sustains the Singularity and the Singularity, in turn, sustains every other universe that has ever existed or will ever exist."

"However, that does not mean that the Singularity in inherently good. It exists, and sustains your universes by random happenstance, not by design. In recent years the Singularity has begun to turn, and weaken, and for the first time in recorded history the amount of observable universes attached to it has decreased in number. If we cannot find a way to harness and re-energize it, we fear it may devour all that is to ensure its own continued existence."

"It is a known fact that we - natives of Abraxas - cannot approach the Singularity ourselves. We would be torn apart in seconds if we tried. People from other worlds have no such limitation. You may get close enough to touch it. So, while you may be upset that we have pulled you from your worlds without permission - an act for which I do apologize, and I truly wish there was a better way - you are here to save not only this world but all worlds. To understand the Singularity, we need you."

"We thank those among you, our honored guests and the prisoners we've chosen to release, who have behaved themselves and even aided us throughout the last few weeks. I caution you against becoming so smitten with our prisoners that it distracts you from what I have just said: for the sake of all universes, we must contain all threats. I've seen a great deal of possibilities, and there are times when even the best of intentions leads to disaster. To those of you who have been welcomed, you are a boon to us and we will accommodate you as much as we can, but you are still guests in this world, unwilling though you might be, and trust needs to be earned. Given your situation we want to treat you all with a certain degree of understanding and offer you some leeway that our own citizens would not receive. That does not, however, mean you have free reign to do whatever you please."

"Case in point, I regret to inform you that an honored guest, Jon Sims, did attack me and use a particularly intrusive form of magic in an attempt to extract confidential information that could have endangered my world and yours. This is considered high treason, and he will be executed by hanging on the twenty-third of August. Good day to you all, and I hope that what you are about to see impresses upon you the gravity of our situation."

The Horizon

Everyone is marched through the portal and when they emerge on the other side, what they'll see is a huge desert with a perfectly circular crater a few miles wide. At he center of the crater is the Singularity, and although it doesn't seem too imposing at this distance a certain power radiates from it. Some of the mages avert their eyes, as if they can't bear to look at it. Some of them seem almost drawn to it and they have to be held back by their fellows to prevent them from crossing the line and being torn apart. Ambrose stares, and though he doesn't approach it there's a certain amount of melancholy in his expression.

The newcomers are allowed to soak in its majesty for only a minute or two before they are yanked forwards and into the crater by something that feels like a rope coming from the inside of their chests. They are at once overwhelmed, and without exception they all black out...

...and awaken in the Horizon, where they will spend the next few weeks without memories of any world but this one, constantly aware of the Singularity and its power.

[ Not what she would have picked? Amos stares at her, expression not changing. What else would you call it, then. It's a ship. Or, more specifically, since she's asking. ]

A gunship. Corvette class. Small and fast. And yeah, she's mine. [ Where he'd kept his voice neutral before, a bit of pride seeps in at that last sentence. Leaves him just as fast. She's his and he can't even remember what her name is supposed to be. Fuck. ] There's nothing inside. It's supposed to be bigger, but there isn't enough room here.

[ He takes his eyes off of her for a moment, looking up, around. He can't see the borders to his domain, but he knows they're there when they shouldn't be. It's supposed to be an infinite nothing, but there's an end point. Something about that is wrong; makes the whole thing ring false. Amos looks down, chin dipping slightly. Back up at Himeka. ]

Maybe I could make her bigger, but this space is small. Not sure if there's a point.

[ Though it's not like he's hurting for resources. Amos looks past her, at her crystal. He finds everything too small, but her home is dwarfed by his. Weird perspective. ]

Why Mitera?

