There's definitely a break in the tension. Which just leaves her with that bubbly feeling of him being a hot musician who isn't halfway to being Mick Jagger old. Which causes her little goofy smile to show up again. "There isn't much to be jealous of."

Which she sincerely believes, in what capacity she says it is still up in the air. She could be talking about her absolute disinterest in romance, that as much as she likes Jesper she's stopping at friendship that's naked and involves thrusting. She doesn't even want to be anyone's true love or whatever saccrine thing these two are.

She still definitely reacts when Mat looks at her, in a way that's a little too coy for even her to be truly comfortable with, but she's not exactly got that response reined in.

"So, where's the best place to get a drink here?" Abby's curious, she doesn't normally drink in Nocwich. As it's a lot easier to fall into bed if she drinks at Mag's. And then just has to fight up the stairs to her room.

"Course there isn't." Mat simply takes the statement at face value. "Whatever happens between him and anyone else or me and anyone else doesn't have any effect on us as a pair."

He is quite secure of his place in Jesper's heart. However many other lovers or partners the other man has, it takes nothing away from what they share. Besides, they're both young men and deserve to have their fun while they're young.

"And our options are limited, but luckily, the local watering hole makes good drinks. And they quite like me, I've played there quite a few times. Come on."

He just has to grab his bag and case, which are easily shouldered in a practiced motion. He can stash them at the public house till he needs them, he's done it before. This should be nice. He could use a drink, and Abby certainly seems friendly. Or at least impressed with his performing. Either way, enjoyable company.

"It'll be nice to get off my feet awhile. No one tells you have physically draining being a musician is."

Abby did not know if she felt good about him not seeing her disparaging statement as disparaging. It was weird, much the same way that Jesper thinking she was attractive was. Giddy but also a little naive.

"In my world musicians usually hire people to carry their gear. But they usually have a lot more of it and also a van with some ridiculous mural painted across the side. Somehow it's always wolves or naked ladies with no fucking middle ground." The words just spill out end over end, not really a planned annecdote but one that just happens. Not knowing how to answer 'music hard' as a concept.

There's still a lot of excited in her movements, nothing quite as dreamy as the cute waving and giddy smiling, but she seems very intent to never stand still while, steps and movements having a little extra pop to them.

Also there's glitter all around the hem of her shirt, spreading out in a spiral from her hand across the fabric. Because she is very good at controlling her emotions. "So- do you usually just invite your boyfriends sexfriends for drinks after a gig?"

"Well, I like murals and I've got some in my horizon, but the murals feature few wolves and no naked anyone."

That's reserved for the frescos that are only in one private room in Mat's little manor house. It's just not the sort of thing to have out in public, particularly where he invites folks to just wander over and spend time in his domain. Whether he's there or not.

"And as it happens, plenty of Jesper's sex friends are friends of mine. So I do spend time with them often. Hell, one of my best friends is one of his lovers. And thank the light, Kell is dear to me but that fellow needs a great deal more fun in his life." Jesper is very good for fun - as he assumes Abby is well aware.

He leads the way to the tavern, grinning as they go.

"Everyone needs more fun in their life, really. Otherwise what the hell's the point?"

What was the point if not to just- indulge? Abby certainly had her vices. They were fun, and mostly didn't hurt anyone. Except all those times her vice was 'say things to cause problems.' So her shy little smile did shift to something a little more 'cat that ate the canary.' "There's a lot to be sour about, but it's good to just set that aside, have whatever fun you can find. Shit does need to get done, but it isn't worth doing if you can't enjoy yourself before. Or after."

"I spent a little while when I arrived trapped in my own head about this shit." And home, and- everything. It didn't seem to be weighing her down as much anymore as she was somewhere between walking and skipping at Mat's side. "Over that. I do have some boring shit, but it's at least with fun as the end goal. Alcohol does not buy itself, and I can't enjoy anything if some fucked up shit kills me."

Hence job and magic studies. But that's all she has in the way of 'being responsible.' She hasn't accepted this is her life, but she sure isn't going to wait to go home anymore.

"There, you've got it. Life, overall, is rather miserable a good bit of the time. Have your fun where you can find it. Else you're just wasting it all."

Mat nods in solid agreement. He can understand getting in one's own head, he's been there plenty of times. But it tends to be a rather not-fun place to be, overall. Even if it's gotten better here.

So he looks outside for his fun.

"And here we are." He heads into the roofed but open-walled tavern, waving to the woman behind the bar and heading over to a small table by the edge. "Ale alright? They've got a damned fine honey ale here."

