[Emet-Selch has no particular loyalty to any of the old gods. Less, even, after events that have recently occurred. But he does still make something of an effort to spend some of his day outside, even despite the distinct chill to the air of late. Nor can he deny that the gentle feeling of magic is something that is... not unsurprising, but still a rarity, this far from most of the common parts of the settlement. And that is more than enough to have him making his way over to Wanda's side.

He waits until there's a lull in her spellcasting before she speaks, though. Familiar as someone using magic might be, the actual spellwork is not anything he is familiar with, and he is loath to interrupt on the off chance that doing so might prove to be ill-advised.]

An offering? Or merely an attempt to ensure such places do not fall into disrepair?

[Emet-Selch, perhaps unsurprisingly, offers no answer to that questioning look. He certainly has no problems with anything she's just been doing, but anything past that is not something that he offers immediately.

Instead, he waits patiently as she pushes herself upright, and only after she turns to look at him does he speak up again.]

It can, yes.

[And he certainly cannot deny that the previous month has been... fraught, to say the least. The sort of thing where the simple touch of a moment's beauty, out of season though it might be, could well be a comfort.]

And yes. I had meant to make the most of last moments of what passes for fall, here. Though your magic did offer some reason to change my course.

[In Emet-Selch's opinion, the presence of snow would hardly have been enough to make matters any more bearable. The cold is much the same either way - if not worse - and it's the cold he dislikes, more so than anything else. Still, he's more than willing to let the conversation continue on the topic of magic, rather than attempt to steer it to anything else.]

You had not. My senses are... sharper than most, when it comes to being aware of magic.

[His own curiosity had seen to the rest.]

But should you wish it, I will make no mention of this to others.

[It certainly can be, and for all that Emet-Selch has grown accustomed to using his own magic as either a distraction or something to call attention to either himself or something he might otherwise wish to have that attention on, he is certainly no stranger to the idea that it might also be a more personal matter. Especially when the matter of emotions or personal desires begin to color the shape of any given sort of magic.

Still, he leaves that line of thinking be, and instead offers a simple nod in answer to her comment before falling into step with her as she starts to make her way back to the settlement.]

I am hardly surprised. Even before... recent events, Solvunn has ever favored the Old Gods. It is hardly a surprise, then, that older forms of magic should remain here, when they might not do so elsewhere.

I have seen such omens rise only once before, in all the long centuries of my life. And while I do not believe the doom that befell our civilization is like to repeat here, it nevertheless does not bode well.

[That the omens have ceased to manifest themselves is better than nothing, yes. But given that there is little to say that they might not do so again... he has concerns, even if they are not yet particularly pronounced.]