[ Shit, if Himeka's crystal has a name, maybe she can help him figure out what his ship's is supposed to be. Stupid questions aside — though maybe his is just as stupid — he doesn't think she's a threat. She's just. Here now, a part of his existence, for whatever reason. Seems okay so far. ]

[ Gunship? She can make that out as much--a vessel that is armed to some extent, likely with canons, she assumes? "Corvette" means nothing but the sound of the word is something she would like to replicate. She repeats it herself, testing out the feeling on her lips. ]

Corvette.

[ Oh yes, that is nice. She likes that name much more. ]

Small?

[ That has her blink as she looks around. Realistically she knows that the area she just came from is covered in green and rolling hills, close enough that she can make the trek in a days time. But this domain appears anything but small. Could it be a trick, much as her own dome can be? Reflections of a greater realm? ]

How big is she supposed to be?

[ She pictures something maybe twice this size. That seems perfectly feasible.

As for the name, she gives a low hum, looking at her own crystal with a clear sense of fondness. But she just shrugs before turning her attention back to him. ]

It seemed fitting. When I'm inside her embrace, it feels like the comfort of a mother watching over you. Anything special like that deserves a name, wouldn't you agree?
baltimores: (039; (doing the right thing anyway))

[personal profile] baltimores 2021-07-19 07:14 am (UTC)(link)
[ There's something nice, actually, about hearing her say Corvette. It reaffirms something. That it's the right term, a good one, fitting if not translatable. It's not a name, just a descriptor, but it's a pretty good one, and he likes that she seems to approve of the classification.

His expression opens up a little more, features softening. They're just talking. She came into his space, and now it's a conversation. Her questions are honest, he decides. Genuinely curious. He can entertain that. ]

It's supposed to be infinite. I don't know how to make that. There are barriers here and there shouldn't be. [ A hint of annoyance creeps into his voice. Even ignoring other people's stuff, there's still an invisible wall that he doesn't think anyone can get past. You can't build infinity as long as that's there. ] I think that's the only constraint. Everything else I want to do, I can. So. [ He shrugs one shoulder. ] Could be worse, I guess.

[ Could also be better, but complaining isn't going to solve an unsolvable problem. He's ready to move on. Consider Mitera, the way Himeka looks at her. That's. That's something. Kinda wonders what it's like, to look at something that way. To care about something like that.

(To have a mother watching over you. Shit. Is he familiar with that? He's not sure.)

His lips part slightly while he tries to find an answer. He's out of his depth now. Wishes he weren't. ]

Yeah.

[ His voice softens. He glances back at his ship, his replica. There's more there. Maybe not the kind of comfort she describes, but something similar, he thinks. And it's supposed to have a name. ]

My Corvette [ — that's the word she likes, he likes it, he'll use it — ] has a name. I think. I can't remember. [ He pauses, flicks his eyes over to Mitera again, if only for a second. ] It should have one.

Infinite?

[ Now there is a novel idea! She has never encountered anything infinite before, or at least not to her knowledge. Seeming endless and being endless are really two different things--she knows that her mind is only capable of comprehending so much.

Looking up and around them once more, she can see how something like this could certainly feel that way. ]

Does it look like this forever, then? Or does it change as you go along?

[ She taps her finger to her lips as she considers. She thinks it would be more interesting if things changed along the way, truly infinite possibilities. It would give you time to think up of something else fantastic as you progressed.

It should have one is such an interesting way to phrase it, yet it rings home. She's felt as if there are many things she should know, things she feels deep in her gut are familiar, but can't exactly place where or why. It could be a coincidence, but...they all awoke to this world, this existence at the same time, didn't they? It can't really be by chance.

Her gaze flicks back and forth across his face for a moment before she nods. ]

I think "Corvette" is a fine name if you wanted to use it, though mayhaps it can simply stand in until the name that feels right makes itself apparent? I have been naming things with the first word that pops into my head, though that may not be the best method.
baltimores: (077; alright)

[personal profile] baltimores 2021-07-21 08:52 am (UTC)(link)
[ She gets it, he thinks. It lets him relax a little more. He doesn't have to explain his inclination, or justify it, it can just be. That's the way things should be.

