EVENT #9: NOCWICH (DELEGATE MEETING) - IC POST

Event #9 - Nocwich (Delegates)

If you were chosen as a delegate, someone from Nocwich will retrieve you shortly after the main demonstration - either the Blooming or the transformations - are finished. This will occur before the courier arrives with news of the threat, meaning you won't receive the same package or letter as the others.

To get to the meeting spot, a large and official-looking building, you'll be taken from the ceremony and through a portal into an unknown city square filled with fog. You will not be traveling directly to the meeting. If asked, you'll be told this is for security reasons. A carriage will await all three delegates at the square, which will then take them to another set of portals - where they'll finally reach their respective destinations of either Ikorr or Luna.

By the full moon, you should've already made your choice and informed your faction. It will not be possible to change your mind while in the carriage, as the chosen representative has been expecting to meet with you for a day or two now.

The Carriage Ride

The carriage that awaits you is painted a foreboding black, with silver trimmings. Intriguingly, there appears to be no coachman nor any horses attached to the carriage. A guard who also serves as your escort will invite you in. He will not ride with any of the delegates within, instead taking his seat outside at the back of the carriage.

Once it's time to move, the mist around you will grow thicker, shifting. Out of the fog forms spectral steeds that begin to pull the carriage along at a steady pace. You'll have a chance to chat with the two other delegates - or ignore them if you're enemies! The ride takes a little under an hour, though, so it might be worth trying to make some new friends during that time.

Soon, the carriage will stop in another foggy square. Here, you will step through the waiting portal and it will take you straight to the building either in Luna or Ikorr.

The Letter on Arrival

At the door, just before you enter the meeting, you'll receive your letter. The letter will be similar to what the other Summoned receive, but without instructions for the assigned task. It reads as follows:

◎ A potential threat to faction officials in Nocwich has been found. This threat may include one of the Summoned delegates of the same faction.

◎ As the threat is believed to be coming from a rival faction, discretion is of utmost importance. It is strongly recommended that the Summoned do not discuss it with anyone outside of their own faction, and especially must not alarm the the Nocwich representative they're about to meet.

◎ The factions firmly believe that this threat is only to anyone of great importance belonging to one of the three factions. They are quite sure that the citizens of Nocwich and regular visitors are completely safe, citing that their information source is highly credible.

◎ Faction leaders have asked for assistance from the other Summoned and ask delegates to trust that their friends will do their utmost to protect them.

Once the note has been read, the ink upon it will dissolve, leaving behind an unremarkable piece of blank parchment.

Instead of the assigned task the other Summoned receive, your job as a delegate is to carry out the meeting and ensure the representatives do not realize anything is wrong, even should they sense something off. Both for the representative's safety and your own, it's best to keep this information to yourself. Informing the wrong person might put them in danger alongside you and escalate the situation.

Do your best in this meeting and establish a relationship with your chosen city in Nocwich. It isn't only about the factions. This is about the Summoned who live in the factions with you - your friends and family.

Players can thread out the carriage ride with each other as much or as little as they like! Feel free to make your own top levels below or plan threads however you want. It isn't required, but the option is available for flavor.

[ yennefer steps through the portal like she is most used to - her head held high, and her smile polite. whether or not she received the note would not have changed this (her life being in danger, or whatever other political machinations that happen on the night of large celebrations such as this, are no surprise to her), and as she finishes reading and watches as the ink evaporates from the page, she resists the urge to roll her eyes. of course one of the other factions would cause mayhem during a diplomatic mission. if she's being honest, she wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't someone else in thorne.

in the end, it does not change the purpose of this meeting. she is here to represent thorne, and her fellow summoned, to the people of ikorr. and while normally she would find diplomatic missions of any capacity boring and a waste of her time, the influence of this, the potential, and the queen's summons directly, feels a bit like yennefer's goals are moving in the right direction for once.

and so she steps through the portal to the meeting, dressed in a full length gown that shifts between navy and black, the fabric appearing as feathers along the bottom, with a silver, jeweled top. her smile is practiced, her posture too, as she looks upon what she finds on the other side, curious.

whatever else is going on between the factions, or may or may not be directed at her, she's not worried - confident she can handle herself is it came down to it. ]

[ What Yennefer will find on the other side is something of a mirror of her own poise and confidence; a lifted chin on a long neck, adorned in a long sleek dress that fits a woman of her standing. The woman holds her hands out to either side as she smiles at her guest, fangs visible from behind her lips. ]

Yennefer of Thorne.

[ She steps forward to greet her guest from the east, extending a long-fingered hand in gentle, sweeping motions. ]

My name is Celeste and it is my honored duty to welcome you and Thorne to Nocwich.

[ as yennefer steps through the door, she is greeted with a stunning, elegant woman. yennefer does note the fangs just as quickly as she notes the poise in her shoulders, her neck. this is a woman who is experienced and aware of her power and influence, and yennefer's smile in return is respectful, polite.

her head tilts down in a well-executed bow, barely a pause in her steps as she approaches. ]

The honor is mine, my lady. Queen Ellya, and of course all of Thorne, offer our gratitude for your time tonight, especially on an occasion such as this.

