He should perhaps be glad neither of his brothers are here. He can already hear the comments forming about where the pole would be most at home.
Alongside him is Eddie, someone Michael wouldn't typically think fit for any kind of confrontation, but angry goats should be within his ability to handle. One simply does not live in Solvunn without acquiring basic goat avoidance and survival skills.
"Behind you," he warns.
There's a goat ambling up behind him with playful yet aggressive intent. So far as the animals seem to be concerned, people and Maypoles are equally valid targets.

(Though Michael suspects that even the most useless of individuals are still warm bodies fit for sacrifice.)
He does prove to have a way with the sheep, thanks to his first gift from the Horizon. Getting them to cooperate is far easier when one can communicate in a language they understand. They prove far milder in personality to the goats, too, willing to stand where asked to so long as it's not too far from the rest of the flock. They're timid, if anything. It's somewhat harder to reassure them about the shears in his hand. It would help if Michael had any experience here.
One hand on the shears and the other on a sheep's head, gently scritching it between the ears, Michael turns to Claire. This seems like a task that might fall under her area of expertise, or at least some prior experience. Stitching a body back together, removing excess fleece—that all falls under the same skill set, right? He looks a little doubtful.
"Have you ever done this before?"

Rather than darkness and the intricate bars of the Cage, now the approach to Michael's domain reveals a space more reminiscent of the Garden: a dense forest, greenery and low ground cover peeking between the tree trunks, and the occasional path leading deeper.
No matter which angle he arrives from or which path he takes, Lucifer will find it curves away from the central field that houses the diner and the church. He might find it circles around once or twice, maybe to give Michael time to finish what he's working on, or maybe petty revenge for not bothering to ask if he'd had the time to spare this very moment. Who can say? The only thing that's certain is that Michael does nothing without purpose, so there's assuredly a reason for the detour.
In time, he'll arrive at a clearing set up for a specific purpose. In the middle stands a replica of Josselyn Creed's home, an understated stack of stone bricks that's in keeping with Solvunn's humble tastes. Michael stands on the porch. The only welcome Lucifer gets is his head turning, gaze focusing on him as he approaches.

I'd like to say this came out of Exhaustion Chaos but this has been my answer to this thread all day

Josie sends her best wishes. She also asked me to pass along that she knows of a handsome young man in the Secondary Settlement seeking a bride, if you're as unmarried today as you were the last time she saw you.
[He's not sure if Wanda has ever told Josie of her relationship. She's coy about it, for being as smitten as she is. He's absolutely certain it would make no difference to Josie, of course—and if he has to suffer the old woman's ill-fated but well-intentioned attempts at matchmaking, so does Wanda.]
