PRIMARY SETTLEMENT; NANAUE'S HOUSE ☠
[ Maybe you have heard of the red barn-shed on the outskirts of the settlement where a seven foot manshark allegedly makes his home. Maybe that manshark himself has proudly told you (with his limited vocabulary) that he is in fact a home owner and this is where he sleeps. Or maybe you just stumble upon the area all on your own, it doesn't really matter!
The small barn (or large shed) sits quietly in a meadow, not far from a small pond. With the changing season there's less dragonflies flitting around the pool's murky, slimy surface, but you can still hear a small chorus of frogs making their presence known. The barn itself is brightly painted, with three of it's sides covered in child-like doodles and drawings of happy people, flowers, fish, and other things. One side has a full English alphabet drawn on it (or whatever it translates to in your own language). ]
BAD DOG!
[ That deep shout is all the warning you get before something that is very much NOT a dog comes bursting out of the barn with some rags in its mouth. It spins around and shakes them violently before eyeing you and lowering its held with a low growl...
...
Or in the afternoon, perhaps after lunch, you might find a more peaceful interaction between these two creatures. Nanaue tosses a very large bone across the meadow, and his varren happily rushes after it in a game of fetch. ]
Good dog. [ He will say as it approaches. The varren does not seem yet to grasp the return part of fetch, though, and you might watch the pair wrestle over the bone for a few minutes... ]
PRIMARY SETTLEMENT; SKOOL ☠
[ Seated in the center of a group of children is Nanaue. This is not exactly a strange sight if you've been in the Primary Settlement for the past six months. The children has taken a liking to the monstrous man, who sits almost docile in their midst. Sometimes their games are more rough, with the children trying to tackle and defeat him. Today, it seems like they are decorating him, or maybe practicing for a worship related art project. Some of the children have strung together bones on thread and are wrapping him like a morbid Christmas tree. Others are painting directly onto his hide common symbols and runes and even just regular letters.
Nanaue himself is breaking off bones from the strings and idly chomping down on them. ]
NOCWICH; ☠
[ Nanaue doesn't often visit Oleuni Square. When he does, he can be found lounging in the hot springs - or perusing the market stalls.
There's a particular stall he's patronizing today that sells bone carvings, sculptures and jewelry. Nanaue picks up little statuettes to examine at eye level, under the wary watch of the artist and seller. When he moves on to the jewelry he holds up a necklace and gently places it atop his flat head... for it is far too small to fit over it to sit on his collarbone. ]
How look? [ he turns to ask guilelessly at whoever is nearby. The artist catches your eye nervously, shaking his head as if to tell you not to encourage this... ]
HORIZON; ☠
[ Nanaue's domain, much like the man-creature himself, hasn't changed very much since he first created it. The waves are gentle and his cave still smells very questionable.
On the rare occasions throughout the month that he can be found here, Nanaue is almost always out swimming. He stays beneath the surface, unseen except for the massive fin that sometimes breaks through the waves.
Alternatively, maybe he wanders into YOUR domain. He does like exploring new places. He might be standing at whatever passes for an entrance, staring with his flat, black eyes. ]
WILDCARD; ☠
( Something not on here? I'm down for anything! Feel free to mix and match or make up a new scenario! )

The artisan sighs in relief as Nanaue begins to turn around to leave in a huff. ]
No good! No fit! [ He complains. This, he is coming to find, is a frequent problem (at least when people don't lie to his face to soothe him). There are few shops that sell clothing for seven foot tall mansharks. ]
no subject
Of course there's plenty of reason to be intimidated by the Nanaue, the most obvious bring that he's a shark man. A huge one who could probably rip the poor artisan in two if he really felt like it.
That still doesn't mean that she thinks it's particularly professional to sigh when they're still in earshot though. She'll shoot him a glare before hurrying after her friend. ]
It's okay, we'll find something for you. Are you looking for a shiny necklace? I didn't know you liked those kinds of things.
no subject
Me like... things...
[ What things, though? He's not sure. He only wants to try them! But it's hard when nothing fits you right.
He wanders next to a stall that has many little dark bottles with pretty handwritten labels and dried flowers decorating the posts. A purveyor of fine perfumes by the sign. The stallkeeper eyes Nanaue warily as he approaches, and looks like he means to protest when the manshark picks up one of the delicate looking bottles, lifting it to eye level. ]

