Who: wanda and others When: november-december Where: solvunn, nocwich, horizon What: catch-all for both months! closed and open prompts within. Warnings: none at the moment, will mark as needed.
[she says that with a straight face, then turns to look at him, pausing for a moment on their walk to the farm. kai is an interesting character: gives very little away, but wants to dig and dig. she's not worried that he'll find anything he can use against her, but wanda also doesn't like sharing too much about herself.]
Pretty deep conversation to have with a guy who won't even try milking a cow.
[continuing now after a raise of her brow, she moves along.]
Do you just happen to have a morbid fascination with death? Either way, seems to me like you just drape yourself with layers and refuse to let the spotlight focus on you, Kai.
( that's a rather on the spot assessment of his character and he doesn't really like it. he doesn't want to be seen, not yet, and not by someone who he hasn't figured out.
but, he doesn't give anything away, just laughs and shrugs his shoulder. )
There something you want to know about me?
( if she doesn't know anything about him, maybe she just hasn't asked the right questions. )
Would it offend you if I said that I don't, not really?
[because, while kai does a good job at keeping to himself and wanting to learn about the people and the world around him, wanda can't really think of him as much of an interesting character.
maybe that's what he wants.
in any case, she could always just peer into his mind for any pertaining information.
she shrugs, the farm coming up as they keep walking down the path. it's still some distance away, but there is the marked fence to keep the goats and other cattle inside (even if they do manage to escape), while the house and barn are further back on the field.]
You don't seem too put off by the circumstances around you.
( though, he thinks that could and would change depending on his trajectory. but he's not going to offer up information if she's not really looking for it.
she can wait and see just like everyone else. )
And I'm not. Don't get me wrong, this was not in my plans but —
[that, instead, piques her interest, when he says something as vague but as meaningful about 'his plans'. sure, it's a form of speech, but she can't help but think that there's more to it, if only she dug a little deeper.
[that's some amount of heartbreak wanda doesn't want to have to deal with. but he seems like the type to like making a joke about serious things, so she isn't sure she'll be getting a proper answer.
past the gate and the fence, wanda leads the way forward into the farm.]
Two other Summoned live here. If you ever want to find me, you'll have a good chance of finding me here.
[oh, so he's one of those types of guys. a gift to the world, leaving himself open for whatever possibility may come, all the while not quite really wanting to commit.
yeah, she knows the type.]
It's complicated.
[—and that's as truthful as her situation can be described as. no, she's not married, but she had been—in the hex, even if that, too, wasn't exactly real. close enough though, right?]
[it rains a lot, though, lately—and that rainfall is quite cold. wanda reaches for the handle of the door to the farmhouse and leads kai inside, gesturing towards a stool for him to sit down while she gathers some fabric that they've got lying around on a basket, folded neatly but definitely collecting dust.
this she firms up with a shake, arms outstretched to hold each end. one moment, it's nothing but loose, purple fabric; the next, it ruptures into sewn seams and pleated folds, looking nothing like it had before, neither in color nor shape.]
[she smiles, teeth showing, amused. as long as she can still make fun and have fun with, then kai's alright in her book. she moves on over toward him, motioning at him to stop moving by putting her hands on his shoulders.
reaching for the sleeves of the coat, she makes sure that everything fits his height better.
that done, her magic eases, and he's left with a well-fitting, warm coat. wanda takes a few steps back.]
( he knows that whatever magic he learns, it's going to be because he's taken it from someone else. and now he knows one person that he can siphon from. )
[wanda crosses her arms, leaning back against a nearby shelf, and looks at kai for a moment. he really finds no shame in asking questions like this despite her very pointedly making note of it.
she hmphs, raising an eyebrow.]
I don't imagine there is any magic this place could teach me, no. I have my own. [and because she is sure he will recognize give-and-take in a conversation, she posits a question of her own.]
People who are summoned here are either really special or have gone through affliction in their world. Which one are you?
[prefacing a demonstration of—whatever it is—with that question definitely gives wanda reason to pause. does anyone well-meaning ever say things like that? she tries not to look too obstructed by his words.
[hm, he's not really being very forthcoming, is he? well— no matter. wanda is sure that whatever he tries to throw her way, intentionally or not, she will be more than capable at handling it.
she is the scarlet witch, after all.]
Go ahead. [she shrugs, easing her shoulders.] Try anything funny at your own risk.
( there are two ways that he could go about this, he thinks. he could truly show her what he is and unveil that part of his life or he could just act like a fool and pretend.
but, eventually, someone's going to find out about what he can do so why not?
stepping forward, he presses a hand to her shoulder and waits for a second. it doesn't take long before he can feel her magic flowing through him.
it's — stronger, powerful. chaotic. he holds up his hand and she'll notice a familiar red swirling around it. )
[no— not sweet at all. wanda frowns, feeling the unequivocal draw of her magic towards him by some kind of force that comes from him. to see him reining in her magic and letting it flow on his hand—
this weirds her out.
so, wanda does what anyone in her position would do, and draws her magic back unto herself, leaving kai with nothing, again. nothing that is hers, anyway.]
You take magic from others? That would make you — a witch, wouldn't it? Warlock? Sorcerer?
[whatever name them losers (sorry stephen) like to go by...]

( he shrugs. he's been worse places. )
I can make it work.

her eyes return to him, just a glance.]
What were your plans, before being summoned here?
no subject
World domination.
( he frames it as a joke but it's not too far off the mark. )
I was going to be going to a wedding. Sucks that I missed out, isn't it?
no subject

Not married yourself either?

yeah, she knows the type.]
It's complicated.
[—and that's as truthful as her situation can be described as. no, she's not married, but she had been—in the hex, even if that, too, wasn't exactly real. close enough though, right?]
What kind of coat are you looking to have?
no subject
( he was a simple man with simple tastes. )
Maybe with a hood in case it rains? Or snows? Is there weather like that here?
( or was this some kind of boring paradise? )
no subject
[it rains a lot, though, lately—and that rainfall is quite cold. wanda reaches for the handle of the door to the farmhouse and leads kai inside, gesturing towards a stool for him to sit down while she gathers some fabric that they've got lying around on a basket, folded neatly but definitely collecting dust.

Is this one to your liking?
no subject
( and he means that in a good way. he reaches out, takes it and turns it over, smells it. )
No one died in this, did they?
no subject
No. Are you saying it smells bad? I don't think I can replicate the smell of a high-end store.
no subject
( wow, don't do that. he likes this coat. he's fine with it and he even moves to put it on. )
How's it look?
no subject
[she smiles, teeth showing, amused. as long as she can still make fun and have fun with, then kai's alright in her book. she moves on over toward him, motioning at him to stop moving by putting her hands on his shoulders.

Fashionable.
no subject
interesting. he doesn't make it seem like he's too intrigued, expression going curious instead. )
What was that? You just did something to make me look more GQ than I was already looking.
no subject
[GQ? what the hell kind of lingo is this—?]
Just a small spell. You can learn magic within the commune if you're interested.
no subject
( he knows that whatever magic he learns, it's going to be because he's taken it from someone else. and now he knows one person that he can siphon from. )
Is that what you did? Learn here?
no subject

no subject
( but he thinks he is. even if his coven had told him that he was abnormal and an anomaly, he'd come to like what he could do.
he wiggles his fingers and steps closer to her. )
Do you want to see what I can do?
no subject
she does, however, stand up as he steps closer.]
Is it something that should worry me?
no subject
( he tilts his head, looking as innocent as he possibly can. )
Do you worry easily?