[ she means nightbloom, of course, having just come from the festivities herself. ]

[ Celeste's smile is an easy one and the mention of the Queen herself only widens her fanged grin. They are representing their factions to be sure, but Ikorr are aware of how important the power balance in Thorne is. And Yennefer has manners. ]

Ah, if only the Queen could have seen it for herself. I can only hope that it lived up to your expectations?

[ There is pride in her voice, trusting that all who witness the Nightbloom are properly impressed. With a graceful "come hither" motion, she gestures for Yennefer to follow her towards a small but ornate sitting area, velvet seats and an open bottle of wine wait for them. ]

Come, do make yourself comfortable.

[ manners, and a few decades of her own under her belt. the growing smile seems to solidify something for yennefer, something that has her own smile curling. ]

If only she could have seen it, indeed. But don’t worry- I will recount the entire evening, and in particular the graciousness of our hosts. [ she can play at this game just as well as all the others, and if there’s one thing she’s learned, a woman in power is not to be underestimated.

yennefer let’s put a breath, not anywhere near a scoff, but a sort of exclamation. ] It exceeded any expectation I could have hoped to have. If I hadn’t known any better, I would have thought myself dreaming.

[ as she gestures for yennefer to follow, she moves with ease, stepping in behind the elegant woman as they move further inside. yennefer let’s her eyes wander, but only briefly, before her attention is back to celeste and the decadent room. the bottle of wine catches yennefer’s attention first, and then the plush seats. she has been on her feet for most of the night. so she moves further inside, picking a seat for herself and settling in. ]

I hate to admit it, my lady, but I don’t recall seeing you at the Blooming. Were you able to attend?

[ As welcoming as Celeste will be with Yennefer, there are several parties that need to be impressed within this short meeting. To lay the groundwork for future endeavors is the purpose that a discerning woman such as Yennefer would likely pick up with little effort.

Celeste offers a soft bow of her head at the compliments to the ceremony. ]

It is a marvelous sight, isn't it? We honor light in a very specific way here in Nocwich.

[ As she picks up and uncorks the bottle, Celeste shakes her head. ]

Alas, my duties were elsewhere. It will only serve to make next year's Blooming all the more enticing.

[ There is a pause as she holds the mouth of the bottle above one of the glasses, yet unpoured. ]

Wine? It's one of our local vintages.

[ And all the particular flavors that come with it. ]

She would be honored in turn, I am certain.

[ yennefer is fully aware of what celeste's schedule has probably been for the evening, how - if this is truly the opening event it is meant to be for the lands and people of ikorr to the rest of abraxas - the amount of meetings and conversations and precarious moments she's most likely needed to direct herself through.

still, she bows her head softly and yennefer bows her head in return, as if to acknowledge, or reaffirm, the honesty of her comment itself. because the ceremony had been an impressive feat of magic. ]

I can see that now, especially with the ongoing night. Light appears to be something of an important commodity, and I'm thrilled to have been able to see its honoring.

[ when celeste goes for the bottle, there is a genuine look of interest in yennefer's eyes, and when she is offered the glass, her face breaks into a smile. ]

Please, if you wouldn't mind. [ she's heard of the local wines, the vintages, and all of their ingredients. and while it had been a curious conversation at first, it's hardly the first glass yennefer has had. ]

I have to ask, though, about the Blooming - it's a wonderous sight, for sure, but does it change year to year?

[ she means in relation to the long lives the vampires of ikorr live, and whether or not there is any variety in something like that, but she's more than willing to broach the subject if celeste needs more clarification. ]

It is, indeed. As it is likewise pleasing to see that it's allure is not lost on those who enjoy the sun so often.

[ She continues to be pleased that Yennefer does not turn down her invitation to imbibe. Understanding though Celeste is that the tastes of Ikorr may not be as enticing to outsiders, it is a show of good faith to offer and furthermore to have it accepted. She pours both glasses before offering one to her guest. ]

I hope it's to your liking.

[ Celeste sets the bottle down and picks up her own glass, gently stirring the liquid as she tilts the glass to and fro. ]

There is a legend that says the flower may bloom a shimmering white under the gaze of a red moon. But it isn't a sight to celebrate as it heralds a great doom.

[ She then takes a sip of the wine. It's surprisingly light, fragrant with citrus and floral accents, with the slightest bit of metallic tang that defines it as an Ikorr vintage. ]

Now...it hasn't escaped my attention that you were chosen to meet with us upon Queen Ellya's recommendation. And what an honor that is! So I must ask; you have ambitions for Nocwich or the Summoned?

