Who: Jack Frost + various
When: October 5th-13th
Where: Solvunn, Nocwich
What: Exploring and bothering a bunch of people
Warnings: None for now.
My original plan was to make a general open log for shenanigans, but the welcome mingle beat me to it. Now Jack is there if you want regular Solvunn chilling (ha). If you want something different (like forest exploring) or in Nocwich, I'll gladly put up a top level for you. Hit me up at the cr meme,
buttercupss, or the game server.

Julia - Arrival (tdm continuation)
[He shakes his head.] The atmosphere can't stop me. [Speaking from experience here - not having to breathe is wonderful!] The locals said each territory guards the borders so nobody can leave.
[And Jack sounds really, really annoyed by it. There may be a bit of pouting too.
However his expression changes into absolute delight when Julia recognizes him. Smile quickly growing, Jack gets all bouncy on his bare feet, and the only reason he doesn't pull a celebratory backflip is because he doesn't trust his acrobatics at the moment, considering the lack of powers.]
Yes, yes! That's me! Jack Frost! I was starting to wonder when someone would pick up on that. [Since supposedly there are many people from Earth around here. Once again, it's hard to differentiate the actual truth from the children's imagination sometimes.
The pun makes him chuckle.] Ice, frost, the wind - you name it. [He tilts his head.] It's all coming back, right? No exceptions? [He tries to only sound curious, but there's a clear edge of worry in his voice and eyes.] Things have been a little different since I arrived.
[EVERYONE CAN SEE HIM!]

[ Julia plans on testing that theory with Michael eventually, they've been curious about how hard the boundaries are and if it can be broken through. Neither of them are interested in doing it to escape, but more to understand how untouchable they are. If a goddess and archangel can't get through it, they are pretty damn impressive. As far as she knows though, this is the truth. She isn't going to recommend he goes and tries it out for himself though, there's no telling what the consequences are and she doesn't want to toss newbies at it. ]
I'll try not to sing your name at you then. There are a few people here from earth, so they might surprise you. It's a mix of worlds here.
[ An elemental spirit makes a whole lot of sense. She knows there are various myths surrounding the idea of Jack Frost, so if he's a magical sprite version, that would explain why he's so peppy and adorable rather than serious Father Winter vibes. Talking to people who understand earth references is such a relief sometimes, otherwise her jokes don't make sense to them, and then it's just weird.
She pauses as she considers the best way to respond to that. ]
Sort of. Some people have like ... limitations on what they can do they didn't have before. For most that doesn't happen though, so you should get it all back.
[ Julia for example can't create and sustain entire worlds on her own like she could back home. A massive difference, one might say! She knows Wanda and Michael have limitations that they weren't used to too, but then she hears from others who say they haven't noticed any difference. So it seems like it depends. ]

[The kids are starting to make a pile of things for the piñata, and Jack makes sure to do a quick check on them before turning to Julia again. He's genuinely confused and even frowning a little.]
Why not? Sing it! As many times as possible! It's not fair that only North gets all the cool songs.
[Limitations. He doesn't like the sound of that. Frowning harder, he stares down at his hands for a moment. So far he's mostly interacted with the locals, and from what he understands, the Singularity affects them in different ways, if at all. But if Julia is a summoned... mmh.
Just like, Jack puts a very cold hand on Julia's forehead, determined to at least get a little hope.]
Is that cold?
no subject
[ Julia doesn't have definite proof that they don't do that in Solvunn. There are magical ways to keep ears everywhere, but she just doesn't think that they do. The Free Cities she's not sure about but from what she's heard, they aren't as intensely paranoid as Thorne. She's glad that the Doctor isn't in Thorne, she'd be a lot more worried about him than she already is, since it seems like such an oppressive place. She likes talking about the Horizon, it's a wonderful place in her opinion. Sometimes she just relaxes in there with her dragon.]
North is who? Someone with a lot of songs?
[ The name doesn't set off anything in her at this moment but she believes him that he'd know someone who has songs, since he's Jack Frost. She lets him put his hand on her forehead and it is very cold. She might not be affected by the cold, but she can still feel it, and she gives him a thumbs up. ]
Super cold. Don't do that to normal humans though, dude, you could give them a brain freeze!
[ It's an admission that Julia herself is not a human. She's pretty used to that fact now that she's been here for a year. She's officially hit the point where she doesn't have to remind herself that she's not. Being unable to sleep is probably the key factor. Hard to think you're human when you're up 24 hours a day. ]

