( he's spotted her giving out the food as he'd walked up and he'd stopped to watch. it's nice, really. not his style but nice. he's sure there's some merit in it, probably makes you feel good but not really his thing.
he scrunches his nose up and tucks his hands into his pockets. )
It'd be like Christmas, my birthday, and Easter all in one. A dream come true.
no subject
pietro was a lot kinder and less cynical with his words.]
A corn-shaped present? So, corn.
[please.
wanda falls into step with him, glancing down at her mostly empty basket. suppose she could head back now.]
It sounds like you're desperate for a gift. [he keeps asking for them!!] Anyway, I promised you a coat. Are you willing to make the trip to the farm right now?
no subject
people that weren't damon salvtore. bon bon was okay, at least.
she doesn't immediately turn him away so he walks along with her like they're old friends. )
I was willing to go to the farm anytime. Just never had a reason too, you know? Didn't want to get roped into farm stuff until I was ready.
no subject
[there's amusement in her voice, not at all trying to be mocking of him. most people take to the farming aspect of solvunn pretty quickly, but kai seems particularly against it if mostly because he doesn't want to do anything that implies extra work.
with a smile, she turns to him and then back to facing forward, leading him down the paths to gardsbruk farm.]
Are you ready now, or is this visit strictly just for your coat?
no subject
( not that he really knows what he's going to be facing when he goes there but he's ready. he's gotta figure this place out, get it underneath his skin so he can start working with it like he wants to. )
You've been here awhile then? A Solvunn veteran?
no subject
[a solvunn veteranβ hm. who else has been here for as long as her, or longer? not that many come to mind. wanda hums in thought momentarily.
then turns to face him.
not that she'll admit she's been counting the days, butβ]
Almost a year in one month's time. Not that I feel any more knowledgeable of this place than what I was when I first got here.
no subject
( well, that's...some information that he doesn't like. but, he keeps his thoughts to himself. he really hopes this isn't going to be another prison world scenario where he's stuck for some unending amount of time until an annoying man shows up with his equally annoying but hot friend.
he sighs and shakes his head. )
That doesn't bother you?
no subject
When the only other option is to return to being dead, or to a world with nothing in it for me, why wouldn't I like to be here for the rest of my days, if possible?
[it's not the whole picture, but it's a general picture that perhaps kai might appreciate.]
Have you got very important business to get back to?
no subject
( please, they don't need to talk about him and where he came from. that's a conversation for a second farm friend date. )
How do you know? Wouldn't being dead mean...you were kind of not aware of anything?
no subject
[he brings up a good point. would she be aware of anything at all were she truly dead? all she can tell is that she has memories of the obsidian castle crumbling over her as she accepts her fate.
wanda squints at him.]
If a building falls on top of you, you'd assume you've died, right?
no subject
( not that kai's ever had a building fall on top of him before. )
You remember anything while it was falling on you?
no subject
[she says that with a straight face, then turns to look at him, pausing for a moment on their walk to the farm. kai is an interesting character: gives very little away, but wants to dig and dig. she's not worried that he'll find anything he can use against her, but wanda also doesn't like sharing too much about herself.]
Pretty deep conversation to have with a guy who won't even try milking a cow.
[continuing now after a raise of her brow, she moves along.]
Do you just happen to have a morbid fascination with death? Either way, seems to me like you just drape yourself with layers and refuse to let the spotlight focus on you, Kai.
no subject
but, he doesn't give anything away, just laughs and shrugs his shoulder. )
There something you want to know about me?
( if she doesn't know anything about him, maybe she just hasn't asked the right questions. )
no subject
[because, while kai does a good job at keeping to himself and wanting to learn about the people and the world around him, wanda can't really think of him as much of an interesting character.
maybe that's what he wants.
in any case, she could always just peer into his mind for any pertaining information.
she shrugs, the farm coming up as they keep walking down the path. it's still some distance away, but there is the marked fence to keep the goats and other cattle inside (even if they do manage to escape), while the house and barn are further back on the field.]
You don't seem too put off by the circumstances around you.
no subject
( though, he thinks that could and would change depending on his trajectory. but he's not going to offer up information if she's not really looking for it.
she can wait and see just like everyone else. )
And I'm not. Don't get me wrong, this was not in my plans but β
( he shrugs. he's been worse places. )
I can make it work.
no subject
her eyes return to him, just a glance.]
What were your plans, before being summoned here?
no subject
World domination.
( he frames it as a joke but it's not too far off the mark. )
I was going to be going to a wedding. Sucks that I missed out, isn't it?
no subject
[that's some amount of heartbreak wanda doesn't want to have to deal with. but he seems like the type to like making a joke about serious things, so she isn't sure she'll be getting a proper answer.
past the gate and the fence, wanda leads the way forward into the farm.]
Two other Summoned live here. If you ever want to find me, you'll have a good chance of finding me here.
no subject
( ha. )
Not married yourself either?
no subject
yeah, she knows the type.]
It's complicated.
[βand that's as truthful as her situation can be described as. no, she's not married, but she had beenβin the hex, even if that, too, wasn't exactly real. close enough though, right?]
What kind of coat are you looking to have?
no subject
( he was a simple man with simple tastes. )
Maybe with a hood in case it rains? Or snows? Is there weather like that here?
( or was this some kind of boring paradise? )
no subject
[it rains a lot, though, latelyβand that rainfall is quite cold. wanda reaches for the handle of the door to the farmhouse and leads kai inside, gesturing towards a stool for him to sit down while she gathers some fabric that they've got lying around on a basket, folded neatly but definitely collecting dust.
this she firms up with a shake, arms outstretched to hold each end. one moment, it's nothing but loose, purple fabric; the next, it ruptures into sewn seams and pleated folds, looking nothing like it had before, neither in color nor shape.]
Is this one to your liking?
no subject
( and he means that in a good way. he reaches out, takes it and turns it over, smells it. )
No one died in this, did they?
no subject
No. Are you saying it smells bad? I don't think I can replicate the smell of a high-end store.
no subject
( wow, don't do that. he likes this coat. he's fine with it and he even moves to put it on. )
How's it look?