Hilda recognizes the perfume stand as they approach; it's one she frequents on a semi-regular basis. She had been on a desperate search to recreate her favourite perfume from home and still had yet to replicate the scent. Even though her quest continues, she had picked out a few in the time she had been here; a girl still has to smell nice.
Considering how slight she is, she's hidden just out of view but pokes her head out just in time to see the merchant open their mouth. Her pink hair is impossible to miss - but then again, so is the warning glare that she gives him. It's only until their mouth closes that her expression immediately does a 180 as she looks cheerfully up at Nanaue. ]
What does that one smell like?
[ With how big his hand is she can't quite tell since it's covering the label. ]

He stops, holding the bottle while his eye rolls down to look at her - then lowers his head. He brings the delicate glass right up to one of his nostrils and gives a gentle sniff, his gills fluttering slightly as he takes in the breath. His wide, flat eyes blink rapidly and he lowers the bottle to the table again, still holding the stopper in his other hand. ]
Spice tree...
[ Sharks have an incredible sense of smell. Unfortunately, Nanaue has only so many words to use to describe all the notes he's receiving. The descriptor mentions sandalwood, and the names of two conifer-like trees native to the area. ]

[ From the corner of her eye Hilda can see the merchant turn to look at Nanaue — almost incredulously — like they can’t believe that this giant shark man had just dared called his artisan perfume ”spice tree”. The absolute nerve. Good thing Nanaue is three times their size and has a tiny pink sidekick ready to glare them into silence.
Hilda, on the other hand looks far more bemused. Having never interacted with a shark before this (Goneril is famously landlocked with giant, glacier fed lakes that definitely aren’t home to any shark), there’s no way for her to know that sharks have great sniffers. But that doesn’t mean she doubts him either. ]
Do you like it? What do you think? Too much spice? Too much tree?
no subject
... both?
[ Too much both. He's not sure he likes either. His nostrils and gills itch a little bit.
He turns to the display of bottles again, scanning them hopelessly - then back to Hilda. ]
Flower smell?
[ He likes flowers. ]
no subject
[ The art of picking perfumes isn't something that everyone does or cares for. Everyone has to start somewhere and she's more than happy to help Nanaue facilitate that.
At the mention of florals, she taps her chin thoughtfully surveying the wide array set before them. Flowers also tended to have a bit of a wide range; you had people who only preferred the smell of one flower (Lorenz and his preference for roses always immediately comes to mind) and then others that preferred them mixed with other scents like fruit to offset the floral scent.
Eventually she picks a couple of bottles to give them a quick sniff herself before lining them up in front of him explaining each one as she points to them. ]
Try these out. The first one is lavender - you know those little purple flower stalks? But it also has some other things like bergamot and neroli mixed in. This next one is mostly just flowers I think - jasmine, lilies and tuberose absolute. And this last one is jasmine, vanilla and a little bit of that spicy tree mixed in, but it's not as overpowering as the other one.
[ A little jar of coffee beans sits with a stopper on the table as well. ]
Oh! And between bottles, take a little sniff of these so you can have a clean palette to sniff with.

