August Catch-All
Who: Obi-Wan Kenobi, Dean Winchester & assorted flies on the wall of the roadhouse, other Abraxian Force-users, and YOU?
What: Obi-Wan adjusts to life in Solvunn and Abraxas as his connection to the Force returns, and he is introduced to the Horizon. Dean Winchester loses his mind very publicly when a Jedi walks into his bar and becomes insufferable for weeks. Attempting to reach out with the Force to see if he's the only one trained in its ways has...unexpected results.
When: Throughout August.
Where: Solvunn, the Horizon (Obi-Wan's domain, Dean's roadhouse)
Warnings: Potential spoilers for the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV show. Possibly discussion of trauma in the Force thread.
Misc: Threadjacking is both allowed and encouraged in the Roadhouse thread if you want your character to be present when Obi-Wan comes in.
The Force Is With You, Always [Open]
It happens gradually, over the course of the first week, as Ben was assured it would. As the days pass he slowly begins to feel his connection to the Force growing again. A momentary sensing of another's emotion, maybe. Stopping, reaching out discreetly with his hand, and sending a twig skittering across the ground. A momentary burst of speed. It grows from there.
When Obi-Wan is truly ready to test that his connection has returned, he walks into the woods. Not far, but enough that he can be assured some measure of privacy. Partly it's that old habits die hard, and he's still leery about demonstrating his use of the Force in public, even though the Empire doesn't exist here. And because even with his connection re-opened, he neglected his training for so long after beginning his exile on Tatooine that even with his recent experience, it's better he test this alone, just in case.
Or so he hopes.
There's a field, hidden back from the roads that crisscross the settlement that Obi-Wan finds. It also happens to have a moss covered-boulder and a few other large stones that are suitable for his needs. Setting his walking stick down, Ben takes a swig from his canteen of water; it's mid-morning and there's little shade from the late summer sun.
Hydrated, Ben begins his experimentations. He holds out his hand, closes his eyes, concentrates. It's not as seamless as he'd like; he has to focus more, but there isn't pain, not like when he had to save a falling child by stopping her descent on Daiyu. It's like using muscles that have atrophied; Ben's have recovered somewhat, but maybe he hasn't quite yet shaken off the summoning weakness entirely.
Regardless, the boulder, and then the other rocks, do rise. Shakily, at first, but several meters off from the ground, they appear to stabilize. Ben's eyes open, and he's satisfied to see. "Welcome back, old friend." He says with a smile. "Now, let's put ourselves through our paces."
Raising his other hand, he begins to move the boulders, rotating them around each other, slowly at first, keeping control tight while he gets his bearings. The pattern becomes more intricate as Ben becomes more certain, some of the rocks disengaging and forming a vertical circle to rotate within the horizontal. It's all about keeping concentration, and control, keeping both circles going simultaneously. It's good to feel the Force flowing through him again, speaking to him in its way. Not with words, the Force is more than that, but speaking all the same if you know to listen.
The circles expand, contract, still spinning. It's good, but Ben is starting to feel winded. he's going to have to wrap this up soon, take a breather before resuming. Maybe a run through a thick part of the forest, test his ability to see without looking. Though that brings the risk of bruises...
He begins to slow down the rocks, beginning to lower them down back onto the grass gently. A good start...and also a good time to speak up if for whatever reason you happened to find Ben in the middle of his training.
A Hive of Scum & Villainy [Featuring Dean and Assorted Barflies]
It doesn't take more than a week or two for Ben to be introduced to the Horizon; he's heard the name crop up several times in conjunction with the Singularity before a more veteran Summoned takes him out there.
By the time of his second visit, Ben's Domain has more or less taken shape; a miniature recreation of the Jedi Temple and its gardens on Coruscant, or at least a part of it, before the Empire appropriated it to turn into the Imperial Palace, a mockery of the noble institution it had once been. It's also non-specific enough that just in case anyone with Imperial leanings has come to Abraxas, Ben's Domain will not give them any indication as to his present location back in the galaxy.
With his pwn presence established, Ben decides to take a tour of the other Domains, especially those of Summoned outside of Solvunn; surely despite the factionalism they've all been presented with, the Summoned have common cause with each other, and Ben wishes to reach out if he can.
The Roadhouse then, seems like an ideal place to start. It's of a style Ben doesn't recognize, but at the end of the day, a cantina is a cantina, and there's a certain air to them that is...unmistakable. Dressed in the attire of an Anchorhead native, Ben enters the Roadhouse, taking stock of the surroundings. Maybe there are a few other people there, enjoying the peace. And there's a man working behind the bar, who seems to be the one to talk to first; if he's the owner of this domain, it's only right to introduce himself first.
Ben slides onto a stool next to the bar, nodding at anyone else who might be there before, turning his attention to the proprietor. "What would you recommend on tap?" He asks by way of introduction.
A Presence I've Not Felt Since... [Closed to Force-Users]
Once his connection to the Force has returned, and his Domain in the Horizon established as neutral ground does Ben move onto the riskier part of his plans. There's been a question lingering in his mind since the first day...he does not know that he is the only one from his galaxy to be brought here. And if there are more, how he might learn about them, and where they stand. On a number of issues.
It's not a foolproof plan, but in the end, using his domain as a meeting-ground, Ben elects to see if there are any other Force-users out there. Unthinkable back home, where doing so would almost certainly act as a beacon for every Inquisitor in the Empire to hone in on him. Or someone far worse. But if there are other Jedi here, in the other nations, that's something Ben can work with. Something he needs to know.
And if there are Force-sensitives who are not Jedi, then that is also important to know. It's a risk, and one he would never have dreamed up even six months ago, but this is a vastly different situation, and things needn't be the same here as they are back home. As always, he will put his trust in the Force.
Finding a spot to meditate, Ben begins. He reaches out, beyond the farms and cottages of the Primary Settlement, further and further away to Solvunn's borders and beyond, stretching his consciousness as far as he can, hoping to find anyone out there who might be primed to listen.
If you are one of those people, it's like a tingling in your mind, the presence of someone both very near and yet at the same time very far. A sense of questioning, curiosity. Flashes of images. The Singularity. A building of steel and serene-looking gardens. A terrace overlooking a vast cityscape that may look hauntingly familiar. The message is clear enough. Someone has reached out. They're waiting in the Horizon. They want to meet.
And whoever they are, they're probably a Jedi.

