He waits until there's a lull in her spellcasting before she speaks, though. Familiar as someone using magic might be, the actual spellwork is not anything he is familiar with, and he is loath to interrupt on the off chance that doing so might prove to be ill-advised.]
An offering? Or merely an attempt to ensure such places do not fall into disrepair?
no subject
she had thought she had gone far away enough to work on this by herself.]
Neither.
[standing up, she pushes at her knees, sets herself upright to glance at her work. only then does she look back at him. solvunn has given her things she has lost, even if it's just a home to be in.]
After last month, any small thing can better life for those in the settlement. [things like flowers growing despite the chill, the revitalization of nature despite their decay.] Just having a casual stroll yourself?
no subject
Instead, he waits patiently as she pushes herself upright, and only after she turns to look at him does he speak up again.]
It can, yes.
[And he certainly cannot deny that the previous month has been... fraught, to say the least. The sort of thing where the simple touch of a moment's beauty, out of season though it might be, could well be a comfort.]
And yes. I had meant to make the most of last moments of what passes for fall, here. Though your magic did offer some reason to change my course.
no subject
it is his mention of her magic that she latches on to, though. her arms cross.]
I wasn't looking to make a spectacle of it.
[that much is true, though others being curious of magic isn't entirely unusual here.]
no subject
You had not. My senses are... sharper than most, when it comes to being aware of magic.
[His own curiosity had seen to the rest.]
But should you wish it, I will make no mention of this to others.

[is her reply, quick and unflustered by the circumstances. she had been using her magic around solvunn without hiding it, really, but not wanting it to be a spectacle is more so her not wanting to have a crowd or the expectation of praise any time she used it.
magic can be, after all, a very personal thing, especially one that holds fast to the whims of one's emotions and the infinite chaos of probabilities.
wanda steps forward, then, towards emet-selch, and then past him towards the path, to make her way back to the settlement. he can do whatever he wants with what he's seen.]
There's a lot of magic in unexpected places here. [in solvunn] Old magic.
[unusual magic, as those native to solvunn cast spells with offerings and rituals, so unlike what wanda herself is familiar with.]
no subject
Still, he leaves that line of thinking be, and instead offers a simple nod in answer to her comment before falling into step with her as she starts to make her way back to the settlement.]
I am hardly surprised. Even before... recent events, Solvunn has ever favored the Old Gods. It is hardly a surprise, then, that older forms of magic should remain here, when they might not do so elsewhere.
no subject
[being as favored in magic as he is, emet-selch must have definitely taken into the effects of the omens as something not exactly as depicted. rumors circulate already amidst the settlements, but more so among the summoned. rumors of sacrifices, of something they can't quite shut out now, that it's only a matter of time.
wanda has her own theories, but she'll keep them close to her chest for now.]
no subject
[That the omens have ceased to manifest themselves is better than nothing, yes. But given that there is little to say that they might not do so again... he has concerns, even if they are not yet particularly pronounced.]
