[ he will find that she has not gotten worse, at the very least. 'improvements' may be a bit of a stretch, if only because it seems less like she's improved and more that she is aware enough of the pain to act accordingly.

at his offer, yennefer's brow arches just a bit. in part because that is not what she expects - those who have come to see her lately has all wanted something, in their own various ways. information, forgiveness, to make certain of her health. rhy's offering does not sound insincere, exactly, but she is also not quite used to anyone in thorne wanting to be helpful to that degree.

part of her wonders if he's telling her she stinks, but it would hardly be the first time. she shrugs, not quite saying yes or no to the offer. ]

You don't need to leave. You can set the things down there. [ she gestures for the bedside table. ]

[ Since she's been refusing most of their potions and healing spells, Rhy figured she probably won't accept anything else -- but besides that, he knows firsthand the discomfort of being stuck in bed. He genuinely thinks it'll make her feel better. ]

All right.

[ The basin and washcloths are rearranged closer to her, within reach if she wants. Rhy pulls up a chair. ]

Are you in pain? I have some of the potions you asked for, mixed per your instructions.

You've really been terrorizing the apprentices.

[ Rhy is, technically, an apprentice and he's not much older than the others, but he hasn't seemed the least bit put off by Yennefer's temper. He might be a student, but he clearly doesn't consider 'apprentice' his status in any way besides the fact he's learning. ]

[ yennefer does watch as he sets the cloth and washbasin closer to her reach. she knows she should take his offer to help, that her own movement is still limited and often painful when she does try it herself, but she decides to worry about that later.

for now, her attention shifts back to him as he pulls up a chair, in her own way grateful for the company. there's a small smile when he says mixed per your instructions and she does hold out her hand for the potion. ] And you completed the potions yourself? [ there is a very obvious air to her, then of an instructor about ready to rate his work.

it's his comment about the apprentices that has her rolling her eyes, giving a huff. ]

Terrorizing is a bit dramatic, don't you think? And if they're looking to get anywhere in this field, they'll need to know to work with all manner of patients.

[ does that explain the fact she's been a particular terror? no. but she also does not have a reputation for being easy to deal with, either. ]

[ Rhy shrugs, and sits, at least until Yennefer might ask for help. He has a suspicion she'll be too proud for it, and he won't insist unless she seems likely to really hurt herself -- which doesn't seem to be the case. So he simply keeps an eye out, and maintains the conversation that feels all too casual for the weight of everything that's happened still so heavy in the room. ]

No. But you taught Olorel and Willan how. What, you don't trust your own apprentices?

[ Because they're native Thorneans? Or because Yennefer doesn't trust anyone but herself? One has to wonder. ]

I'm not the one being dramatic.

There are those who are worried for you, Yennefer. It's not an insult or a slight.

[ it is appreciated, that he doesn’t force his help on her. that he allows her to ask (which she won’t), but doesn’t force her one way or another. it makes her skin crawl, to be managed in that way, and whether or not it takes her longer or requires more effort, rhy is right. she is too proud.

for now, she takes the potion, checks for consistency, to make sure it has all the signs it should, before he pulls free the cork and downs it. her face scrunches in the tell tale sign of medicine before she sets the bottle down on the side table. ]

I trust the skills I’ve taught them. [ which is true, she does trust their skills, but the specific lack of the continued comment should say all that rhy needs to hear.

she trusts their abilities, but them?

yennefer exhales, then, seemingly relaxing. which should tell rhy plenty about how well he brewed that potion in particular. she gives him a look. no, she supposed it isn’t an insult, but it does feel that way. that she hasn’t been able to do it herself - protect herself, heal herself, whatever else. ]

From what I’ve heard, there’s plenty more to be worried about. Are you planning on heading to Nott?

Yes.

[ Rhy says without hesitation. He's already made up his mind; he'll do his best to help. All these months, he's decided to study healing. He'd never considered himself someone who could do magic like this. He'd never been someone who could do magic at all, and it had caused him and those around him more pain than he'd ever intended; he's still making up for it, even here. ]

The people there need help.

[ And the Crown is doing next to nothing. But he bites his tongue on that last bit. ]

I plan to do everything I can.

[ yennefer expects the sort of answer she recieves - an automatic, definitive sort. rhy had always come across as the type to be led by honor and his moral compass. while she may or may not agree with the insistence of it, for now she just nods. ]

In my classroom - you've been in there already, I know, in my back case. I have a few potion bottles in there that will help protect whatever hasn't caught fire just yet. You may take a couple, if you'd like.

[ because he's right - the crown isn't doing much at all. and whether or not yennefer would go herself if she were in the state to, she isn't now. and these fire-repellant potions aren't difficult to brew. ]

I assume I don't need to warn you about what it means if you take more than those potions?
