Don't wait up, leave the light on

Who: Lord John & Ciri
When: Early October
Where: Witcher House, Free Cities
What: Bonding time!
Warnings: None atm, will edit if needed!

John finds himself settling in to his new setting inch by inch. It does help that the place reminds him so much of Geralt’s cabin in the woods he had built for himself, in the time that never was. Perhaps because, as he comes to understand, Geralt has built much of the furniture for this place as well. But there are touches from its other inhabitants as well.

Jaskier, for one, is practically dripping from every corner of the house. There are the plants that Geralt had warned him about, yes. And the pets. The decorating. Much like his personality, his sense of style has permeated the place. But he can see Ciri’s mark there too, now that he knows where to look.

He is grateful that he has been allowed to stay here with them. To be able to sleep in Geralt’s room with him, and be so easily accepted into their household by all of them. It eases the uncertainty he had felt initially, the thought that he might be intruding on this special family they had made for themselves. Instead, now John has to wonder if maybe, just maybe, there isn’t a place for him here after all…

Geralt had left early that morning on one of his hunts and John is doing his best to figure out what to do with himself on his first day without him there as a buffer. It’s silly, really. He is a grown man, he is a lieutenant colonel in the army. He has made it as far as the kitchen, and one could argue he is strategizing his next move. It might be generous, however.

"What does that entail? Being a member of a coffeehouse." Ciri raises a curious eyebrow in his direction as she starts pulling the coffee beans out, the grinder. She also has some sort of odd contraption on the counter -- a glass pitcher with some mechanism inside and a crank. (It is a blender, courtesy of Viktor many moons ago.)
