INTRO LOG #2
Intro Log #2
It has been two months now since the initial group of summonings first took place. Castle Thorne, or at least the part above ground, is buzzing with a vibrant air of hope following the 'success' at the Singularity. Eager smiles and excited chattering are to be found in nearly every corner of the castle and surrounding town. The honored guests may find grateful looks turned their way more often than not. A new and brighter day seems to be dawning on the kingdom.
In the dungeons it's a different story entirely. The mood is somber and uneasy. The prisoner taken for trial has yet to return, and no word has come regarding her or her fate. There has been no mention of any further trials as of yet and guards seem to have little patience for unruly behavior or even conversation. Some seem to not even look at or acknowledge the prisoners at all.
[ Feel free to continue threads from the TDM here or start your own! As cell and room assignments will be short-lived due to this month's event, you're free to assume whichever cellmates and roommates you like instead of officially signing up as long as there are ICly no more than four people in a cell or room at once. ]

"Well-- look, my mother was- she did her best, there's no need to go insulting her because you think I'm being a prat." He moves towards the cell bars, getting as good a look at her as he can with his limited range. "And it's not stupid, it's optimistic. You've got to at least pretend there's hope, or..."
And he trails off, for a moment, as the stress of what could happen strangles him, and he swallows thickly to get past it. "W-well, I'm sure we all know what."

Maybe it's more effective coming from her than most others, with her skeletal appearance and husky, monotonous voice.
"Why waste your time pretending? Sir, in my head, all is pretend, but I wake up to bars once more. It hurts to pretend."
no subject
"It's not like I don't know we're going to die, miss," he says, just a touch impatiently. "A-and I'm sure that being here for-- for probably months has taken its toll, yes. But that cant' be all there is, surely."

Eponine's head lolls languidly to the side and she presses her hollow cheek to the bar, peering through the darkness to Martin's form.
"Should you escape, you must walk days to a town. Then you must hide, for if they see you, there is magic about to know you are a runaway and back to prison. Only not here, tiny rooms with no bed, no covers, no food, only light always. You should die, M'sieur. I wished to, but alas, I am a cockroach. I shan't die so easy."
She chuckles, the sound echoing eerily off the bars.
"There is no point to hope, Sir, to you'll end up sad"
