INTRO LOG #2

Intro Log #2
It has been two months now since the initial group of summonings first took place. Castle Thorne, or at least the part above ground, is buzzing with a vibrant air of hope following the 'success' at the Singularity. Eager smiles and excited chattering are to be found in nearly every corner of the castle and surrounding town. The honored guests may find grateful looks turned their way more often than not. A new and brighter day seems to be dawning on the kingdom.

In the dungeons it's a different story entirely. The mood is somber and uneasy. The prisoner taken for trial has yet to return, and no word has come regarding her or her fate. There has been no mention of any further trials as of yet and guards seem to have little patience for unruly behavior or even conversation. Some seem to not even look at or acknowledge the prisoners at all.

[ Feel free to continue threads from the TDM here or start your own! As cell and room assignments will be short-lived due to this month's event, you're free to assume whichever cellmates and roommates you like instead of officially signing up as long as there are ICly no more than four people in a cell or room at once. ]

[ When the dinosaurs got wiped out? Curious, she is acquainted enough with the different types of dinosaur that live across Eorzea. It's a shame to think that they may have been targeted on Amos' star for one reason or another. (Weak to Earth, mayhaps? She can't really say and it doesn't seem like Amos has much of an idea either.)

He's definitely right about one thing, at least-- ]

Yes, as long as you make it out there's opportunity to rebuild. Can't really do that if you don't survive.

[ She's seen the hopelessness in the faces of people who had lost everything, and those were the same people with the same resolve to go forward. It's more than she would have ever expected of herself. Himeka is always impressed by the will to live against all odds.

Himeka shakes her head, stretching her arms out up as far as they can go. ]

I think that if you've survived the end of your world...

[ And drops her arms back down onto her knees. ]

...then weathering a dungeon for a little longer should be pretty easy, shouldn't it?

[ Then she nods. ]

We'll get out. I'm not sure how yet, but we will.

[ His sigh is more like a shaky exhalation. She sounds so much like Holden right now, and he misses Cap so much it might actually hurt. Amos isn't the type to think about rebuilding — just survival. Rebuilding is for the Holdens of the world. And the Himekas, maybe. He's the kind of guy who just tries to bring them to that finish line, not to actually do anything with it after. He wouldn't know how.

He watches her as she stretches her arms, his own hanging limply in his lap. He was on a weight bench and they've been talking so long — connecting, maybe — that his arms aren't even sore from the previous exertion anymore, sweat cooled from his skin. His expression is blank. It's a nice thought, but... ]

I guess. [ He wouldn't argue with Holden or Naomi if they'd presented this level of optimism, so he won't argue with Hime, either. Just. ] I had shit to do at the end of the world, though. Here it's just. Waiting.

[ He swallows, thick. Nothing dislodges. It never does. ]

Don't know how much longer I can wait.

[ That is certainly something she can relate to. Too much to do, not enough time, especially when you're whisked away to some other shard. She knows what she and Estinien have left behind and the trials that stand before them...and she can only imagine what others have to face. What Amos need to seek out his sea of stars. ]

Waiting is definitely the hardest part.

[ Her tail thumps a few times in thought. ]

But I find it does go by a little faster with company.
baltimores: (051; okay)

just tying a bow on this wrap, don't mind me!

[ He nods, but the action is absent of any real meaning, any real thought. More just an acknowledgment.

She's probably right. Has a hell of a better chance than he does, he knows that much about her. But saying it only means so much. Looking back on it now, he knows he felt better in those moments when Himeka was distracting him, completely dislodging his train of thought. But they're back to square one anyway, and a few moments' reprieve only means so much.

So he nods, and he stays hunched over, blank gaze staring out at the wall ahead of them, encasing them. ]