Cloud - Goat races (tdm continuation)
[Jack rolls his eyes, putting all the blame on Cloud and not, you know, his own lack of socialization skills.]
I meant the stick, genius. I don't think the locals will be happy if you hurt it.
[To cover more ground, Jack moves further to the left, intending to approach the bushes from behind. The fact he can't make snow and frost really irritates him, because he can see some of the bushes shaking, and he thinks a good snowball would be the perfect way to get the goat to come out.
Instead, he grabs a rock and throws it at the nearest tree, causing a few birds to fly out and some pinecones to fall to the ground... and on top of the bushes, which start shaking harder.]
NOW!
aaah so sorry for the delay
[Or keep it at bay if needed, especially with the way it charged at him. While he's had to deal with animals before, whether it be cats, chicken, or chocobo, this was the first time he's dealt with a goat. And it was proving harder than he would've ever imagined.
As soon as Jack throws the rock towards the tree and the bush at its roots rustle, Cloud stands at the ready, wielding the stick much like one would a sword. If the pine cones weren't enough to spook the goat, the shout definitely does the job.
It barrels out of the shrubbery towards Cloud once more. As it gets close, he dodges the animal, holding the stick out towards the goat's legs. They catch, and the goat trips over itself, stumbling to the ground. It's at that moment Cloud holds out a hand towards it, hoping that in its dazed state, it won't try to attack them again.]
We're not going to hurt you. We just want to take you back.
[Hopefully that'll help do the trick.]
np~
[He's gotta give it to the guy, though, he acts and moves fast. Considering he doesn't have powers, it's quite impressive. For once, Jack behaves and waits to see what happens, not wanting to be dragged into chasing after the goat again. He wouldn't mind if he could fly, but this speed on the ground is simply ridiculous.
The goat is still a bit wary, but it does raise its head to sniff Cloud'd hand. Jack whistles to show his appreciation as he comes closer.]
Look at that! You really did it, Goat Whisperer. You bonded.
no subject
We're not done yet. Still gotta get it back.
[Which might be easier said than done. Cloud looks around, trying to see if they find something like a rope to harness to keep it from running off.]
Good call on the rock.
[He regards Jack briefly. When Cloud recruited him to help out, he wasn't sure how much help he would be at first. But he's glad to be proven wrong.]

Matt - Nocwich
Here he gets to see people from the other factions to satisfy his curiosity, and play little pranks to get them out of his system without letting anyone down at Solvunn. Today (is it tonight here?) he notices a man with a cup of coffee and sends a little trail of frost to freeze the brown liquid...
...which he instantly regrets when he finally notices the man is blind. Jack can be a little shit, but even he has his limits.]
Watch out! [He exclaims as he puts the hook of his staff around Matt's waist, stopping him from stepping on the frost. The chill in the air around Jack is obvious as he gets closer, and Matt will hear no pulse, no heartbeat, and no breathing coming from him.] Are you alright?
no subject
he's also a little confused because, one second he'd been getting himself a coffee, and the next, something hooks around his waist and pulls him aside. the sensation of cold is instantly there along with a distinct lack of everything else.
that's...unfamiliar. he knows there's someone close to him but there's no breathing or heartbeat or anything that might tell matt who this is.
he frowns. )
Did it just get cold in here?
no subject
[Jack removes the crook and for once, he actually stands on the floor, no funny floating business. It seems the guy is already confused and Jack doesn't want to make it worse, so he makes sure to stand in front of Matt, hoping that will help the man locate him.
After some hesitation, he puts his hand on top of Matt's, his low body temperature quite obvious at the slightest touch.]
You almost stepped on my frost. It has the habit of spreading on its own sometimes.
[Not a lie, to be fair. Just omitting the fact he sent it on purpose this time.]
no subject
( such a common occurrence except how it's not. he resists the urge to shiver, his attention mostly focused on the lack of heartbeat and breathing. but, that's not something he can really ask about. )
You can create frost? Must be fun at Christmas.