He seems to enjoy the entire procedure of testing the chosen bottles. He picks up each one with extreme care to give a loooong sniff - he does the same for the bottle of brown beans. It's difficult to tell his feelings on each one, only his curiosity is clear as he tries to identify the individual scents. Most are foreign to him, though.
After trying to them all, he picks up the last one again. Takes an even loooooonger sniff. ]
Spicy flower cake! [ he says with a nod, handing it with care to Hilda.
This is the one he likes. ]

Let's dab a little on your wrists. That way it can settle on your skin while we walk around the rest of the market. If you like how it smells on you we can come back!
[ The last bit said with a pointed look at the merchant, silently asking him to confirm that that's indeed fine. There's a nod, a hastily added, "Of course. How will you know if you like it otherwise?". With it applied she slips her hand into Nanaue's. ]
Why don't we see about getting you a necklace? I know a place we can go and make them together so that way we know it'll fit you.
no subject
Oh-kay. We find. [ Together! He likes that. It's always better to be with friends than to be alone. Still oblivious to the upset he's caused the merchant, he waves with his free hand as they start to walk away. ]
See later!
[ He will be back! The merchant very nervously gives a small wave back to him, then immediately starts setting everything right again at his stall when their backs are turned. ]
Make necklace... ? [ he finally asks, even more curious now. ]
no subject
As they depart she also gives the merchant a cheery wave over her shoulder - before pointing her fingers towards her eyes and then back at them. ]
Yeah, we'll have a little arts and crafts session! We can go shopping for some beads and crystals or whatever materials you want to use and cord so that we can adjust it around your neck.
[ Cord seemed like the easiest thing to work with and would hopefully be sturdier than metal. Although...she glances up towards Nanaue's neck. Maybe metal would be sturdier for someone like him. ]
You aren't allergic to metal are you?
no subject
[ This seems to get him excited. He wants to look fancy. In fact, as they're walking, Hilda will hear a pop! and if she looks up at the top of his flat head she will see a distinguished, velvet top hat now sitting there. ]
Ehhh... no think so...
[ Allergies, that is. Which isn't to say he's never had a reaction to things he's touched... or eaten... only that he barely noticed if he did at all. ]
no subject
...Which is quickly turned into mild confusion at the sudden appearance of a hat atop his head. She's fairly certain that that hadn't been there before. But Nanaue seems pleased and doesn't seem fazed, so maybe she'll ask about it later. Besides, she does think he looks very distinguished with it on. ]
We can make you a couple of necklaces with different materials so you can have options.
[ With a squeeze of his hand she guides him towards the section of stalls that have several stalls filled with crystals and beads. With a little tray, she picks out a couple for herself, encouraging Nanaue to do the same. ]
Don't be shy. We can put as many beads and crystals on it as you want.
no subject
He gives a furtive glance at Hilda. ]
No money... [ He never needs money in Solvunn. People just give him things in exchange for extra nom noms he finds. Here, though -
In his best attempt to whisper, he leans over to Hilda's ear and holds his hand up to block the sound: ]
Steal?
no subject
Now they'd just have to pick out some chains or cord and then they'd be all set to -
Suddenly Nanaue's large hand is in front of the, shielding them from view of the merchant who definitely heard his not-so-quiet whisper. Hilda feels her eyes immediately snap towards them and she lets out a nervous giggle. ]
These are a steal, Nanaue you're right!
[ Quickly she shoves both the trays towards the merchant who eyes them both a little suspiciously. As much as she'd put her money on Nanaue over the merchant, she'd still rather avoid a fight if she can avoid one. With the merchant's back towards them she gives his arm a pat. ]
Don't worry about the money, I'll take care of it. It's my gift to you.
no subject
Gift...? [ He does like gifts, so that seems okay.
He would like to give a gift in return - something he doesn't need money for, though. He'll have to think about it when he goes home. ]
Thank you. [ He will now wait patiently for the money to be exchanged, while wondering aloud. ]
What make?
[ What will they now make with all of this? ]
no subject
[ Relieved that the threat of being accused of thievery seems to have passed at least for a moment, her smile seems to brighten a little bit. They're still within earshot of the merchant so explain why suggesting that you steal something aloud in the middle of the market probably isn't the best idea. ]
We're going to make some necklaces. You said that you couldn't find anything that fit you, so we'll just make some that does!
[ Coin is exchanged for product and along with the beads are several metres of metal, cord, and chains. ]
Does that sound okay with you?