Hit me up for something else, TDM continuations, or around Solvunn if you want! I can work with anything you want to throw at me.

Never in a million goddamn years would've expected this one, though.
"Well, we got cold beer, cheap whiskey, and-" He starts his sentence with his back largely turned to Obi-Wan Benjamin You're Our Only God Damn Hope Kenobi, in the middle of wiping out a glass he doesn't actually need to hand-wash but nevertheless does anyway. Makes it about half-way through before he finally turns and looks at the new face, just to stop abruptly and deer in the god damn headlights.
"Wait."
A beat.
"Wait. Hang on."
A quick glance around at the existing bar population — there aren't that many people, and the ones that are in don't seem to be paying much attention (yet), so he's got no backup here to confirm for him.
But still.
Holy shit.
Wait.
"No way. No friggin' way."

That's recognition in the other man's eyes, the amazement in his voice, and it confuses him. Ben wants to say he's never met the man before, but it's hard to say. He's no one from Tatooine, of that the Jedi is sure of, but before that?
He doesn't feel any sense of danger, or aggression, but ten years of living under the Empire's radar have made him cautious. "I don't believe we've met." Ben clarifies. "Are you all right, young man?"

Where Ben looks hesitant and wary, Dean's lighting up like a god damn competitive Christmas tree on Hanukkah. This is all the delight of a thirteen year old boy coming out in full force — to the extent that he beams over at one or two of the patrons. Inej, Jo, whoever happens to be around. Then, brightly informs them (as though they're deaf and didn't catch it the first time), "It's freaking Obi-Wan Kenobi."
And then all attention goes back to Ben, complete with emphatic hand gestures because apparently when he's hype he talks with his whole damn body.
"Dude, you're- wow. You're awesome. I can't believe it. This is insane. Seriously. It's nuts. This is nuts. This is, like, the coolest thing that's ever happened to anyone- ever. Holy crap."
He gestures grandly to the glorious (modest) array of mediocre liquor surrounding him.
"Whatever you want, man. Take your pick. On the house. No charge."
...not that anyone pays for anything here, it's all imaginary and the points don't matter.

Today finds her in the midst of a game of Knife Chess with Jo Harvelle, apparent actual heir to this place, if the name on the sign means anything at all, when there is an absolute explosion of child-like glee from Dean, somewhere near the bar. Inej can't stop turning to glance his way.
"It's freaking Obi-Wan Kenobi."
Said like the name should mean something. It doesn't, not to her, but she exchanges a glance with the older woman, barely containing a laugh, and not at all containing the cheeky, pure teenager amusement on her face. "Does that mean something to you?"
no subject
But it's far too much to ask of her to be anything other than honest when Inej looks back, trying to find some understanding of Dean's inanity, and she's twirling her knife in her hand, again, errantly, like someone whose done it for so long it's a worn in habit they don't even think of before they're already doing it again.
"Yeah. That Dean is a Class A dork."
Dean, who can likely hear her just as fine, too,
gets flashed a bright, wickedly unapologetic smirk.
no subject
Meanwhile, Dean is still gushing. It's...a little strange to see.
And it's probably equally foolish of Ben to ask Dean to "keep it down". There's no Empire here, no Jedi-hunters he has to be looking over one shoulder for, but it's been a way of life for him for so long, for survival, that hearing a stranger just bark out his real name sets off some deeply-ingrained alarms. And Dean is definitely not acting like an enemy.
"...Forgive me. I wasn't expecting to be recognized." He admits, once the initial shock passes. "But you seem to have me at a disadvantage. Have we met before?"
no subject
There's a fleeting moment between that and Ben's question, and Dean spends it shooting a look over at the peanut gallery, muttering an annoyed, "Shut up. Don't ruin this for me."
He's having a moment, okay. This is magical. This is what dreams are made of.
Focus.
"No, no, nonono," he laughs awkwardly, like the notion's absolutely absurd. Because it is. Dean's never even come close to meeting Ewan Friggin McGregor, let alone... you know. "No, you're uh-"
Crap. How do you explain something like this to somebody like that?
"Famous," he settles on lamely, unconvincingly. "Where I'm from. Like... dude. Holy crap."
He'll remember to introduce himself eventually. Probably.