Rowena - Exploring the woods
There are all kinds of creatures in the forest, and they don't appear to mind him flying around or jumping from tree to tree. Jack isn't stupid, though, he can imagine what will happen if he tries to bother them. This never has stopped him before (Nessie is probably still mad at him), but before he can choose what creature to approach first, he notices a woman nearby. Huh - can't exactly go nuts with a human in the area, can he?
He perches on a tree branch to talk to her, head tilted in curiosity.]
Interesting time to be looking for herbs, lady.
no subject
( not at night, clearly, given that's when they're currently out. and usually he'd be right, rowena not typically foolish enough to explore the woods alone or at night, but she wasn't sleeping, she'd had a difficult few days and with her magic slowly strengthening...
well, the forest and nature called to her, somewhere to find her power again. and some spells certainly needed herbs for that )
no subject
[But at least she doesn't seem angry or anything, which Jack considers a good sign. Spooky things in the forest at night aren't always happy to see him. Curiosity getting the better of him, Jack jumps off the branch and floats around her, trying to peek at whatever is in her hands.]
Did they tell you about what lives in the forest? [The locals repeated it to Jack multiple times, but can't hurt to check anyway.] What exactly are you looking for anyway?
[He knows the settlement is big on plants of all kinds, but spooky forests always hold secrets.]
no subject
Herbs mainly.
( partially, but many people judge what a witch would gather so she chooses not to explain it all )
Other foliage. I'm interested in what there is.

Wilhelm - Nocwich
Perching on a balcony, Jack notices Wilhelm looking at the market wares and he can't help taking his chance. The seller is busy with another client, so Jack thinks he can get away with it for now.]
Better watch out for the curses - we don't want you losing all your hair, do we?
sorry for the delay!
Deep in his own head as he tends to get, the voice crowing at his back startles him. He throws a look around, trying to pinpoint who's talking to him. His attention finally lands on a boy with silvery hair.]
What do you mean, curses?
[He sounds skeptical, but his eyes flick suspiciously to the heaps of folded scarves on display.]
np!
They are werewolves, not your average fox! What do you think happens when you're exposed too long to their magical fur?
[The real answer is absolutely nothing, but Jack will milk this for as long as he can.]
no subject
Returning to the matter at hand, he frowns. While he may not have worn anything made from werewolf fur before, he feels like if it had any adverse magical effects he would have heard about it by now. He scoffs, shaking his head.]
You're just making shit up.

The Doctor - Nocwich
In the end, he puts his staff up at the very back and perches on top of it, giving him a view above all the heads. The play is quite entertaining and Jack is living for all the Fun energy coming from the crowd, but one thing keeps on bothering him.]
...isn't this just Hamlet with fur and fangs? [He at least tries to keep his voice down, so only those standing next to him will hear him. Like a certain alien.]
Sylvain - Nocwich
Wandering around the market is still fun for two reasons: looking at the pretty things, as already established, and snickering at people's reaction to anything creature-related. However Jack is startled when a certain redhead asks how do I look, referring to some jewelry. It takes Jack a moment to react - right, people actually want his opinion around here.]
Liiiiike... a sparky strawberry?
[Nailed it.]
no subject
Well, that wasn't exactly what I was going for, but I suppose that's not a bad goal to hit?
[ The earring he'd donned in particular is one that had caught his eye and reminded him of Hilda so... that is actually pretty apt. He is so going to tease her about this later. And probably pay for it, but eh. Worth it. ]
Not that I've ever seen a sparkly strawberry before. Have you?
no subject
I guess? People do like strawberries. [He nods at the question.] Sure - they mix chocolate with fake gold powder. And frozen strawberries can be sparkly too if they have enough frost.
[He mentions that as an honest answer, but as soon as he finishes saying frost, a grin appears. He floats up a few inches above Sylvain's head and blows a bunch of snowflakes on his face, sending his hair back and painting his eyebrows white.]
See?
no subject
Still, he tilts his head to the side as he considers those options, because wait, there's fake gold powder? What an odd thing to make.
Except he doesn't have long to ponder that mystery because a moment later, the young man is floating and then Sylvain's hit in the face with a blast of... is that snow?!
He stays frozen (ha!) for a moment in surprise before blinking scarlet lashes open again and dislodging some of the snowflakes that clung to them. He's not upset, though. If anything, he looks delighted. ]
Did you just...? What was that?!