Between this, the Corvette thing, what he assumes is admiration for his domain, her affection for her own — Amos likes her. Only a faint trace of wariness remains, because who knows, really, but it's barely there. More a passive response running in the background. So instead of perhaps being defensive in his answer, he merely shakes his head, keeps his tone simple. ]

No. It's just this, forever.

[ It's a comforting thought: if he has to exist, he can exist here, where nothing really exists, nothing really happens, and he can be nothing, just like his surroundings. It's a state to default to when he's not bored, not restless, not compelled to build things like his ship or a fusion drive or whatever else will come to mind at some point. He likes it, much as he likes anything.

He looks over his Corvette, as though doing so will provide the name he needs. It doesn't. Back at Himeka, the way she's trying to help him through this. He appreciates it, at least. Feels like the kind of thing a good person would do. That's important to him, though he isn't sure why. ]

Corvette's more a classification, but I guess it works for now. It's better than nothing. [ It still feels off, but not wrong. Not hollow. And, added on, ] And if you like it.

[ He's not seeking approval or anything — more that if she likes it, it's probably the right choice for now. He doesn't have good instincts, he's pretty sure. But maybe she does. ]

I don't really know how to name things. Nothings pops into my head. If it does for you, though, then that probably isn't a bad thing. Seems like a fine method to me.

[ As much as she would like a little variety, there is something in her that says this is special, these little twinkling lights in the blanket of darkness. Stars are something to be admired and loved, so it really does not seem like that bad of an alternative.

At the addition, she nods with a smile. It matters most if it something he is happy with since it is his creation, but hearing that is kind nonetheless. ]

I do. There is something about it that is just fun to say.

[ She turns her attention back to the Corvette as she muses on her own creations. ]

Sometimes it feels too easy, if that makes sense? Like mayhaps I am not the one coming up with the names. Moogles, kojin, the mischievous brood--although the latter had certainly earned that name early on.
baltimores: (145; (goodbye))

[personal profile] baltimores 2021-07-26 07:20 am (UTC)(link)
[ He hadn't thought about it before, but it is a nice sound, isn't it? He's pretty sure his ship's actual name is, too. Probably isn't anything like Corvette, but just... a similar feeling. The kind of thing that feels right on one's tongue.

He absentmindedly puts his hand against its side, fingertips splayed, pads gently trailing on its surface, but keeps his eyes on Himeka. Two things he likes in the same space. It's nice, this little moment, one in an eternity of them.

Offers her not quite a smile, but something warm in his expression. ]

Doesn't really matter how you come up with the names, so much as you come up with them. Maybe you're just good at it. [ His eyes flick from her to her crystal. ] Mischievous brood? Is that in Mitera?

[ He doesn't think he sees anything in her. They'd have to be tiny, then. Weird, to think about how small her crystal is compared to his space, but hers might have something in it where his has nothing. Totally opposite, but it makes sense — she's friendly, he's not. Why wouldn't her crystal have things his space never will? ]
aquaveiled: (himeka-azem-037)

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2021-07-27 03:48 am (UTC)(link)
[ She does chuckle a little at that. She has the feeling that she may know some who would disagree--or, no, rather wish that she left certain things unsaid. Which is fine, even if she can't place exactly where that feeling comes from.

(Why do some things feel so close but so distant at the same time?) ]

Prolific, mayhaps? Though I'm not sure if that makes me good at it, I will take the compliment.

[ At the question of her crystal, her expression turns a little devious in and of itself as she looks towards the gently rotating stone. ]

Yes, they are. What that I could release them, I'm not sure I would be able to gather them together again. I feel they're a little too young for that.

[ Her attention shifts quickly back to Amos. ]

Would you like to meet them? They don't get many visitors.
baltimores: (101; is it always like this?)

