"That is...something I hadn't thought about."

And now he has and he frowns. He wonders if the queen already knows who he is and is just waiting for him to admit it. Or maybe she doesn't give a damn about him. There's plenty of other people in Thorne who are probably more important than he is.

Still, Kaz's statement is going to bother him.

"Is that what you think?"

"I've spent a lot of time overthinking the whole situation, and none of it has come with any answers," he admits, his tones stark and bitter. With many he makes some effort with facades and masks, years of practice making it easy to live with them in this place.

He just doesn't feel they're always needed.

"Less what I think and more what I've wondered. The truth? I don't think they have nearly as much control as they think they do. Much less than they want us to think. Both about who comes through the portals they have, and just what we're capable of as well."

"And yet they have enough control over us that we are stuck here."

Which annoys him. Not so much being stuck in Abraxas but he dislikes being stuck in Thorne, for the most part. He would rather have some freedom to travel.

"But, perhaps they know something about the power we have that we don't know yet."
