PRIMARY SETTLEMENT; NANAUE'S HOUSE ☠
[ Maybe you have heard of the red barn-shed on the outskirts of the settlement where a seven foot manshark allegedly makes his home. Maybe that manshark himself has proudly told you (with his limited vocabulary) that he is in fact a home owner and this is where he sleeps. Or maybe you just stumble upon the area all on your own, it doesn't really matter!
The small barn (or large shed) sits quietly in a meadow, not far from a small pond. With the changing season there's less dragonflies flitting around the pool's murky, slimy surface, but you can still hear a small chorus of frogs making their presence known. The barn itself is brightly painted, with three of it's sides covered in child-like doodles and drawings of happy people, flowers, fish, and other things. One side has a full English alphabet drawn on it (or whatever it translates to in your own language). ]
BAD DOG!
[ That deep shout is all the warning you get before something that is very much NOT a dog comes bursting out of the barn with some rags in its mouth. It spins around and shakes them violently before eyeing you and lowering its held with a low growl...
...
Or in the afternoon, perhaps after lunch, you might find a more peaceful interaction between these two creatures. Nanaue tosses a very large bone across the meadow, and his varren happily rushes after it in a game of fetch. ]
Good dog. [ He will say as it approaches. The varren does not seem yet to grasp the return part of fetch, though, and you might watch the pair wrestle over the bone for a few minutes... ]
PRIMARY SETTLEMENT; SKOOL ☠
[ Seated in the center of a group of children is Nanaue. This is not exactly a strange sight if you've been in the Primary Settlement for the past six months. The children has taken a liking to the monstrous man, who sits almost docile in their midst. Sometimes their games are more rough, with the children trying to tackle and defeat him. Today, it seems like they are decorating him, or maybe practicing for a worship related art project. Some of the children have strung together bones on thread and are wrapping him like a morbid Christmas tree. Others are painting directly onto his hide common symbols and runes and even just regular letters.
Nanaue himself is breaking off bones from the strings and idly chomping down on them. ]
NOCWICH; ☠
[ Nanaue doesn't often visit Oleuni Square. When he does, he can be found lounging in the hot springs - or perusing the market stalls.
There's a particular stall he's patronizing today that sells bone carvings, sculptures and jewelry. Nanaue picks up little statuettes to examine at eye level, under the wary watch of the artist and seller. When he moves on to the jewelry he holds up a necklace and gently places it atop his flat head... for it is far too small to fit over it to sit on his collarbone. ]
How look? [ he turns to ask guilelessly at whoever is nearby. The artist catches your eye nervously, shaking his head as if to tell you not to encourage this... ]
HORIZON; ☠
[ Nanaue's domain, much like the man-creature himself, hasn't changed very much since he first created it. The waves are gentle and his cave still smells very questionable.
On the rare occasions throughout the month that he can be found here, Nanaue is almost always out swimming. He stays beneath the surface, unseen except for the massive fin that sometimes breaks through the waves.
Alternatively, maybe he wanders into YOUR domain. He does like exploring new places. He might be standing at whatever passes for an entrance, staring with his flat, black eyes. ]
WILDCARD; ☠
( Something not on here? I'm down for anything! Feel free to mix and match or make up a new scenario! )
— nocwich, market stalls
Actually, she did have a bit of a shopping list in mind, but she's not concerned about the pace at which they're going. She'll get to Glen's stall eventually and she knows that the werewolf isn't about to sell off the gems he had vehemently promised her the last time she had been here. ]
I think it adds a little more sparkle to you! But I'm a little worried that it might slip off and get lost. [ She taps her chin thoughtfully before turning towards the merchant. ] Do you have anything a little bit large for my friend?
no subject
The artisan sighs in relief as Nanaue begins to turn around to leave in a huff. ]
No good! No fit! [ He complains. This, he is coming to find, is a frequent problem (at least when people don't lie to his face to soothe him). There are few shops that sell clothing for seven foot tall mansharks. ]
no subject
Of course there's plenty of reason to be intimidated by the Nanaue, the most obvious bring that he's a shark man. A huge one who could probably rip the poor artisan in two if he really felt like it.
That still doesn't mean that she thinks it's particularly professional to sigh when they're still in earshot though. She'll shoot him a glare before hurrying after her friend. ]
It's okay, we'll find something for you. Are you looking for a shiny necklace? I didn't know you liked those kinds of things.
no subject
Me like... things...
[ What things, though? He's not sure. He only wants to try them! But it's hard when nothing fits you right.
He wanders next to a stall that has many little dark bottles with pretty handwritten labels and dried flowers decorating the posts. A purveyor of fine perfumes by the sign. The stallkeeper eyes Nanaue warily as he approaches, and looks like he means to protest when the manshark picks up one of the delicate looking bottles, lifting it to eye level. ]

Hilda recognizes the perfume stand as they approach; it's one she frequents on a semi-regular basis. She had been on a desperate search to recreate her favourite perfume from home and still had yet to replicate the scent. Even though her quest continues, she had picked out a few in the time she had been here; a girl still has to smell nice.
Considering how slight she is, she's hidden just out of view but pokes her head out just in time to see the merchant open their mouth. Her pink hair is impossible to miss - but then again, so is the warning glare that she gives him. It's only until their mouth closes that her expression immediately does a 180 as she looks cheerfully up at Nanaue. ]
What does that one smell like?
[ With how big his hand is she can't quite tell since it's covering the label. ]