[personal profile] baltimores 2021-07-28 08:05 am (UTC)(link)
[ Hey, if something comes that naturally, Amos figures you've gotta be good at it. He's perfectly happy to compliment her. She deserves it, doesn't she?

He raises his eyebrows at her devious expression, looks between her and her crystal. ]

Release them out here? [ There's skepticism in his voice. ] Might be hard to catch them again.

[ Since, you know. His space is built for nothing. It'd be easy to get lost if you don't know what you're doing, where you are. Never be found again. That's kind of part of the point.

At the same time, he's curious. He doesn't mind that there's nothing here. He also wouldn't mind seeing what someone else has; especially when she's, you know, nice. A good person. ]

But yeah, sure, I could meet them. If you think it's alright.

[ Something about not getting many visitors strikes a chord, but that's easy enough to ignore. ]
aquaveiled: (himeka-azem-024)

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2021-08-02 04:04 am (UTC)(link)
[ In some respects it must be easy to find them against nothing, wouldn't it? Surely her little friends would stand out! But then again, the massiveness of it all is something she is not exactly familiar with, yet feels inherent at the same time. And he says it just goes on like this until it doesn't. So strange and wonderful! ]

Great! Just give me a moment.

[ With that she turns back to her crystal and bids that it settles. The base lowers as if it touches on some ground even though there is nothing visible for it to sit on. She waves her hand in a few s-shaped waves in front of it before placing it on the side of the crystal itself. The spinning stills entirely just for a moment before suddenly coming to life. She pulls back as it spins faster, energy swirling up along the column to shoot light out from the very top. Like water from a fountain, it flows in a wide dome that lands about them, images of bright blue water begin to form along the surface. As it settles, a scene of sand, winding corals, and the shadows of fish place them suddenly at the bottom of the sea.

She smiles at the change, noting that the corvette has kept its shape inside the dome as well. The expanse of space is overshadowed entirely--at least within this small area. ]

Now, they were here not too long ago...

[ And as if on cue, a trio of blue and white baby dragons fly up from behind a rocky outcrop, doing twirls and flips in the air. ]

"You've come back!"

"You were gone for so long."

"What did you bring us?"

[ She shakes her head and motions to Amos. ]

I've brought a new friend.
baltimores: (050; (we’ll be watching))

[personal profile] baltimores 2021-08-04 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
[ He settles in, pleased at her enthusiasm. Watches with curiosity as she works on Mitera; it's like nothing he's ever seen before. He knows natural physics doesn't necessarily apply here — kind of bothers him, really — but still, everything that's happening with the crystal is strange. Different. Part of him wants to understand its mechanics, even though he knows they may never be understandable.

It stands out against the black, though. It's kind of pretty at first, the way the light shoots out, like a pulsar emitting visible light. Amos watches, mouth slightly agape, as the dome forms around them, their setting changing entirely. It could be. Could be unnerving. But this space is even smaller than his own, and she seems happy with it, so he decides to go against his gut and trust her. If shit gets bad, surely there's a way to just break out.

He doesn't take his hand off his corvette as they're immersed under water, but not, looking around, barely registering her voice. Something to anchor him at this new place he both doesn't recognize and thinks, on some level at least, he might understand.

It's weird.

The dragons are weirder. That they're talking is weird. That she carries this with her, carries other life with her, that knows her, that she can talk to—

His mind blanks out at friend. He shoots her a look, lips still parted slightly, like he wants to object, doesn't want to object, caught in some weird crosshairs, not understanding it but not hating it but it's so weird

Amos looks back at the dragons in the air before him. Shuts his jaw, finally. Removes his hand from his corvette, letting both hang limp at his sides; eventually raises one again in an approximation of a wave. ]

Hi.

[ There's so much newness going on around him now, inside him — this is about as eloquent as he gets. ]
aquaveiled: (himeka-azem-022)

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2021-08-08 03:50 am (UTC)(link)
[ At this point the whole scene is equivalent to unlocking the front door to her house...if such things involved a living waterfall of light, of course. But she is completely at home with the changes as well with the little welcoming party. That it could be overwhelming isn't something she really considered at all--too eager in her own right to see and experience everything.