"Live is short, eat dessert first." Simple, pithy, utterly not healthy, entirely her jam now. Except some night she does just eat dinner and not have dessert. But that's really not the point of this little quote. "Granted, I was like that in my old life too. Just skip to the good bit. 'It's the problem with my generation.'"

There's a biting anger to her mocking voice of the adults of her world, because Abby is nothing if not a small wound up ball of emotions.

"Honey Ale is fine," Abby's preference is grain alcohol because she's impatient. But when it comes to drinks she's not that picky. She draws herself up into a seat with her legs tucked under her. Letting her eyes dart across all the going on. Open air gives her way too many places to draw her attention. "So why this place, its pretty exposed."

"S'what I meant about limited options. This is our option if we want to sit down and be served."

Mat orders their drinks - two of the usual, he's here enough - and gives a carefree shrug.

"The first time we ever visited, we got to go lots of places. But on the weekends we come, it's just a handful of spots right 'round here that we can do. Still, s'worth it. There's always new wares at the stalls, the woods are fun to hunt in, I like gambling, and the hot springs are always a treat. Plus I'm only here once a month, so I do well busking."

Folks here aren't hearing him every other night. It helps. And it's always a good place to try new songs.

But true to his nature, his eyebrows lift playfully.

"If you were hoping to get me somewhere private, we can certainly arrange that."

This kind of explained why Abby didn't really spend too much time here. Almost all of those items she lacked coin or desire to really enjoy. She wasn't over her insecurities to visit the hotsprings, even dressed. She lacked the coin for too many purchases, and definitely not for a gamble. She didn't hunt, and she wasn't a performing artist.

"So the town basically shutters on the weekend we're here? Lame." Still, there were drinks and it was the way to physically interact with the other nations. That was something, anyway.

"Also I assumed you were trying to get me somewhere private." She did have some curiosity what might happen in a less open space. Fueled just a little by how her fantasies went while he was playing. Her body betrayed her like that often.

Her mind also betrayed her, in the opposite direction. As she didn't really anticipate anything. That fear of her's still lingering in her mind. "Or did I misread things."

"Sort of. We're just a bit confined in where we can go. Not as I blame them, it's kind enough they let us come as they do."

Mat knows there's no obligation. The folks here needn't let them visit, let alone once a month. It's a kindness. And he has no trouble finding things to do. The change in scenery alone is worth it. Not to mention the break from the summer heat.

He laughs a bit.

"Well, I am not a complete cad and wanted to at least buy you a drink and chat first. Nor do I like to simply assume, that's a shitty thing to do. A lady's attention doesn't necessarily mean a lady's carnal interest." Or a fellow's, for that matter, but they aren't exactly speaking generally at the moment. Abby's attractive and seems to have an agreeable nature, and he assumes since she's having fun with Jesper that she does not hold sex and romance sacred. But that's not a guarantee she wants to fool around with him.

"Some folks lose the stars in their eyes when the music stops."

"So they want to see us, but don't want us to make ourselves at home. Complete opposite of the Feywilds then." This world had a lot of politics and Abby really didn't want to deal with any of them. But here she was, dealing in politics.

She sips her drink, puzzling over the taste as she generally didn't go for sweet drinks. Mostly because alcohol was 'what they raided from parents' and here was 'whatever was cheap.' But not bad.

"Well, you're a hot musician, so it'd be criminal if I wasn't interested," Abby's reluctant to frame why she's got a personal weakness to musicians. But it is a part of the factors at play. And candor seems overall the right path. "And Jesper likes you, which is a pretty good suggestion of what kind of guy you are. As for my carnal desires, I don't fucking know. I've had sex with one person and it was pretty great."

The ever-so-slight smile, one that's very much knowing, suggests Mat should be aware of exactly how good his own boyfriend is at sex.

"Getting to know someone else my age by talking? Great. Making out? Sure. Fucking? Dunno, I'll have a better idea after one, or both, of the previous items. In either order." Abby shifts a little in her seat, this was all very forward of her, and as much as 'hot musician' did bring out a certain side of her, her own doubts about herself were nagging at the back of her head. "I'm not sure what all my limits are, and I won't really until I try something reckless and a little stupid. And see how I feel after."

"I think they're just a private people." Mat can understand that, coming from a small and insular community.