SECONDARY SETTLEMENT; MID-MONTH; OPEN
[ The ocean waters to the south are warm and clear. He does not dive too deep, he is not a creature that is at home in the dark, dark depths beyond the twilight and far from the shore. Not unless he is hunting something.
Or, he is being hunted.
Nanaue only sees the grey flank of something shooting up past him. He does not see the jaws below as they shoot out from the body and swallow him whole.
Attempts to swallow him whole. Nanaue is a brick of muscle and fat. Lodged in the leviathan's throat, he fights his way back out with his own teeth and claws. He eats his way out.
When its over, Nanaue drags to shore a forty foot long corpse. He passes out on the shore for an hour or so, eats a bit more when he first awakes again, then begins his trek back to civilization with his prize.
He passes by the Secondary Settlement, to the shock and delight of the children playing their games. He settles down again to eat as they poke and prod the dead beast. ]

it's unsurprising to find nanaue there.
it's a lot more surprising to see what he's carrying along with him.]
Where did you get that?

As usual, he offers some to Wanda, pointing. ]
You want?

All yours.
[but it doesn’t make it any less impressive that he managed to catch this and kill it.]
I haven't seen a fish like this. Have you seen more of these in the ocean, Nanaue?

Nero's on his usual errand of going to the settlements to trade for cheese (his favorite) or some of those tastier juices, but sometimes, you know. He just goes to hang around people. See the kids. He still likes sitting around to tell them stories from home. They still like him, even if they don't get while he had to move away.
Just needed some room to spread my wings is always his answer.
By the time he's going back to meet up with the carriage, there's a giant dead fish cutting off his path. Nero gives a low, impressed whistle.]
Nice, Nanaue! Is this dinner?
[With the shark guy nearby, he can guess who took it down. Especially considering all the gore around the mouth.] You're gonna be eatin' that for at least a week.
no subject
Some of the braver children are beginning to attempt to climb atop the corpse, and it becomes a race to see who can reach its dorsal fin first. ]
Hungry? [ he asks Nero. The children only laughed and shrieked when he offered to share with them. ]
no subject
Luckily Nero's hardly weirded out by the kids. He did way worse when he was younger in the Order, and once one of them falls through rotting flesh into a cavern of stomach lining and blood, likely all the kids are gonna learn a rough lesson about climbing dead whale... fish... things.
Nero screws up his face, but he does hesitate.] I mean... guess it's not much different than sushi, huh?
[He pulls off a piece, sniffing it. Hesitating. He's pretty sure sushi doesn't smell like this, though. It's not like it's gonna poison him. He's never gotten food poisoning in his life.
He takes a bite. His teeth, weirdly, go through it as easily as butter. But it's cold. And tastes like salt water. Ugh.] It's not... bad.

dog playtime at the house
The dog (?) he's less sure about, but he's happy to sit down and watch them play and enjoy the day before eventually speaking up.]
Have you ever tried taking it to monster puppy training or something? Do they even have that here? They probably have that here somewhere.
[He has no idea if they have that here somewhere.]

[ Distracted by Nate's question, the varren gets the upper hand on the bone - or at least thinks it does. Growling, it gives a hard pull, but with Nanaue's grip iron solid, all that happens is the bone finally snaps in half, causing the varren to careen backward. ]
You want train, dog?
[ The 'dog' doesn't answer except to circle a few times in place before laying down with its half of bone, gnawing on it. Every so often it looks over at Nate and growls possessively.
Nanaue chuckles low to himself. ]
Dog dumb.
no subject
[It's at least the second dumbest creature in the immediate area, and comes in dead last in terms of company. Too bad.]
Why do dogs [and 'dogs'] even like bones, anyway? They can't taste that great. All the marrow's on the inside.
no subject
[ Also, it's fun to chomp. To crack it open to get to the marrow. Nathan wouldn't understand, his teeth probably aren't very strong like his and dog's. Wanda has very good teeth, though.
The varren, having destroyed the bone, warily approaches Nate, perhaps out of curiosity. It displays cautious behavior as it gets closer, extending its front half to get as close as possible to sniff him without moving its back legs, stretching out. ]

Nocwich; finally they must meet
Nice. You might just bring circlets back in style.
[Is he joking? Even he doesn't know; he unironically likes the idea of a sharkman wearing a necklace as circlet, but it sadly probably won't catch on. However, another slightly chaotic solution comes to him as well.]
'Course you could also just string a bunch of these together and make a necklace that fits.
it is time
[ Nanaue has no idea what that is! But it sounds nice.
And then the stranger-friend gives him a wonderful suggestion. Delighted, Nanaue turns to the horrified merchant while grabbing a handful of delicate looking necklaces. ]
Make fit? [ He asks, looming without meaning to look menacing but.. well...
"They're not meant to be strung together like that -" the merchant glances at Gabriel with wide eyes and a look of betrayal on their face. ]
no subject
I can make 'em work without doing any damage.
[Give him just a moment, and don't mind the tiny amount of reality warping needed to make the clasps link properly together without any harm to the necklaces themselves. The end result is an actually pretty cool and ridiculously long necklace, which Gabriel holds up to Nanaue.]
Need a hand putting it on?
no subject
[ Nanaue has seen lots of magic since coming to live in Abraxas, especially from Wanda, but he always displays a child-like delight each time someone new does a trick in front of him.
With a nod, he gets down on one knee so the necklace can be placed over his large, flat head.
The merchant, looking at first dumbfounded looks to Gabriel - "Ah, sir - will you be paying for all of those...?" ]
