INTRO LOG #2

Intro Log #2
It has been two months now since the initial group of summonings first took place. Castle Thorne, or at least the part above ground, is buzzing with a vibrant air of hope following the 'success' at the Singularity. Eager smiles and excited chattering are to be found in nearly every corner of the castle and surrounding town. The honored guests may find grateful looks turned their way more often than not. A new and brighter day seems to be dawning on the kingdom.

In the dungeons it's a different story entirely. The mood is somber and uneasy. The prisoner taken for trial has yet to return, and no word has come regarding her or her fate. There has been no mention of any further trials as of yet and guards seem to have little patience for unruly behavior or even conversation. Some seem to not even look at or acknowledge the prisoners at all.

[ Feel free to continue threads from the TDM here or start your own! As cell and room assignments will be short-lived due to this month's event, you're free to assume whichever cellmates and roommates you like instead of officially signing up as long as there are ICly no more than four people in a cell or room at once. ]

Louis is right; Link doesn't have the mind or disposition for politics. He took up the sword at a young age and he's been bashed in the head a lot more than once. He is very lucky that the royal family of Zora's Domain recognize his good intentions and his sorrow for their lost princess...

But if the matter is really as simple as Louis says, then Link is sure there is no kingdom on Hyrule that would benefit from inaction. The choice should be clear to every Zora.

"I see!" Link announces, in the kind of tone that assures anyone listening that he has taken exactly what he needed out of Louis's explanation, and not a single word more. "I was fortunate to meet you here today, to set my mind at ease. Can I ask your name, deer-man?"

Well, if he has to be dumb, at least he's well-meaning and dumb. Louis lets out a soft sigh before straightening his head.

"I'm pleased to be of service. My name is Louis. And you?"

He pauses a beat, but he really can't help but say-- "And I'm a deer. Not a deer-man. Just a deer."

Well, Link is nothing if not extremely well meaning and dumb. He looks genuinely sheepish about having apparently mis-labeled Louis, though a touch confused. Louis is clearly more than a deer, much as he superficially looks and smells like one.

"I'm Link. I -"

He pauses for a beat, hesitating over what to call himself. He's used to introducing himself as a traveler, but they're all very far from home, here. Every one of them.

"- I was a knight of Hyrule."

"A knight, you say? Interesting, that a knight would be sent as a diplomat."

Louis supposes it's not so weird that other worlds would be in different 'time periods' than his. But even so, he doesn't think there was any time in which a single knight (a dumb but well-meaning one at that) was considered a proper diplomat in times of conflict.

Link briefly rubs at the back of his neck. Well, there's no denying that diplomacy was never meant to be his area of expertise. Much as he's managed to bumble his way through forging positive foreign relations on the merit of his accomplishments in battle alone, but in an ideal world...

Well, to say nothing of the Calamity - the ideal life he'd always imagined as a knight of the royal guard was lost to him the moment he pulled the master sword and inherited all the responsibility he has now. Link is aware of this, but he tries not to think too long or too hard on it.

It's easier for him to simply shrug off the question.

"There aren't many of us left."
