Who: wanda and others When: april & may Where: solvunn, horizon What: catch-all for the month, closed and open prompts within. Warnings: none at the moment, will mark as needed.
[slow dancing, and yet she's having an extravagantly hard time keeping to the rhythm of this jazz music. it's not one she's heard often, so she's counting the notes in her head, trying to make sense of it.
wanda presses her chin to his shoulder, deciding she is going to try and be conscious as to where she puts her feet.
forward-to-back, left-to-right, and repeat—
she huffs in amusement, something of a laugh, pulling back to look at him properly.]
No nightclub music in your head to change the pace of things?
[is this another 'rain' situation for him, unable to really keep his focus for too long? wanda is going to try her hardest to not remind him of that fumble because otherwise she has a feeling they'll get rained on inside her cabin in the woods.
instead, she tilts her head, bemused, even as he tries to get her to twirl while holding onto his hand. she manages fine, thanks!]
( bookworm, nerd, it's the same thing. he pulls her closer to him and smiles, unable to help himself. the horizon is one of the few places right now that he doesn't feel some level of pain.
and it's the only place he can see her currently. so, he's partial to it. he feels okay, he feels good.
he loves her. which pops into his head unbidden and he blinks a few times before laughing. )
[his words! not hers. she tried to give him the kinder name for it, because she knows that he has to be in order to have passed the bar exam. wanda knows that he's very intelligent, even if it gets muddled in his emotions a lot.
emotions that are currently playing so obviously on the surface of his skin. wanda smiles when he laughs, tilting her head to the side, their dance still slow, and getting even slower as his concentration skips out on the song.
wanda brings a hand to brush at his cheek, taking his glasses and removing them from his face. she leaves the glasses on her hand, letting her arms wrap loosely over his shoulders.]
( he doesn't even realize that the music's stopped because his focus has shifted. he doesn't say anything for a moment, just stands there and holds her, sways with her, still dancing despite the lack of music. )
I have to tell you something.
( and he doesn't think he can wait any longer. he has to say it now or talk himself out of it. )
[the last time she had heard someone say that, vision was on his knees, her magic seconds from destroying his source of life, the mind stone. they'd always talked about it in a roundabout way, about their feelings, and as much as it's scared her to think that these emotions she's developed have certainly become parallel to the ones she feels for vision—
wanda's come to realize that it's okay. that it's okay for her to feel like this, for her to find love anew. it's not like she's forgetting vision, her heart is healing, and above all else...
she doesn't want to hear matt say those words in the horizon.]
[wanda almost immediately regrets it, the way he deflates, he steps back a bit, looks at her confused—made even more prominent by how he can't really focus his eyes on her face.
it's what he says — how he doesn't want to wait that long, how he's still holding off from saying it because she asked him not to, how he's careful around what she wants, how she feels. that's love, isn't it? pure and unfiltered, and perhaps a little flawed in how weak it makes them in the end.
it's real enough, isn't it?
wanda presses forward to kiss him, quickly and chaste, pulling back, a hand over the curve of his neck, quietly saying, abruptly,]
[wanda feels her face flush, grow warm. did she really just do that? yes— words that she never got to say back to vision because, in that moment, there was no time at all for her to say them after she had heard them.
she's endeared by matt's reaction, this stupid competitive streak between them of wanting to be the first at things.]
[wanda will, gracefully, let him have that first. her heart is beating like crazy and she hopes he doesn't make a comment on it. it feels a little more special now, doesn't it, to be kissed by him after they've told each other how they feel.]
I... [she lets her hands rest over his shoulder, happy to remain with his arms wrapped around her] —wanted to tell you before all that happened. I hated that — I could have lost you without you knowing how I felt.
[but it didn't happen, and they're both here now — well, in separate factions, but they're okay now. wanda can't keep herself from laughing into his lips, but letting herself be swayed by his drawing her closer through the action alone.
it really seems like they've opened the dams now, almost seeming like every sentence they say is going to end with an 'i love you', huh?
the music has stopped as has their dancing, but then there's a loud bark and a scramble of claws on the hardwood floor. there comes mary, trotting up over them, tail wagging excitedly as she winds around their legs.]
Oh. [that's right] Sorry, I stole her a few days back.
[mary has been great company in the garden, even if she keeps digging up holes.]
[wanda proceeds to sit on the floor, knees first, so that she can also get into this cuddling situation with mary, who is far too excited to be held and petted by both humans. wanda leans into the fluffy dog, pressing her face against her fur, and looking up with a smile.]
I love you.
[it feels so silly to say it, but now that they're here, it also feels impossible to just not say it at random.
wanda starts laughing when mary turns her head to lick up and down wanda's face.]
[matt sitting down means that mary turns her attention more fervently towards him, which gives wanda a break from having dog drool licked all over her face. she leans heavily against mary, who is a big enough dog to handle her weight.]
Truth be told, I didn't come into the Horizon that much the past couple of weeks.
[there is that name again, of that woman that matt had tried to save—likely lost his life for in the process. he's been tight-lipped about the relationship prior to that moment, but—wanda?—she gets it. she doesn't need him to explain to her what all his relationships were about, especially if it's difficult for him.
at times, many a times, she's guilty of thinking of vision while with him.
( and he really does like the sound of that. he laces his fingers with hers and then pulls her closer to him, leaning in to kiss her nose and cheek and then down at her lips, slowly. )
[wanda can't help the smile that tugs the corners of her lips upwards as he kisses her, sets down a trail for his lips to follow, like he wants to venerate her.
tugged in to be embraced, she wraps her arms around his middle, even with mary between them.]
—I've never said it to anyone before.
[this much she wants to share with him, a quiet and soft confession.]
Never got the chance to.
[and so, here, with him, this is very special to her—it's so important to her.]
[it's comfortable enough when matt leans his weight against her, as he leans into her. they could have picked anywhere else to sit—on the couch, for instance—but the floor works just fine. she tilts her head up so that he presses cheek against her temple.]