[ yennefer is very much aware of the good faith wrapped up in accepting such offerings, and while she is sure - given the tastes and ingredients - it would have been acceptable enough for her to turn it down. however, yennefer isn't one for half-measures, and while the wine is different, it is also wine.

she smiles to celeste and nods, taking a sip of the wine. it's the floral accents that yennefer focuses on, enjoying the range of the flavors, even the metallic nature of the aftertaste. ]

Ah, yes. Omens of doom tend to make themselves quite visible. I hope you never have to see such a thing. [ divination, omens, prophecies - yennefer is quite aware of the ways in which they work, as well as the ways in which they can be manipulated.

the question from celeste has yennefer's attention away from her own thoughts and back to the conversation at hand, taking the question for what it is - polite curiosity - and the implications each of her answers might have. ] Yes- It has not escaped me the trust that my Queen has put in me to come here. Honor barely covers it. [ if celeste was any closer to yennefer, she might be able to pick up the sarcasm. on the layered meaning behind the words. as it stands, yennefer's poker face is quite good, so she continues. ] And of course, my intentions with us meeting are entirely focused on building a meaningful, mutually beneficial relationship. Thorne and Ikorr, from what I have heard, share many similar ideals.

[ and then, almost as if yennefer is looking around to make sure no one is listening, she leans in close. her smile appears all the part secretive, like she is sharing something with celeste, here. a secret. ] And you'll have to forgive my selfishness, but have some interest in the study of alchemy myself, so there is no lack of personal curiosity as well.

[ As with Yennefer, Celeste's polite mask is fairly inscrutable but like may recognize like. Yennefer can interpret the faint crinkle around her eyes as a sign that she understands the meaning.

She places her glass of wine on the table. Her hands return to her lap with practiced demure. ]

We do assuredly share the same thirst for knowledge. Alchemy is a well-kept secret of Ikorr. So it has been for many centuries as far back as I can remember. However...

[ Celeste leans forward to match Yennefer's gesture. She has not established the length of her age without purpose. ]

I must ask what aspect of alchemy interests you so personally.

[ Alchemy is a vast field, as are Ikorr's vaults. ]

[ like does, certainly, recognize like, and yennefer feels an understood chemistry settle between them if only from the simple fact that they both are quite aware of the layers through which they're communicating. ]

Anything worth knowing is generally kept secret to some degree.

[ it is said with that same conspiratorial air as she nods, like she knows a thing or two about a centuries-old secret being kept. she makes note of the comment about her age, probably more in tune with the understanding that comes with a longer life than most.

upon celeste leaning forward to match her tone, yennefer smiles, easily looking all the more excited. sparkling, in some ways. and there is some honesty to her words, though it is quite layered, drawn up to a very specific manner. ]

I've studied all manner of alchemy back in my home sphere, it was somewhat required studies as I was learning my ways through the manipulation of chaos and magic, but recently I have been drawn in by potions of healing, vitality, a return of the body to a previous state, that sort of thing.

[ Celeste nods in agreement. That is quite true. Yennefer may have seen signs of said secrecy during the ceremony. The vampires would've revealed not a lot when it comes to the Blooming or what their vaults of knowledge contain. ]

A return of the body...

[ She muses momentarily before continuing. ]

We deal in magic similar to Thorne, but over the eons our trails have diverged. Perhaps it's time they meet again. Ikorr may have something that will be of interest to both you and kingdom.

[ A delicate sip follows. ]

Do promise me, Lady Yennefer, that should we find ourselves sharing another vintage, you'll keep me informed of your studies? In the name of friendship, of course.

[ she certainly had noticed the lack of specific information when it came to her conversations with other vampires across the last few days, and especially that night. still, the moment of musing from celeste has yennefer's curiosity growing, wondering if there is more she will say tonight.

at the comment about how the trails of magic has diverged, yennefer nods in agreement, looking all the part like she knows just to what extent they have diverged. ]

You think so? [ the excitement that flashes in her eyes is actually genuine, in many ways. yennefer's eyes watch as celeste takes a delicate sip of her wine before her own smile widens. ]

My lady, I would like nothing more. Yes, I will absolutely keep you informed- in the name of friendship. [ yennefer, as if for good measure, holds out her glass to celeste in cheers. an agreement, of sorts, between them. ]

[ Celeste leans forward with a similar air of conspiracy Yennefer demonstrated earlier. ]

I know so.

[ Ever mysterious, Celeste chooses not to reveal what she plans on offering Thorne but Yennefer will discover what it is quite soon.

The vampire holds up her glass in response. The gesture is friendly as though Celeste recognizes Yennefer's interest is genuine and she's pleased to end their talk on a pleasant note. ]

[ the matched air, the agreeable tone as if in spite of the ever mysterious tone - yennefer knows that this meeting is going, or has already gone, in the exact way she had planned.

I know so celeste says, and holds out her glass in response. in return. a cheers, for their meeting, for their shared interests. she does not know yet what it is they will send her home with, and it will be a few days until she is truly able to dive into all that it will give her, but she is excited nonetheless.

yennefer nods, and takes a sip from the glass, equally pleased to end the talk on that note. ]