The dragonets immediately turn their attention to Amos, floating and flapping their wings as their heads bob back and forth curiously. ]

"Hello!"

"What is that behind you?"

"Is it food?"

[ She laughs, shaking her head at the wily bunch, who are doubtlessly already living up to their name. ]

It is a ship called a "Corvette" and it is the distinct creation of--...

[ Her mouth hangs open for a moment as it dawns on her. She turns to Amos with an apologetic expression. ]

I was so enamored with your Corvette that I completely forgot to ask your name.
baltimores: (089; I grew up like this)

[personal profile] baltimores 2021-08-08 06:08 am (UTC)(link)
[ In her defence, it wouldn't occur to Amos to be overwhelmed, either. His speed is more along the lines of simply existing; of not really experiencing much one way or another. So being able to identify his emotions, let alone express that's what he's actually feeling would be so far out of bounds for him, it might as well not be happening.

Not unless things get really bad, which, they're not. Instead, everything is just... awe-inspiring, the more obvious it becomes this is all just an extension of friendship.

He doesn't hate it. Furrows his brows slightly at the suggestion his ship might be food, turns back to look at his first visitor when she asks for his name without actually asking. ]

Amos.

[ Asking for names isn't really something that occurs to him to do; they're just names. They don't matter much. Not here, at least, he thinks; maybe there was somewhere they did, but he can't recall. Either way.

He turns back to the dragonet that is apparently hungry. ]

Unless you eat metal and wires, it's probably not food.

[ And he's pretty sure there isn't anything that actually does that. Either way, he isn't too concerned with them. They're friendly, just like she is. He can't exactly reciprocate the sentiment, but he can at least make an attempt. And she'd asked him. So. Back to her, curiosity in his voice. ]

Who're you?
aquaveiled: (himeka-azem-027)

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2021-08-10 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
[ She gives a nod, accepting the name without pause as she addresses the three dragonets once again. ]

A creation of Amos.

[ The dragonets exchange glances as if silent questioning whether or not metal and wires would be edible, but seem to come to the conclusion that he is correct--it doesn't sound at all that tasty. ]

"Then what does it do?"

"Does it fly?"

"Can we see it fly?"

[ At this point she interjects again, although she really isn't putting forth as much effort as she ought to in order to control them. Truthfully she rarely sees need to. They are just...you know. Like that. As it should be. ]

Mayhaps we can limit it to one question at a time?

[ To Amos' question, of course, she is happy to answer in kind. ]

Hemera. Though my friends call me "Era", I think!

[ One of the dragonets shakes its head. ]

"I don't."

[ But another does a flip mid-air. ]

"I do!"

Well, some of them, at least. Anyway! Amos, this is Ohl Dekh, Ehl Khai, and Orn Dohl.

[ Each dragonet does a little wiggle as its announced--but, alas, they are woefully identical. ]
baltimores: (108; smell that good)

[personal profile] baltimores 2021-08-11 10:39 am (UTC)(link)
Era.

[ He tries out the nickname, decides he likes the way it sounds. Short and sweet and still full of possibilities, almost representative of this place he's decided to make his home. It's fitting. Like she'd decided Corvette was fitting, Era suits her. And he's been given permission to use it.

His lips quirk upwards, a small, genuine smile. Maybe names are important. Things certainly feel more... whole, maybe, than they did before.

He isn't even bothered by how indistinguishable the dragonets are from one another, trying out their names the same as he did Era's. And then, a hint of pride creeping into his voice, good humour taking over, ]
Yeah, it flies. Not like you guys, though. It uses a fusion drive to power it to travel great distances. [ A frown, as he looks around the dome they're in. ] I don't think this place is big enough for it to fly, though.