"Oh, you needn't tell me, I'm well acquainted with how popular attractive young musicians are. I do other things, but it's always the music. And sometimes it's just the music." Without any real interest in the man making it. Which is fine, only he prefers his trysts to at least like him.

"But you're right, if you know Jesper then you've already a rough idea of me! We're very similar fellows. He's a bit more polished than I, but we're just different cuts of the same cloth. With the same healthy libido! But it's not as though the only reason I'm talking to you is in hopes of getting you into bed. Any friend of Jes's is a friend of mine. If you're interested in a bit of fun, fun is to be had. If not..." He shrugs good naturedly.

"I'm having a very nice time having a drink and a chat."

"Even if they weren't, opening up spaces to us feels like asking for trouble. Not- specifically us, just summoned." It felt like they were more weapon than people, here. Not that she was a useful weapon herself, but from the stories Julie and Geralt shared. You gather weapons in your home, the neighbors will start to talk.

Abby takes another drink, pauses, and leans forward on her elbows, watching Mat a moment at his comments. That 'cut from the same cloth' thing is bugging her. He doesn't feel the same as Jesper. She assumes they get along, and she'll take his word on the libido thing. But the way Jesper makes the world spin around him does not feel like anything Mat would go for. Still- not really a thing she can put into words, "I'm not going to say I'm unwilling, cause I am. I'm all for fucking enjoying myself."

"Just-" She takes another sip from her drink, leaning back and rolling the words around in her mind. She wants to appear cool so the goal is to not sound like a scared little girl. As anyone into that is not a person she wants to fuck. "I might only be into handies and kissing. Tonight. And definitely only after we finish our drinks."

Nailed. It.

Mat just listens, unbothered by Abby taking her time to find what she wants to say. It all sounds very reasonable to him. 'Fun' meant all sorts of things, sex included. But not sex exclusively.

And as she's given the very clear indication that she is interested, he sees no reason to hold back politely any longer. Particularly when she's set him up so very perfectly.

He leans forward, all eager grin and intently bright eyes.

"Say the word, lovely, and these hands will play your body like a symphony."

See, every so often Abby could convince herself she was cool, confident, and capable of being a real fucking person. And then a guy says something like that to her and she squirms uneasily in her seat. Using her hand to hide the somewhat unhinged smile that forms in response. Did he have to fucking use musical jargon is his metaphor. That seemed fucking excessive, and rude since she spelled out her weakness to it.

"I assume you have a place in mind?" She didn't really plan for any of this. Planning was for nerds, after all. And she was really only suppose to be here to make friends not make friends so such activity was not on the itinerary.

"I might know a few places."

The twinkle in Mat's eyes and the curve of his grin say that he most certainly knows places. Not that would likely be agreeable for actual sex, but a bit of fooling around? That's not a problem.

And fooling around can be just as much fun as proper sex. It's not about getting off, after all. The lead up is far more interesting and varied. As long as everyone involved enjoys themselves, who cares how far it gets?

"Sometimes the darkness of Nocwich is quite advantageous."

Given that, his boyfriend lives in not Thorne, it doesn't actually surprise Abby he's so ready with a place in mind. And the level of certainty he's showing does put her at ease.

Which is undermined by that uncool giddy feeling this all has. This is a lot closer to what her days should be compared to her and Jesper. Something ill conceived but feels very correct to do in the moment.

Abby finishes her drink, "It is a lovely night for frolicing, isn't it. I suppose you'll lead the way to whatever spot you have in mind."

"It's always a lovely night in Nocwich!"

Perhaps a very easy jest to make, but Mat can't help it. And it's true, this place is lovely and there's something enchanting about the eternal night. Which does make it lovely for a bit of mild trysting. The sort that can be done clothed and without getting chased off by any offended passersby.

"Just follow me."

He offers her his arm as they stand, flashing another grin.

"It has to rain sometimes." Which as she says it, she realizes just gives different opportunities. So many people wear white shirts and that absolutely would be delightful in that weather. She lets the thought linger in her mind a little smile on her face.

She could daintily take his arm and be all lady-like. Or, consider, she could just cling to his arm somewhat too energetically to be anything but excitable. Which is what she goes for because lady-like is for people who don't say fuck as much as she does.

"What about your other date?" Abby nods toward the instrument case. Not that it'll do much help in their plans, she just doesn't know if this is a safe place to stow it while they... enjoy the lovely night.

"Even the rain has its charms!" What's more thrilling than huddling together in scant shelter, soaked through to the skin... Rain has its charms indeed.

