[ she snaps back, though the edge to her words has more to do with her own frustration than anything with stephen. it's a feeling he is probably aware of, considering his own time in a hospital bed, but yennefer feels a bit like she's going insane. the exhaustion, the pain, the watchful eyes, the fact she doesn't want any of the local mages to so much as touch her, let alone attempt to help.
once the last of them leaves, she does feel better with just her and stephen in the room. a hair less like she has to perform, a hair more like she could relax. she snorts a bit at the tone he takes, and how much it sounds very healer esque.
her brow lifts as he approaches her bedside, curious, and slightly entertained. ]
Attempting to bribe me, Stephen?

Not exactly. But I thought I’d bring you some medicine that you can trust more than what these mages are whipping up.
[Maybe something from a friend goes down better than the castle hands, flitting about here and there and trying to heal an agitated patient. He hands it to her for inspection.]
Something to help with the pain, and something to help you sleep. I’m not as good at tossing together potions as you, but I gave it the ol’ college try, and I think they came out well enough. I’ll take constructive criticism, though, from the expert.

leaving her more exhausted, perhaps, but not so much so that she dislikes it. ]
Medicine? [ she asks, incredulous, her eyes going from the tinctures to stephen. her brow is still arched, her curiosity winning out over everything else. ] I don't think I've seen you brew a potion of your own, Stephen. Am I going to be impressed?
[ he's absolutely correct in thinking she is only going to trust aid from those she knows, and given her current, less than great state, she could use it. she sits up a little straighter, holding her hand out for the pouch to inspect the contents. ]
Oh, you will certainly hear my thoughts. [ she says easily, her eyes still on the vials inside, picking through them to see what all he's brought her. yennefer does snort a bit at the expert line, before setting them down in her lap. ] Once I've had a chance to try them.

Stephen scoffs.]
Are you setting me up for a trap? Want me to say “yes, you’ll definitely be impressed” only to turn around and pick apart everything about them? [He’s joking, of course — but also, no, he’s not going to do that.] I don’t know how impressed you might actually be, but at least I can say that I’m a fast learner. I always have been.
[He has no doubt that they will work to some extent, and again, at least they do not come from the hands of Thornean mages having to endure her ire.]
Say what you want about the castle, but you have to admit: they have a nice alchemical set for whipping these things up. [Holds up a finger, jokingly.] Just… If I turn you into a frog, don’t be too angry with me.

I plan on picking them apart regardless of what you say of them. You haven’t come by one of my classes for me to do it publicly, so I’ll have to take the opportunity when I’m given it.
[ also a joke, judging by the slight twinkle in her eye. a few moments later she slides it back into place and closes the compartment, setting it aside for now. she’ll come back to it later, she’s sure of it, and there is something distinctly thankful in the way she looks back to him. even as she snorts, then winces, her body still somewhat sensitive. ]
You’re making me wonder if I shouldn’t force you to drink them with me. At least then we’ll both be frogs and then you’ll be able to understand how furious I’ll be.
no subject
How about I make you a deal? You drink one of those after I leave, and I'll come to your classes when you're undoubtedly feeling better. You can pick it apart then, in front of everyone else.
[Though only half-joking, it's not a bad idea. He'd follow through.]

not that yennefer would ever admit as much. stephen can figure it out on his own.
but at the offer, yennefer's brow arches, like she's surprised he would offer something as big as that. it evolves into a slow smile before she nods, once. ]
Alright then, I'll make that deal.
[ because for all the fuss she might have put up, she does trust stephen's capabilities. more than just about anyone else in this castle. but she's not going to pass up on this opportunity. ]