No nightclub music in your head to change the pace of things?
[wanda isn't suggesting that he do this, but—]
no subject
( are you trying to distract him, wanda? trying to make it so he ends up playing fast paced music instead of what he's got going? )
Are you trying to make me do a little dance for you?
no subject
instead, she tilts her head, bemused, even as he tries to get her to twirl while holding onto his hand. she manages fine, thanks!]
I thought New Yorkers were fun party people?
[not sure where she got this from.]
Oh, I forget— you're something of a bookworm.

I — I lo —

she doesn't want to hear matt say those words in the horizon.]
I want to hear it in person.
[even if nocwich is weeks away.]
no subject
( he deflates a bit when she says that, not quite feeling like the wind had been knocked out of his sails but falling back a little.
he shakes his head. )
Nocwich...it's weeks away, Wanda. I don't want to wait that long. Why can't I just say it? The Horizon is...it's real enough, isn't it?
no subject
it's what he says — how he doesn't want to wait that long, how he's still holding off from saying it because she asked him not to, how he's careful around what she wants, how she feels. that's love, isn't it? pure and unfiltered, and perhaps a little flawed in how weak it makes them in the end.

I love you too, Matt.
no subject
( he doesn't sound like he minds all that much but he is surprised, holding onto her and sounding dumbfounded. )
I was going to say it first! You're a cheater!
( stopping him before he could say it. not fair. )
no subject
she's endeared by matt's reaction, this stupid competitive streak between them of wanting to be the first at things.]
Are you not going to say it at all, then, Matt?
no subject
( he makes a face at her and then laughs before he pulls her closer to him and kisses her once, twice.
that's when he finally murmurs: )
I love you and I said it first even if I didn't. You cheated.
no subject
[wanda will, gracefully, let him have that first. her heart is beating like crazy and she hopes he doesn't make a comment on it. it feels a little more special now, doesn't it, to be kissed by him after they've told each other how they feel.]

no subject
( he does know. he sighs and reaches up, hands brushing against her cheeks before he leans in and kisses her again. )
But that didn't happen. I'm here, I'm okay.
( he's getting better in the real world and he's fine right now too. )
And I love you.
no subject

[mary has been great company in the garden, even if she keeps digging up holes.]
no subject
( that was probably smart. even if she couldn't get hurt in the horizon or hungry or anything like that, he's glad that someone had been with her.
matt reaches down and let's mary push into his hand, nuzzling and rubbing her face against his palm. )
I think that's okay. She's kind of...ours, isn't she?
no subject
I love you.
[it feels so silly to say it, but now that they're here, it also feels impossible to just not say it at random.
wanda starts laughing when mary turns her head to lick up and down wanda's face.]
—Mary!
no subject
( matt grins and then moves to settle himself down with wanda and mary, scritching the dog's fur and trying to encourage her to lick wanda again.
she deserved it. )
Was she a good girl while I was gone?
no subject
Truth be told, I didn't come into the Horizon that much the past couple of weeks.
—have you ever said that to anyone before?
[she obviously has to circle back to his words.]
no subject
( he let's the dog basically barrel her way into his lap, nuzzling underneath his chin while he rubs at her back. )
A long time ago.
( he hadn't gotten there with karen or claire but he had with elektra.
once upon a time. )
no subject

wanda reaches for his hand.]
It's you and me now, okay?
no subject
( and he really does like the sound of that. he laces his fingers with hers and then pulls her closer to him, leaning in to kiss her nose and cheek and then down at her lips, slowly. )
I like the sound of that.
( with another tug, he reaches to embrace her. )

( he's never going to stop hearing those words over and over in his head, reveling in that they're directed at him and that she loves him.
he sighs and holds her close, eyes falling shut. )
When Nocwich opens up, we'll say it there too.
no subject
Don't make it embarrassing.
[like the way he had gone about her birthday.]
I just want to spend our time together there.