[ And outside of here, in his own void, it's not nearly as big as it should be, so there isn't much point. Just one of many little things that feel... wrong.

This, though. Era and her dragonets being here. Somehow, that part feels right. ]
aquaveiled: (himeka-azem-015)

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2021-08-13 08:54 pm (UTC)(link)
[ The dragonets likewise are visibly pleased when he says each of their names. Names are important, after all, and even the myriad of different creatures that pop up within the dome each carry one happily.

The words he uses are unsurprisingly foreign to Hemera and the dragonets, who all exchange glances with one another. Hemera shrugs with a shake of her head when all three eventually look to her for guidance. ]

"What is a 'fusion drive'?"

"It must be a combination of things!"

"Yes but
what things, Orn Dohl? Don't speak as if you know!"

[ Hemera lets out a laugh and shakes her head again. ]

If you would but listen for a moment your questions may yet be answered!

[ For her warning, one of the dragonets still floats over to Amos and looks as hopeful as beady dragon eyes can. ]

"Can you teach us how to make one?"

"Yes we would like a toy to fly around with!"
baltimores: (115; it’s not gonna get any better)

[personal profile] baltimores 2021-08-15 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
[ Amos pauses. He's not sure if the dragonets can make one on their own; the way he made his corvette doesn't even really make that much sense, forming matter out of nothing. He glances at Era, slightly unsure — can she make things on her own the same way? Is that where all of this came from? — but an idea occurs to him.

Turning back to the dragonet that's made its way over to him, Amos looks into its eyes, gives it an almost imperceptible nod. ]

I can make one for you.

[ He likes the idea — of being able to make an appropriately-sized ship that will have somewhere to fly. So he gets to work, recreating the exact same shape and design of his corvette behind him, only dragonet-sized, starting from its base and working his way up to the nose of the ship, wires forming out of nowhere, connecting and metal panels fitting themselves over them as he works. When he's done, a small plume of blue flame emits from the base and the mini-corvette starts moving upwards, slowly, at a leisurely pace.

He looks back up at the dragonet, considering. It's not like these come with instruction manuals, huh. So, ]

You can change where it's going by pointing it in a new direction. If the drive goes out it'll stop flying and fall to the ground, since there's gravity here. I think you can — hold on—

[ Hadn't thought of how a dragonet could operate a ship, especially from the outside, since it's not big enough for them to get in. Even if it was, would they know how to work a control panel? Amos pictures how everything connects, its interior design, and forms a button along one of the mini-ship's sides. ]

You can push that to turn it off and on. I think that'll work.
aquaveiled: (himeka-azem-036)

[personal profile] aquaveiled 2021-08-20 12:31 am (UTC)(link)
[ As soon as he says that he can make one, the dragonets immediately start to bob up and down in excitement. Hemera is, of course, equally curious but her interest pales in comparison to the way the dragonets flutter about and circle around Amos as he works.

It does seem practiced, in a way, and not necessarily just because they're all Creators in this world. Though Hemera has likewise found conjuration to feel as natural as anything should, it has varied greatly between the different things she has created. Some come to mind instantly and seem to become whole in a way that makes perfect sense from the start. Others? Need tweaking and she still cannot figure them out. For Amos, this seems to be the former--he knows where each piece should fit with the next.

Once it is completed, Hemera steeples her fingers and leans forward to inspect it as well, though she is admittedly shoved to the side by one of the dragonets. It is their gift, after all. ]

"We know how to fly!"

[ Hemera raises a brow. ]

"I want to start it!"

[ A dragonet bops one of the buttons on the side with the to of its head, and sure enough, the mini-Corvette starts to move. All three squeak in glee and follow it immediately, weaving up and around it to see if they can likewise direct it with the flapping of their wings.

Not...quite as intended. But it's clear that they are helplessly enamored from the start.