"And fear not, I am on no strict schedule. I play when I play. I'm free to devote my time and attention to you, lovely. Perfectly safe to leave it here, the barkeep'll watch it. She does it every month for me."

Mat leads her around behind the tavern and stalls, down a little dead end alley bathed in shadow and well out of the way. He likes it as there's no doors or other little alleys into it, and it's easy to hear anyone coming if they wander this way.

Well, with his instrument safely stowed and them on their way Abby simply needs to enjoy the building tension in her head. The 'am I really doing this' of it all. With Press she had days to prepare, and very little concern about how it'd go. She'd known that asshole for so long. With Jesper she had a lingering fear it was a long con, and when that was broken it was just the awkwardness of a first time. This- she knew him only through who he knew.

It was terrifying.

She was very turned on.

...She needed therapy.

Abby swings from hanging on his arm to leaning against the wall. Posing, really, this is all meant for her to be seen. Fashion in the Cities lead Abby to dressing much more like a mobster than she ever expected in her life. She dressed casually for the trip, pinstripe slacks and an untucked red sleeveless blouse. There are lines for an undershirt to help keep anything from poking through.

"Here I am, where would you like to start?" How much of this is her playing coy, or she is entirely unsure of where she should start. He offered to play her like a symphony after all. Still, she can maybe start them off. Her casual two buttons undone, becomes a scandalizing five buttons, opening most of her shirt to show her white undershirt, tight against her skin.

"Well I admit, I'm something of a traditional lad..."

Mat just watches a moment, quite enjoying the view. Who is he to spoil it? But he isn't here just to look. Leaning forward, he puts one hand on the wall, angling himself towards her. Light, she is pretty.

And feisty. He's always liked feisty.

"I find a bit of kissing is usually a very good starting point."

One hand still on the wall beside her, his other comes up to cup the side of her face. There's callouses on his fingers from instrument strings but his skin is soft, well cared for. Despite looking as though he has only a passing acquaintance with the concept of a comb, he's a vain man. He has as many oils and softening waxes for his hair and skin as he does his theorbo.

"If the lady's not opposed?"

Abby wanted to say something smart, something that fed the illusion of control, that she had any idea what she was doing or how to do it in a cool manner.

"I'd like that."

There was too much chewing on her lip. Too much of her skin on fire for more contact, different contact. Although she pressed her face into his hand easily, not concerned much over how soft or calloused it was, more that it was there, and that's what mattered. All that came together so she couldn't really manage 'cool.' She was, at best, cute and needy.

She shifted her weight enough to move from the heel to the toes so she could decrease the height difference as much as she could on her end. Her hand on the collar of his shirt, not tugging him close. But definitely suggesting he doesn't get to leave right now.

That's all Mat needs.

At Abby's urging, he dips his head down to catch her mouth with his own. He's teasing at first, brief brushes of lips on lips and then pulling away with a little grin. It's a lovely whatever-time-of-day it is here, he's in no rush.

Her mouth tastes like the drink they'd had and the heat off of her body is intoxicating. As is the hand in his shirt, gripping him like that. He always like a lass with a commanding hand and a good tight grip.

His own hand begins to wander, trailing down her neck, fingers brushing against her skin. He's always been a tactile person, and his body angles into hers. There's that particular little excitement that always come from the first encounter with someone new. It's all a discovery, an adventure into the unknown. Where does she most like being touched? What sort of little noises does she make when pleased? Does she use nails and teeth, or does she have a softer touch?

Mat thinks not. He thinks she's likely a teeth and nails sort of girl.

Teasing kisses are a bit of a surprise. That's not what Norah or Max was about, and Jesper. So she did try to hold the kiss with him immediately pulling back. She's not going to claim she wasn't afraid this was some trick, the thought was there. Thankfully a second kiss filled that space.

Having both enjoyed the same drink limits the level of where one of them ends and the other begins. Which isn't something she'd considered but very much makes this more enjoyable.

Abby's noises are subtle, shifts in her breathing, little gasps as his hand moves over skin she's not used to being explored. Hands on the back of her shoulder cause the most reaction, but that's just of what he's explored. To make this easier Abby's hand not keeping Mat from leaving undo a few more buttons, but not all. Then helpfully slips her shirt off one shoulder.

She lets go, long enough for her shirt to hang around her waist not doing much covering, only for her hand to return higher, not on his collar anymore. Holding his neck and jaw, thumb brushing just under his ear. Still a move of keeping him close, but guised in some other language.
