INTRO LOG #2

Intro Log #2
It has been two months now since the initial group of summonings first took place. Castle Thorne, or at least the part above ground, is buzzing with a vibrant air of hope following the 'success' at the Singularity. Eager smiles and excited chattering are to be found in nearly every corner of the castle and surrounding town. The honored guests may find grateful looks turned their way more often than not. A new and brighter day seems to be dawning on the kingdom.

In the dungeons it's a different story entirely. The mood is somber and uneasy. The prisoner taken for trial has yet to return, and no word has come regarding her or her fate. There has been no mention of any further trials as of yet and guards seem to have little patience for unruly behavior or even conversation. Some seem to not even look at or acknowledge the prisoners at all.

[ Feel free to continue threads from the TDM here or start your own! As cell and room assignments will be short-lived due to this month's event, you're free to assume whichever cellmates and roommates you like instead of officially signing up as long as there are ICly no more than four people in a cell or room at once. ]

Most fields of magic do require some amount of study. Enough so that there are few people these days who are willing to look beyond the carefully codified structures of that field. Be it one of the healing arts, or more... destructive magics.

[That said, neither can he entirely blame most people for use magic either to harm or to heal, when there are so few places across the whole of the Source (and her shards besides) that are particularly well-advanced when it comes to technology.]

Those are, however, only the most common uses. The sorcerers of Mhach learned how to summon voidsent and harness their power, while the scholars of Allag sought methods to harness god-like entities. To say nothing of the numerous records of curses that exist across the ages.

[ Well, obviously the way he says destructive has pinged his attention. Curses and shit, too. Now they're talking. ]

That goes for any field, doesn't it? You pick a specialty and get really, really good at it. It's not like a beginner is about to harness anything god-like. [ Now that's a thought. Probably an unrealistic one, but hey, it's important to have dreams. ] Still, it's good to know magic isn't so dull where you're from.

[ Wouldn't that be something, being from somewhere where you could do the impossible and it's just mending scrapes and bruises. Like a terrible cosmic joke. Fortunately, it doesn't seem like that's the case here; in this world, he can actually learn some real magic. ]

You see anything similar to what you know here? I almost wonder if it's better to already have a foot in the door — [ like Emet seems to — ] or start from scratch.