Hemera shakes her head, amused as she turns her attention back to Amos. ]

It's safe to say that they enjoy your gift. You have all our thanks.
baltimores: (107; protein bar don’t)

[personal profile] baltimores 2021-08-20 11:42 pm (UTC)(link)
[ Amos watches the dragonets play with their new toy, completely unaware of the smile on his face. He's never. He doesn't know what this is, just, he really, really likes it. It's a different kind of warmth from what Era has given him — still bright but more raw, less contained. Something unabashed. Can't help but feel like he's done something really good here, watching other beings be happy because of something he did.

He looks back to Era, shrugs like it's nothing, but it's pretty clear he's pleased with how all of this has unfolded. ]

Sure. Kinda nice, seeing them all fly together like that. [ A beat. ] You know, I don't know what I was picturing when you said mischievous brood, but I like 'em.

[ She's quiet for a moment, seeing this equally soft-spoken man slowly bloom with happiness and pride. It really is the best feeling when you get to do something kind for another person, isn't it? Yet the unbridled joy he seems to be taking out of it is unexpected.

When he turns his attention back to her, she can only widen her own smile in kind. ]

They do grow on you quickly, don't you?

[ Of course she is biased since she brought them into existence, but Hemera is terribly fond of them. Mayhaps that's why they appear in every iteration of her dome? ]

I am sure they would love to see what you can come up with next, ere they fly their new little Corvette through as many skies as I can conjure. You are, of course, more than welcome to visit as often as you would like. We don't get visitors as often as we would like.

[ He hadn't known what to make of her when he'd first seen Era suddenly in his space, approaching his ship. If she was there to threaten him, take something away from him, or what. That their encounter has turned into this is something Amos could have never imagined; that they're smiling at one another a completely foreign concept to him, but one he knows he likes so much he'll miss it when it inevitably ends. People move on, after all.

So when she says he can visit as often as he likes... that gives him pause; mutes his expression some, making him go from effortlessly happy to someone who actually has to think about, acknowledge that emotion.

He hadn't been expecting that, is all. ]

Yeah?

[ That somehow, someone as great as she is — as good a person as she is — doesn't get enough visitors strikes him as wrong, unnatural. He pauses. ]

I'd like that. [ He would. Truly. ] How do I find you again?

[ Her own world is so small, after all. And she'd just... brought it with her. Kind of like having her own ship to travel in, or rather, with. The more he sits with the idea, the more he finds he likes it — same as with everything else about meeting her. ]

[ She nods in earnest. Something tells her that while it is her purpose to travel from place to place, to meet others and learn of them before moving onto the next, that there are also places and people she would like to return to. This is definitely one of them. Quiet and reserved as he is, everything she reads from Amos is honest and earnest.

And those are the best kind of people. ]

Of course.

[ But given that she is want to wander, it is a fair question. She thinks on it for just a moment, tapping her finger to her lips when an idea occurs to her. It seems so obvious!

Without explanation, she holds both of her hands out, palms facing upwards as she gathers light from the air around them, slowly swirling in on itself and glowing a bright blue. It only takes half a minute at most for a crystal to form floating above her palms--a miniature Mitera, with a single orbiting golden band. ]

Here, you can use this.

[ She says simply with a smile. ]

Leave this by your Corvette and you can travel between your world of stars and wherever we happen to be when you want to visit. And back again, of course!

[ He watches as she brings blue light to her, face impassive, expressionless even though he feels a surge of. He's not sure what. Just that blue light, it's, that means something, and he doesn't think it's something good. But at the same time, he knows that what she's bringing about her isn't that — especially when it forms another crystal, especially when it comes with a bit of gold, and a tension Amos didn't know he'd been holding leaves him.

He takes the crystal from her, gentle, like it's an object to be treasured. It is, isn't it? ]

I will.

[ A ghost a smile shifts back into his expression; none of the raw joy from before, but what passes for happiness for him. Didn't think, in the midst of all this darkness, he'd find a friend. ]

I'll see you again, Era.
